Re: What actually constitutes “respect” ?
About a month ago, my Wife and I caught a tram into town (Manchester), I was amazed at the number of adults standing whilst 5 to 15 year olds occupied seats often with their parents present. You were taught never to answer a policeman, teacher or anyone in authority back. Speak only when spoken to....

It's intoxicating trying to keep up with developments. I've gone from a non twitter user to a signed up member and can't stop looking at it for updates. Just feels like something historic is happening. Putin is either going to get kicked out or things could get very ugly.

Wow. This is turning into something momentous. I can't see how Putin can hang on to power if this ends in a huge defeat on the battlefield. He's mad enough to do something stupid but I hope there is a network in the background to prevent him doing so.

It's been said before but many thanks to those who contribute to this thread. It's a bit morbid but I find the warfare fascinating. Let's hope it's not long before someone decides to sack Putin himself. He may look like he has a tight grip on power but these things can come tumbling down pretty quickly when things go catastrophically wrong.

Personally I'm far more sick and tired of players diving than I am of poor refs. Football is an industry where everyone sets out to cheat and then blames the ref for making a mistake. Double standards.

I agree. But my point is that our previous acting was in the refs mind. Doesn't excuse him not giving the free kick but it's just what happens in reality.burnleymik wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 10:59 pmI get your point, but both tackles were from behind and absolutely blatant. Nothing to do with diving or play acting in those scenarios.

This won't be popular either but refs have clearly been directed to let things go a bit more and bring physicality back into the game. I like it. We spent too much time going down too easily in the first half. **** refs struggle to know the difference between a proper foul and a dive. So it becomes ...

I think it was Stuart Hall who in his typically eloquent way, before his later troubles, once described the view in commentary as being like a football ground thrown in amidst an oil painting. But that’s not really where the majority of the time is lost, plus refs are normally pretty good at adding on time for injury stoppages. It’s the 30 seconds taken for a throw in or a goal kick, the keeper being allowed to lie on the ball the jog round his box bouncing the ball when he’s only suppos...

And how many times do you see a player walk to about 3 metres from the touchline then go down pretending to be injured, rather than get off the pitch. Hate it.

Agree with Box of Frogs there. If the game carried on they would soon get up and get on with it. There are certain aspects of football that I despise. Players going down holding their heads because they know the ref has to stop the game if it's a head injury is right up there. So a rule that was bro...

Brilliant stuff. Loving watching Jay in this side. He's a class act. As is Cork. So many options. Really exciting. Although those saying Roberts had a great game tonight must have been watching a different match to me! 3 mistakes in possession that could easily have led to goals against a better side.
