Re: Playing youngsters in th first team?
Didn’t John Murray in that 68/69 season beat some record about scoring in successive games? Well, John scored 8 goals in those 8 games including the first 6 games on the bounce. Only the Ipswich home game he failed to score which was the 7th in that sequence. Probably only Willie Irvine or Tommy La...

Re: Playing youngsters in th first team?
1961/62 remains my favourite season when we were smashing every team in sight.
That said, I'd loved to have seen the 1920/21 season when we went 30 games unbeaten. That must have been one hell of a side with Halley, Boyle & Watson and the rest.

Couple of snippets probably worth adding to that. In the middle of that run we thrashed Don Revie's Leeds 5-1 and I think it was one of only two defeats for them in the whole of the '68/'69 season. From that run we went almost 51 years until the last few weeks when we won three consecutive games in ...

Aye, that was the '68/'69 season. Harry Potts was not best pleased after we'd lost 0-4 at home to Liverpool. At least we now have clarification, the two outstanding games will be played.
Today's game would have gone ahead had Bolton's U18's not played on Thursday night. That youth team would have represented the club but for obvious duty of care issues of having played two days earlier.
