it is highly unlikely that of the 173 games still yet to be played only 6 will be away wins !!!!

According to that, if we beat Charlton by more than a goal on the last day, we are up automatically. I'll take that.

Like I said, its good to provide debate.
Before played on Sat, they had Hull finishing 5 points above us, they have adjusted their results to take account of now having a replay and the resulting fixture congestion.
I also agree I dont think Boro, will get that many points.
But I will be following it after each game.

Seems like some Boro' fan sitting in an office somewhere doing the BBC Predictor and publishing it on a football site.

Think Us, Sheffield Weds and, one other are going up. That's my heart saying that.
My head says us and Weds could be fighting it out at Wembley.
It's a tough, tough league this year.

I have been following that table, it was quite accurate 2 years ago but this time from pretty early on it has just had us winning all our home games and drawing and losing all our away games and only changes when it gets a result wrong. until recently is had boro getting over 100 points !

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
Absolute rubbish. For one, we'll hammer Bolton away, and we will score more than 2 against Rovers... And Boro beating Cardiff... Not likely at the moment
Didn't bother looking at the rest of the results.

Eagles' post explains it perfectly well - on the face of it it doesn't look unreasonable until you look at the breakdown of projected results.

I'm sorry but Fulham, Bolton, Birmingham and Huddersfield away and only 4 points? I would expect at least 8 Points from those fixtures?

Hull and ourselves will be up before the final fixtures. The rest can do what they want.

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
How do you arrive at that conclusion Ightenclaret? That table and set of results shows Hull with a 13 goal advantage over us and us beating Charlton 1-0.Ightenclaret wrote:According to that, if we beat Charlton by more than a goal on the last day, we are up automatically. I'll take that.
As stated above, I'd much rather stick to the real table and see how things pan out. I'm now getting my confident, optimistic head on!

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
You only have to look at the bottom end of the table to see that this is flawed. No team has ever stayed up with less than 40 points, and I can't see MK DONS surviving with 38. If they only pick up 7 points out of the remaining 42 as the table suggests then they'll go down.

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
Middlesborough are certainly the interesting one on this. I posted a message last week with a prediction for the end of the season based on the stats from the 10 games prior to the weekend.
I had Hull winning the league on 89 points and us in 2nd on 88. Sheff Weds also got 88 points in 3rd and Boro had 87 in 4th. I'm not sure where the extra 8 points are coming from for Boro.
The next 6 will define our season: Forest, Bolton, Blackburn, Fulham, Huddersfield and Wolves. On paper there's no reason we can't win all 6. If we do that I think we'll go up automatically. I'd argue the same point if we manage 5 wins actually as nobody else in the top 5 seems to have consistency at the moment. We need to take advantage of that and gain an advantage to cancel out the games in hand!

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
There's no way Boro are going to get near 95 points. It would require a giant turnaround from their current form.
I'm willing to go along with the second place being decided on goal difference though, it could easily be that close.
At the moment it looks like two from four, but I'm not too worried about Brighton. We're the form team in the league and we should be aiming for automatic promotion now, top six is virtually assured.

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
Great news that we don't concede another goal at home all season. No need for anyone to be concerned when the opposition come forward. Bit gutting that draw at Preston costs us a top 2 finish though.

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
So lot of us have an opinion on the results including me.
Why dont we do our own results for the top four and post our own predicted top four based on our ow n results.
I will do mine tomorrow, getting to excited for tonight's game.
I dont see Boro getting the points predicted, but all the pundits think Roades will get them an extra 10 goals and hence more points

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
Only one more away win (Charlton away) seems like a huge dip in form for us. Pleased they think we will beat Boro but then we are supposed to lose at Brighton?
Its all conjecture, just shows we have a great chance of automatic if we maintain current form. Will be gutted to finis 2nd on Goal Difference though.

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
OK Lowbank, I actually had a go at predicting the results for the top six who were in position just before we played Reading. My prediction at the time was for Hull and Boro to be top on 89 points and us third on 88.
After pretty much 3 rounds of matches I now have it that Hull will be top on 92 with us second on 91 and Boro third on 89 i.e. us and Hull are doing better than I thought we would and Boro doing as predicted. (By the way I have us beating Boro and drawing at Brighton).
Anyhow, my predictions for the top 6 are;
Hull 92 pts
Burnley 91
Middlesbro 89
Brighton 86
Derby 81
Sheff Wed 80
(Waits for the 'one game at a time brigade to come on and spoil everyone's fun )

So based on my predictions current state is
Burnley on course for 92 points
Both Boro and Hull are now on 88 as they both dropped points on what I predicted.

Been following that table in the link, us and boro were down for a draw last night, we win and they lose our points total didn't change and theres went down by 1 point, how does that work ? It doesn't have us winning another away game.

I think they make it up, and they appear to ignore form.
They must be Boro and Hull fans working together.
I think the whole world wants to ignore that Leicester and us might win our respective leagues at this rate.

My updated points based on I had us drawing today. I also had Hull down for a win.
Burnley 94
Boro 88
Hull 86
Interesting that the predictive table now has us as Champs with 95 points, that a sudden change

We're top of the home form table, top of the away form table, top of the goals scored table and 3rd in the goals conceded.
Do you think we have a chance?

I think we have sneaked under the radar and by the time all the pundits and other teams realise, we will be several points clear and only 8 games to go.
With a new striker called Ashley sat on the bench who will score 2-3 before the end of the season and secure us 6 or so points

Re: predicted finish table, lots to debate
My predictions are:-
We finish 16th with 39 points
but worst case scenario to me looks like.........
with Burnley currently at 32 points.......
Additional points = Burnley 0, Sunderland 3, Middlesboro 6 and Swansea 4 will mean a 17th position on GD
Sunderland get 3 draws at home against Swansea, Bournemouth and West Ham
Middlesboro get 2 home wins against Sunderland and Burnley
Swansea get home draws against Stoke, W Brom and Everton and away at Sunderland
So my thinking is that any positive result from here on in, we're safe!!!

Spurs as Champions and us finishing 11th with 44 points?? Fantasyland!

We'll be in deep, deep trouble if we don't win this evening.

I'm going to make sure I get myself on for the Utd match. Can't wait to see Moaninho have another meltdown after our 1-0 victory. Will be extra enjoyable if Karanka will have teamed up with him as suggested in a number of junk tabloid papers.
