Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
I've taken the plunge and set up an events company. Our first big event is an evening with Carl Froch to be held at the turf on 26th May.
The club have been fantastic in helping us get it all set up. My question is, do you guys have any words of wisdom around promoting the event and also around finding local companies for coporate tables

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
I'd go to Sandygate and all boxing clubs around the area and pin up posters, for a start. I'd also do the same with every gym and sport centre in the area.
Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
Try getting in touch with the sports reporters of the local press and radio around Lancashire. If he's the Manchester based boxer try the Manchester Papers and radio stations. They may be willing to mention/plug the event.
Many years ago I was involved in helping organise sportmans dinners and understand what a lot of hard work and planning goes into making a success of the event. You can only relax when it's all over. Good luck

See if the club will promote by sticking it on the big screen during games. It's used for sod all else.

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
Promote on Twitter using the #TwitterClarets hashtag, as that's what people look for.
A few of the local barbers, believe it or not, are big boxing enthusiasts, and have lots of friends and clients who they talk to about things like this - Oxford Road Barbers being a prime example. Non-stop(slight exaggeration) Boxing talk in there with those lads. The one in town was the same at one point, although I can't remember the name - Our Eddies?

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
Advertising is key.
If you put on a good event and people see it through advertising they will come to you, if they don't know about it then they can't come.

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
Perhaps you could advertise on here.
I wish you the best of luck with your venture.

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
Speak to commercial and take a full page up in the programme. Also ask them to put a print out/flyer on each of the exec tables in the box for the event. These are the people with brass and contacts
Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
If you can get a poster for the event up on this thread i'm sure a few, myself included can share it on social media for you ..

BFC has a massive database of corporate clients.
Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
I know quite a few big boxing fans. Do you have any details on packages/prices you are looking for?MRG wrote:I've taken the plunge and set up an events company. Our first big event is an evening with Carl Froch to be held at the turf on 26th May.

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
MRG - Really can't understand how someone can set up an events company seemingly without any knowledge/experience of marketing/promoting! But good luck with your venture.

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
I wish you every success. I think it is good for the town to have this kind of event.
As an aside, there are a couple of spelling mistakes, it says "speach" instead of "speech" and "meet and great" instead of "meet and greet"

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
I've emailed the company to rectify the mistakes, amateurs haha

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
Cheap marketing. Get carl to tweet about the event, he's a big name and he'll draw outside the area.
Post on boxing forums, even replies on youtube videos that are specific to froch.
Get facebooking, create videos of carl frotches greatest moments - turn it into a promo. Create shareable media that sparks interest in what he'll have to say. Just off the top of my head, but you need to bang your collective heads together and create a strategy that maximizes reach with a minimum spend
Finding ways to promote via bfc is great, but it isn't a footballing event. One, there are people outside burnley who would travel to see it and two, there are plenty of people into boxing but not into football. The venue is irrelevant in many ways.

Fantastic advice there Willsclaret. Quite a few of the suggestions we have already looked into and we have taken so if the ideas on this thread on board.
If any of you guys are on twitter give us a follow, we are trying to build our social media presence http://www.twitter.com/hugolloydpromo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Any thoughts on our ticket pricing? We believe them to be affordable for a cross section of attendees

MRG, it sounds a brave move by yourselves but I wish you luck with the venture and I hope it's a sell out.
Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
Thanks Gawthorpe, I agree, it's a big first step but I believe that with the right advertising and at the right price people will attend and make it a success

Did you know he once knocked George Groves out infront of 80 thousand at Wembley ?

It's a night with Carl Froch !
That's like saying you'd go to a Robbie Williams concert if it weren't Robbie Williams
Or I'd go and watch Bast-ard Rovers if it wasn't Blackburn !

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
I don't think it's clear what he means, or why he'd bother to post something without qualifying it in any way whatsoever. He might as well have said "I'm not going", which is fine but on a thread about a specific event and how one might promote it, is meaningless.

Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
My mate runs a HUGEEEE "boxing banter" group on fb - I'll have a word and see if he can help you promote in any way. He's a local lad too so would no doubt be up for attending with a few others.MRG wrote:I've taken the plunge and set up an events company. Mong
how does he " clearly" mean he would attend if it was another boxer ? Which boxer ? He likes all boxers except Froch ? Or is it the boxing bit he does not like ?
Sounds like you both went to the same school - I say "went" - it's probably "go" to the same school. Now eat your Cocopops and don't miss that school bus sonny.
Re: Carl Froch Burnley Football Club
How can.. ''I would attend if it wasn't Carl Froch'' be so hard to understand? No wonder we get named ''inbred dingles'' a small minority certainly don't help. If I really have to explain that statement then you're simply a lost cause with the IQ of a goldfish.TVC15 wrote:Mong ? Really ? You actually use worlds like that ?

You are a f'in joke - attend what ? The meal ? It's an evening with Carl Froch plus a bit of food....not the other way round.KRBFC wrote:How can.. Just because one other weirdo seemed to understand what the hell you are on about don't think anyone else has a clue.
And you then try and take the intellectual high ground - what a pr-ick you are.
Enlighten all us in bred dingles then - what do you mean by you would attend if it weren't Carl Froch ?

KRBFC feels the need to post his sh-ite on every thread
To get back to the purpose of the thread I think the evening will be a success - Boxing is popular and these events do well in my experience of attending these events with work and also booking tables. Carl Froch will be a good draw as he had a great career and also has a decent sense of humour / seems comfortable talking about himself and Boxing in general. He is very knowledgable about his sport and other boxers across all the weight divisions.
The only thing I thought that could be improved on your advertisements was that the pricing seemed a little confusing - just needs to be clear and simple and the different categories looked unnecessarily complicated....but that`s just a personal view.
Good Luck

Hi MRG - maybe you could add the event link to your original post (if you're able to edit it). Will just increase its visibility a little as I had previously missed the other post with it Best of luck with the event.
