Re: Bercow - a chance to go down in history
Surely the ERG and DUP will back the brady amendment but say they will only vote for a deal when the time comes that has something legally binding rw the backdrop. That gives a clear message ti the EU and stops the anti no deal amendment. This all assumes Bercow does what he should and take brady fi...

Re: Bercow - a chance to go down in history
Just listened to a new interview with Sir Graham Brady on Sky News. Absolute pragmatic common sense, practically and politically from Sir GB.
We now need John Mann, Caroline Flint, Graham Stringer,Kate Hoey etl to vote for the amendment to balance out the tory remainer traitors.

Re: Bercow - a chance to go down in history
Just watched today's politics live on catch up. Cable still thinks there should be a referendum between May's deal and remain. Really- no wonder the LDs are in the political wilderness.
So that's remain forever (May's deal with backstop) or remain but there is an A50. The man is a moron.

The reality is that if she can't get DUP support its the end of her government. The backstop is a tool to keep the EU in charge and Ireland will getting an increased subsidy if it does as it been told.
Maybe we need to bribe them as well.

Re: Bercow - a chance to go down in history
No it could not be clearer. It is so important that i would rather not leave atm than be tied to the EU like that. We have to try and get a limit to the backstop. If the HOC allow May to do that and the EU wont play ball, then I'd be pretty sure leave would increase its majority in any 2nd referendum.

So we should abandon having a level playing field in the trade discussions without trying to get one?
The fact is this country has not agreed a deal with the EU yet as the Government needs HOC consent. Just like the EP needs to consent rather than the EC.

Bercow - a chance to go down in history
When he selects the amendments if he lets the Government do its job. Or will he side with those determined to overturn/stop a proper Brexit? They allowed the EU to dictate so as the get a soft brexit. Just like the backstop allows the EU to dictate rhe trade discussions. Hence why the erg and dup won't allow a cop out deal. It was nit negligence it was planned with the EU. Leave voters won't have it.

Anything imposed on the UK that means one part is treated differently to the rest is not acceptable and an open goal for the SNP. It won't happen. The EU will blink first if the HOC does not interfere. Once a deal is agreed a short extension of A50 will follow to allow enabling legislation.
