When we went up with Dyche, our best players hadn't been on loan either, which is a factor. A few references to non-league here, but honestly that's what we should aspire to at half time. You can easily get warm food and a pint without queueing for 20 minutes. You can check the scores. You can talk to your mates / family. It's actually enjoyable.

Just recreate that on a much bigger scale.

There isn't an option to consistently be a top 6 championship club. You either get promoted or you get worse. Unfortunately, that's true. You get maybe a couple of seasons at most, from then on you're fighting against League One while juggling debts if you're a club of our size. We got a bit lucky ...

Surprisingly, we did actually beat them at home in 86/87 when they won the league easily. A win which later turned out to deny them a 100 pts total and was also a fairly important 3 points for us in the end.

The bubble hasn't burst but TV income has definitely peaked. The only option is to give more and more games away to try and keep the same money coming in. The 'unofficial' streaming services were inevitably going to hit the value of these deals eventually.
