My treat of the day is being asked to visit the office to assist with some circuit breaker testing - WFH can wear a man down.
Other treats today include a chicken and stuffing sandwich (Sunday roast leftovers) and a Creme Egg.
I’m also on Dry January. Alas I am married...

Anyone having owt special for tea tonight?
Leek and Potato soup with homemade sourdough.
I was detailed to go the shop and was ready to go at half time. Mrs Eng persuaded me not to.
Starting to wish now I’d have gone and come the long way back...

It's not worth my life to even comment on this.
Turns out ''what are you going to do about it then'' (to solve some of the problems) is not an acceptable response.
I have managed to make the doghouse very comfortable.

My last day of self isolation, with my Covid symptoms now gone. Spent the best part of the day rolling about under my Discovery 3 project replacing the CV boots on the front driveshafts. I’ve been quietly working my way through a box of Singha I have in the shed whilst playing outside, this may have...

I went for a test last Friday as I’d been feeling a bit off earlier in the week and the gradual loss of my sense of smell. Positive test result arrived Sunday morning via email. My only symptoms are the loss of smell and a low lying headache. Today (Wednesday) I could smell the mince pie I was eatin...

Oil pump failure or crank knocking? Neither. LH (passenger side) cam timing chain snapped, I now suspect as a result of the nylon guides on the chain tensioner breaking up. I've just completed the RH cylinder head and the tensioner had started to break up. I was prepared to have to take the heads o...

I’d been meaning to install a proper electricity supply to my shed since for a few years but that meant ripping up the patio. My new next door neighbour was doing his patio, and that gave me the push to get on with it. My shed is my workshop in the absence of a garage and having a proper power suppl...

We simply don’t have the electricity infrastructure. DNO’s are currently devising all sorts of smart “schemes” that provide the required load on demand. They essentially are departing from the traditional model of constantly available supply (that a customer pays for and is expected to be able to re...

It’s supposed to stop once full. It’s very possible that like is due to the seal on the flushing mechanism. Take away the wealthy owners and the TV money and not one single team in the PL would survive. The classical romantic idea of football being self sufficient (without the need for external investment) has long since dissolved. We have managed to survive thus far on some very good fee's for players we...

I’m currently 13km of completing 1000km since the first lockdown was announced with 173km being my best month in terms of distance.
I may try and better that distance but it will be tough as the weather is unpredictable (cold, wet and windy!) at the moment.

Is there a specific time range given to the term “shortly” ?

A very poor window even by our standards. Plenty of signings for the U23's and Dale Stephens, who really looks off the pace at the moment. Back to reality though we're only a few games into the season and we've another 30 odd to go. I think that many are getting up at the possibility of Championship...

Championship players will now come at a premium because the pool is smaller and they know certain clubs will be desperately looking to strengthen. It will snack of desperation is we start bi...

It’s hugely unfortunate / unlucky that we have both of our centre backs out with injury. We could have alternated Dunne and Long with a view to giving the former experience alongside Mee / Tarkowski.
