Re: Mark Hollis has died aged 64

The Colour of Spring is one of my all time top 10 albums. Very sad news. Me too, Zom Zom. That and Steve McQueen (Prefab Sprout) are the two albums I'd take with me to my fictional desert island. Sad, sad times that Mark Hollis has passed on. If you'll excuse the pun, he's very much an unsung hero ...

Re: Magic Numbers 2018/2019

Think both Brighton and Saints have Huddersfield to play at home. The way they are going, that is a guaranteed three points sadly. Be a lot more comfortable if we can get to 40 asap to be perfectly honest. Saints second worst home form in the league. Hudds have earned more points away from home. I ...

Saw them a few years (7ish?) ago on their last UK tour when Davy Jones was still with us. Fantastic even for a made-up band!

Re: Bottom 8 teams on 13th May...

You're part right there Spijed, imho. The key difference is the bottom two. Last season WBA and, certainly, Hudds were still in touch. This season Fulham and Hudds are cut adrift, really. Probably means a higher number of points needed this season to stay up, although it would be helpful if Fulham a...

The thing that does trouble me - and I think you're alluding to it, dsr - is the fact that Cardiff are acting like Sala was one of their own (and, dare I say, even using it to try and motivate the team/fans) yet appear unwilling to make any payments (or, at least, trying to confirm that they should ...

As I understand it, there's quite a bit which might be in doubt, for example, whether Sala had been registered as a player with the PL (and the implications of that). There's also something about the role of the agents in all this and, I suspect, some debate about if they've carried out their respon...

Bottom 8 teams on 13th May...

OK - bit of fun. Just had my best guess at the remaining fixtures for the current bottom 8. Don't give me the 'one game at a time' stuff or, indeed, 'the likes of Leicester could get dragged in'. As I say, a bit of fun but here's my thoughts on how things might pan out...... Palace 42 points Soton 4...

WBA v Brighton

Can't be bad news for us that Brighton have an FA Cup replay tonight.

Maybe one or two of Brighton's key players could pick up niggly injuries and/or oblige us by getting sent off. The minimum is having the game go to extra time, if you don't mind.

Fine margins (and all that) for Saturday......

Right - I'm just as disappointed with the fact that we could be 4 points better off from those last two away games but realistically, after the first half of the season the target has to be 17th or better (and those 2, perhaps unexpected, points might make the difference). Think we'll end up on around 34 points. I reckon home wins against WHU, Ful, CP, Wol and Car plus a few draws (home and away) and that will be that.

Who knows how many points needed to avoid the drop although I do think, like a few others, that we won't need 38 points for survival this time round.
