Friend of a friend is Chief Exec at Wycombe. Wholly unsurprisingly, they love him just as much as we did.

Re: Mud analytics

It's obviously a conflict of interest, it's literally the dictionary definition of it. That's not to say that Kompany is actually exercising this interest at the detriment of the club. This a million times. The whole notion of conflict of interest is about one person being in a position where they ...

Different grade of errors. Theirs was when under pressure, drawing the press. Ours was with us in full control.

And manager has to state what they think the error was and it is only that, and nothing else, that gets checked

Manager review. 3 per season in the league, one in each of the cups. Then you really do get only the most egergious errors caught and for everyhting else we can just to go back to playing and watching football.

Related observation after yesterday. Somewhere earlier in this thread or the one about the email, someone had mentioned Brentford as an example to follow, with their use of pre match songs etc. Well, yesterday, there was pretty much zero atmosphere from the home fans. They played a bunch of songs th...

Re: How does the PL fix the VAR problem?

I struggle to see how a consistently applied system can ever be devised that works for subjective decisions being made in a dynamic fast-paced environment. As a lawyer I spend all my working life thinking about rules - how they work, how they apply and when they apply. Two inherent problems with usi...

Re: London travel/attraction advice

We thought we’d be able to park at the station (train or tube), do you think they’ll fill up early doors with commuters? Thanks for the park, sounds perfect! No parking at the tube station. Parking at Watford Junction station, or park in the town centre car parks for Watford High Street - should be...

Re: London travel/attraction advice

Watford Croxley Green Premier Inn About a mile away from my house! From there you're closest to Watford underground station - maybe 5-10 mins walk (for an adult). That's on the Metropolitan line which will take you all the way into central London. It's slower than the overground line (which goes fr...

Watford does have tube as well as overground, though the tube station is a bit out of the town centre. Whereabouts are you staying?

Re: Hard to believe stats.

Really interesting analysis Spiral and yes, makes sense! One thing that struck me in the second half re your comment on hunting in packs - going into defense when losing possession, even in our own final third, didn't mean going back into the framework like it has done for so long. It expected and r...

Absolutely no benefit. If the Met line is running then go all the way to the end of the line.
Better pubs in Croxley :) But yes, if you're walking straight to the ground, definitely stay on until Watford.

Re: General Info - Watford (a)

Underground - Metropolitan line - is running but on a reduced timetable, which it's been on for weeks. Taxi from Croxley to the ground would take 5 minutes (but order ahead as there's no cab rank at the station), or you could also get a bus. Parking at the Harlequin (now called Atria) - you can pay ...

Re: General Info - Watford (a)

Parking - Palace, Queens or Kings car parks which are all in the big shopping centre (Atria) in the town centre. They also have parking at Watford Girls School, just between the town centre and the ground. As mentioned, avoid the big Tesco. Ring road around the town centre is one way, and the traffi...

Re: 12 years ago

I watched it by myself in the pub. Chilled and relaxed at the start as obviously we weren't going to do it, so no need to get too het up. When Jay scored number 3 I was running and jumping up and down the middle of the road outside. The previous match we'd made a mess of the game at Deepdale. I'd sp...

Re: “The opposite of play is not work; the opposite of play is depression...” - I deeply miss the matchday experience!

Hi John This feels quite odd. I’ve been a lurker on this board and the last one for years – ever since the day the club decided not to renew Stan’s contract and I realised there was probably an online forum somewhere that would let me find out some of the inside info! I’ve made a couple of inconsequ...

4 goals scored in a row (in competitive games):

Paterson v Reading
Thompson v Reading
Elliott v Sheffield United
Blake v Manchester United

What an incredible run of outstanding, and meaningful, goals.
