Good luck to your lad. I know how you feel. Different sport (hockey) but same position for my lad. He made it into the National under 21’s a couple of years ago and is hoping to get a shot at the National senior squad in the New Year. Look forward to hearing how your lad gets on.

All morning I've had people coming into the office, ringing me up, sending texts asking if I've seen the cricket score. Even the CEO, who doesn't know the first thing about cricket is now taking the p... It's not good living in Australia when they are doing well against us.

Hard to believe it’s 21 years ago, remember it better than yesterday. Cov claret junior had just been born but Mrs CovClaret was happy for me to travel up from Coventry to watch the game on the big screen at TM.

As a youngster, I was always given hot milk and whisky with a couple of teaspoons of sugar at the first sign of a cold. Carried that on all my life but with more and more whisky, swear it works.

My grandad used to say "Get up't park on a nail' as a term to express surprise or disbelief. Never knew what it meant. I've always used the term 'joining' when referring to sharing, no one ever understands :-)

I remember going to Craven Cottage around 1998 with a couple of Fulham supporting mates from work, watching from the home stand behind one of the goals. We lost 4-0 but it could have been a lot more, we were unbelievably bad. They never let me forget it.

Watched Liverpool under 23’s v WBA the other night. This lad stood out for being totally disinterested and lazy. The commentators (Neil Mellor & David Thompson) didn’t have a good word to say about him.
