Good set of results for us this weekend bar Brighton's. We really do need to get off the mark tomorrow and start our season. A couple of quick fire wins (Etihad aside!!) will completely lift the mood.

I thought the same - would anyone seriously consider paying £200m for a club seemingly in trouble on and off the field in such worrying/uncertain times!? Could quite easily see any potential deal falling through at this rate.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Spurs

14 shots? It's not lack of creativity, it's about strikers not taking chances. How many clear cut chances are we creating though? We're shooting from outside the box, and snatching at those too. A couple of guilt edged chances at WBA but in the main we're not giving the forwards brilliant service.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Spurs

I think on the basis of the last two performances we're showing signs of improvement. However, and flame suit on, tonight is a let down for me. Yes we were solid and looked more like a team but Spurs were massively off par and there for the taking. Our lack of creativity is becoming a concern. A slo...

Big centre backs So we pump high crosses in 1 of them, Ivanovic, 36 years old So we keep our only forward with pace on the bench WBA were sat pretty deep so not sure how much effect Vydra would have had on things. I'd have brought Jay on much earlier as his link up play helps us create more. The ga...

I think he'll give the side a big lift. He's not going to come in and score a hattrick, but his leadership and fight will be a big plus. With a fit best XI we'll pick up wins.

A poor game with two poor sides. We need to be winning that but I think we look short of confidence. Mee will be a big boost with his experience. At least we're off the mark. I think we have another couple of gears - IF we can keep players fit then we might just about be alright.

I won't be paying it. Becoming more disillusioned with the Premier Greedy League. I'd rather spend the £15 helping out a local non league club to be honest. The PL is in serious danger of burning its bridges with supporters in this country. Do they care? Probably not.

Isn't this what the Academy is for? Yes, but Keane, Tarks, Pope etc weren't signed for the u23's so balance is needed. Who knows if any in the academy will be good enough, but I think we need to be bringing in younger players who are good enough for the 1st team squad too (not necessarily starters)...

The problem is, if our younger players start to play really well in the Prem they will ultimately leave anyway - Pope, Taylor, McNeil etc. As soon as they have one or two good seasons they will get noticed and we will have to replace them anyway. That's my point though - Keane signed for £3m odd, s...

Nothing against Stephens, and it'll fill a gap in the squad but that's all it would be - another stop gap. It just pushes the issue another 12 months down the line. At some point we have to reduce the age of the squad - too many are approaching their twilight years with no resale value. It's a dange...
