Re: Belarusian Premier League
A) Has anyone worked out how to watch this from the uk? B) is it any good? A) No. B) No. I went to their Cup Final a couple of years ago. An ageing Alexander Hleb was playing and Diego Maradona made a non-appearance having just signed up for what turned out to be a predictably short stint as Sporti...

More travels within Europe and a lot depends where the international set up takes me , hummm Love to get Albania or Iceland in the world cup Quals . I went to Albania for a few days. Well worth a visit for a longer time, I'd think. I only really saw Tirana and travelled through the north-east of th...

Saw Focus last month at The Band on the Wall in Manchester. On their 50th anniversary tour. Sat upstairs and looking at the audience downstairs was like being in a monastery! Just Thijs van Leer and Pierre van Der Linden left from the original line up but still mad as a box of frogs and musically b...

Re: Magic Numbers 2019-20 ...
Sort of. It works as if every team takes 3 points from every game + 1 extra point for potential goal difference. That number will decrease for each team as the season goes on until, hopefully, 3 teams move to 0 or below which means that they cannot attain the number of points Burnley have gained at...

I think you're imagining some sort of mash-up (no pun intended) of the Smash advert and The Eagles... which sounds intriguing...claretblue wrote:they peel them with their steely knives!

Would love to stop at a random small town somewhere... I went to Matsue on the northwest coast of Honshu. I was not the only tourist there I'm sure. But I didn't see any others. I'm not recommending it specifically- that would defeat the object - but that was among my favourite couple of days so ye...

Re: Japan
I’m sure it’s an interesting culture and country. Are the Japanese people ashamed of how they treated POWs to barbaric torture or don’t they acknowledge this ? I know the government will not offer a full apology. Just interested to know. It never came up in conversation. It wasn't top of my agenda ...

The underground was something I thought might be a problem. Sure it’s pretty simple to get around once I’ve figured it out and got used to it. Yep. You've got it. You'll be fine. And, of course, the bullet trains are a highlight. But so are some of the local and scenic services and as for ekiben...

This is what I’ve done mostly. Just rocked up and soaked in what places actually are rather than the tourist sights. How easy is the little stuff eg getting about, eating/drinking? Getting about is easy. All the stuff you need is in Roman as well as Kanji. I never went hungry. That thing you see wh...

I went, just pitched up and made it up as I went along. If you're going to get pangs of regret because you didn't do the 5 things you "must do" in Tokyo, that's not for everyone.

Yes one of those “Oh look where I am going” Anyway, anyone been? Looking at the possibility of going next year. Wouldn't be the first to have such problems. Richard Harris couldn't not sing "MacArthur's Park" which, eventually, Webb just let slide and it sounds none the worse for it.mikeS wrote:“...a linesman for the county” cut. Guy it’s Lineman not linesman. Take 43...

Re: Covers
Webb’s version is a cover of Campbell’s version of Webb’s song! :) Not really : since the very first recording, albeit never released, was Webb's demo sent to Campbell of a song that wasn't finished yet as it was a verse short. It never has been finished... Webb also takes some of Campbell's versio...

Barcelona is a great city but there are a lot of pickpockets and distraction thieves operating. They use every trick in the book from distracting you with children to the simple bump in the street.Would suggest you minimise the amount of credit cards etc that you take out with you. True (the bit ab...

Over here we just get one variety- SPAM in a can. As I'm sure our US-based Clarets will confirm, they can choose from loads of different varieties with things added. The SPAM fritter is a British thing. In the museum's international section, that's shown as the British speciality that nobody else do...

Re: Chernobyl
I went there a couple of years ago. Fascinating - if a bit of a long trip from Kiev - took all day and, by the standards of The Ukraine, it was reasonably pricey. Pripyat is haunting to say the least. Pripyat football ground's stand is still - just about - standing. P1580761.jpg If anybody does go, ...
