Re: score prediction versus Liverpool FC.

Liverpool 3-1 (sadly) but I really hope we put in a good performance. (I'm expecting our first away win next weekend....) This. I love the optimism shown here but Liverpool won't throw another one in against us...although I truly wish they would. A win at Sunderland next week is, though, where we'l...

Re: Results we want today

In the style of, poster, Devils Advocate, yesterday's results were good. If we're serious about trying to get to, maybe, 10th in the league then defeats for West Ham and Swansea were cracking results.

Onwards and upwards.......

Re: Magic Numbers - 2016/17

Puts it in perspective how difficult it is to get points, Spijed, especially if confidence is low at the bottom of the league. So, in the last 11 games the current bottom 3 have collected; Boro 7 points Hull 9 points Sunderland 8 points Again, to reiterate, it's going to take a monumental effort fro...

Re: How many points from the next five matches?

Thought we'd get; Chelsea 0 Hull 1 Swansea 0 L'pool 0 Sunlan 3 So, we're already 1 point better off than I thought we'd be with 2 games to go Think we'll get 4 draws in the next 4 matches after that (assuming we still play Man U) with us only losing to Everton. 38 points after the Man U game, for me...

Re: Magic Numbers - 2016/17

Based on the current tally of points per game, the bottom three would fail to catch us on 31 points. Boro played 27, 22 points , points per game: 0.814, over 38 games: 30.932 Hull played 27, 21 points , points per game: 0.777, over 38 games: 29.555 S'land played 27, 19 points , points per game: 0.7...

Re: At least Sunderland, Hull & Boro look dire.

Rileybobs - I think we're no nearer to the bottom 3 (just a different bottom 3) now than before the games today. We were 9 points ahead of third bottom before and we remain 9 points ahead of third bottom now. Regarding upcoming away matches, check out the home and away tables here http://www.sportsm...

Saw a graphic on Sky yesterday about Spurs next half dozen games and next to Burnley match was the 'live on Sky' tab but still said 1/4.

Do Sky do Saturday games? Thought they just did Sun/Mon matches?

Anyhow Spurs match appears to be defo on Sky at least

I suspect you're probably right, IWOODLOVETT, in that the senior pros (esp those not involved) won't be affected....other than to prove their Premier League credentials at the earliest opportunity. Ironically, it might be that defeat yesterday might bring everyone together with a point to prove. Sti...

So what's your talk tomorrow morning to the squad and your team talk before the game at Hull next week?

What's the psychology required to get the players back on it?

Re: Magic Numbers - 2016/17

So, after 20 games the magic number for 18th in the league was 46. After 25 games that number is now 29. As I've said earlier, we're reducing the magic numbers by around 3 points per game throughout the season. For the last 5 games the reduction has been 3.4 per game. Continue at the same rate and w...

Re: Magic Numbers - 2016/17

So, after another 3 games since aggi posted the table (above) and the bottom 6 have magic numbers of; Leicester 37 Boro 37 Swansea 37 Palace 35 Hull 33 S'Land 32 So the bottom 3 are still reducing at just over 3 points per game. We continue to appear to head towards safety after game 35 at the curre...

Is it realistically 3 from 6...

...for the drop? Tempting fate? Jeez - I hope not but it's looking to me like those bottom 6 are now cut adrift by 5+ points. Whilst Palace and Swansea might have hit a bit of form, they're still a loooong way from safety. Have to say, it does feel as though 3 from those 6 won't get enough to overha...

Re: Your first Clarets away game.

Blackpool in the cup mid-seventies. I'd be about 12 years old. I remember them scoring from a corner. Gerry Payton turned round to pick the ball out of the net and caught my eye. He had a look on his face which seemed to me to say 'sorry, I did my best'. Lost the game 1-0 but remember that look whic...

Re: Magic Numbers - 2016/17

So I was saying earlier in the thread that the magic numbers were dropping by around 3 per game (against the team which was third bottom) for the first 20 games. Keeping this up would mean safety by game 35. Well even after today's get-wrenching finish, the good news is that the magic numbers have d...

Re: Magic Numbers - 2016/17

So, it looks like over the course of the last five games, certainly, and averaged over the last 10 games, the magic numbers drop by just over 3 points per game for us against those in the bottom 3 in the table. If things continue in the same vein for the rest of the season, then it looks like we sho...

Snap Buxton. I, too, became a Pats fan when they were a bit rubbish (despite getting to the SB in '85). Think The Fridge did for them that year.

Hoping the Pats, with home field advantage, can go all the way again this year....with or without ball deflating shenanigans!!!!

Re: Magic Numbers - 2016/17

First up - many thanks for those doing this. A couple of observations; 1. Those previously doing really badly are still doing really badly in spite of any upturn in form. After 10 games we were 4 points above third from bottom and now we are 5 points above that position. 2. I'm (pleasantly) surprise...

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate

OK Lowbank, I actually had a go at predicting the results for the top six who were in position just before we played Reading. My prediction at the time was for Hull and Boro to be top on 89 points and us third on 88. After pretty much 3 rounds of matches I now have it that Hull will be top on 92 wit...
