How many points from the next five matches?
How many points from the next five matches?
This is based on the assumption that we beat Lincoln with the Liverpool game being postponed.
Our most testing period of the season.
I think we'll get 3 points which would take us to 32 after 29 games which would still be OK.
Chelsea Home
Hull away
Swansea away
Sunderland away
Spurs home

If we can pull the Houdini off against Chelsea then we could go and take the full 15
But Chelsea is the only one that matters at the moment to me what will be will be UTC

Chelsea 0
Hull 0
Swansea 0
Sunderland 1
Spurs 1
But I am rubbish at predictions.
I'd snap you hands off at 3 away draws, it's arguably better than winning 1 and losing the other 2.

Lose against Chelsea, beat Hull, Swansea and Sunderland and draw against Spurs.
So 10.
So 10.

Re: How many points from the next five matches?
The only question about league points that really matters is how many points we will take in the next 14 matches. The Premier League table after those 14 matches is the one the counts. As SD has said, at the end of the season it doesn't matter where, when or from whom you took the points it is simply how many you have in total that people look at.
Re: How many points from the next five matches?
Taking into account we'll be 2 or three key players out for
many of these matches I'd be happy if we manage to get 3 points from the next 5 games.
Any more would be great and put us in a very good position to stay up.
We need to avoid defeats in three of the away games against
Hull, Swansea and Sunderland but we have to be realistic as all of those will
have targeted the game against as a probable, if not must win and given current form will
believe they can beat us.

Re: How many points from the next five matches?
A point in each of those away games could become far more valuable than 6 at home

Re: How many points from the next five matches?
15 is utterly delusional.
I take 5 draws now. Even 3 points as long it is all of the away games with narrow defeats in the 2 home games.

Somewhere between 0 and 9 points. We're capable of winning all of them, but likely to get a win and maybe a couple of draws.

11 points for me.
Re: How many points from the next five matches?
The defining period of our season.
I'd be happy with two points if I'm honest.
Hull will be expecting to beat us which could be interesting, they'll no doubt go into that game as favourites which must be a rarity for them.
Even if we're missing Hendrick and Defour we should be able to field a very competitive team with Barton, Westwood and Brady playing a part. How important could those January additions turn out to be?

i'd be happy with 3 from the away games. denying our rivals victory has some value, too. i wonder if we'll 'rest' a couple of players for the chelski game. probably not, but it could help. seems hull, swansea and sunderland might be on the up so those games are far from easy.

The 2 home games are possibly write offs, but hard to tell..
The away games are probably the more important considering who they're against.
Chelsea Home - 0
Hull away - 3
Swansea away - 3
Sunderland away - 1
Spurs home- 1

Re: How many points from the next five matches?
on a serious note, and I'm all for being confident, Hull and Swansea have been superb in recent weeks, they will be every bit as tough as the Chelsea game
Re: How many points from the next five matches?
2 points. We have to get something in the away games but our track record doesn't suggest we will.
Re: How many points from the next five matches?
Chelsea 0
Hull 0
Swansea 0
Sunderland 1
Spurs 0
Rather a pessimistic set of predictions, considering our home form. I just can't see us getting anything against Chelsea or Spurs.
The away games have landed when all three are improving (particularly Hull and Swansea) they are fighting for their lives and our away form is dire (or perhaps more accurately, our away points tally).
I too have a terrible prediction record so I royally hope that this post is rammed down my throats in a few weeks time.
Another five games down and 30 points and it would start to look a tad concerning.

I think 4 points from the three always a win draw and defeat but not sure which can't see us getting anything against Chelsea or Tottenham but would love us too.

I think we weren't too bad at Spurs 2-1 defeat so back to our place we can turn them over, Hull and Swansea both Draws for me Sunderland first Away 3 pointer ( nail in their coffin, sorry Rejected ) definitely think we can get a draw against the leaders just to cause them a wobble. 8 points for me

These things are so silly,I love it how people think they can predict each game. There won't be anyone gets each 5 all right.7-8 points be superb, but don't forget we have played in my opinion our best home and away performance of the season last two games. We look more confident than ever. For people to predict targets of 1-3 points is ridiculous, but I stand to be corrected. If we get less than 3 points in these next 5 games,I will personally donate £50 to the youth foundation.

Re: How many points from the next five matches?
I'd actually settle for a win against Chelsea & Spurs. That would mean the so-called must not lose games would no longer be relevant as we'd almost have enough points on the board regardless.
Highly unlikely though!

Re: How many points from the next five matches?
I'd predict 3 points, but that's being quite optimistic. Our away record doesn't suggest we'll get anything/much from the 3 away games and the 2 home games are as tough as they get. I'd take a draw against Hull, Swansea and Sunderland though. Avoiding defeat is important.

Re: How many points from the next five matches?
If we drew the 3 against Hull, Swansea and Sunderland they will have made no ground on us which is important but any win in them 3 would be a kick in the goolies for whichever one it is, it would seriously damage their confidence and I believe it will be Sunderland as we already have the two wins and a draw against them.
Re: How many points from the next five matches?
Anyway in the highly unlikely event that we do go down we would win next year's championship by an even bigger margin than we did last year.
We are the reigning Champions of our previous division, we are almost unbeatable at home, we have just smashed our transfer record to pieces.
We will NOT get beaten in any of our next three away games.

I'm usually glass half empty when it comes to all things Burnley but after the last season half I really can't understand the pessimism. I see no reason why we can't pick up at least a couple of wins against teams in the bottom 5 - and when was the last time Spurs won at the Turf???

Re: How many points from the next five matches?
8 points. We have a legitimate winger/ play maker who will add to our arsenal. Teams will not be able to predict how to beat us quite so easily. And pressure will be on Swansea hull and Sunderland
