The psychology needed.....

Post by Goddy » Sun Feb 19, 2017 2:48 pm

So what's your talk tomorrow morning to the squad and your team talk before the game at Hull next week?

What's the psychology required to get the players back on it?

Given them half an hour to an hour to talk it out of the system, take responsibility for error and things we should improve . Then remind them about what makes us good and that despite the awful result it was still a smash and grab

Make them sit through the full ninety minutes of that dross they served us and then they might understand how we are feeling
Especially the fans that follow the team away week in week out and have not seen us win yet they owe the fans something next weekend that's for sure

My thought was that he has no trouble getting them up for PL games but as he has no interest, apparently, in cups.
He struggles not to impart that to them. Footballers, being known lazy basturds, won't get themselves up so they toss it off.
We will win on Saturday.

We are 10 points clear from the bottom three ffs. They owe us nothing.

And with 4 away games and our away form somethings could completely look different when our next home game comes about
And know they dont owe us nowt we choose to watch and we have beaten all odds but things can change very quickly and that defeat will be a test of character

Embarrassing for the club, the management and the players who took part in that debacle, but not necessarily a blow to the confidence of the regular senior pro's who will understand the ups and downs of football.

So I would expect JB, Tom Heaton, Michael Keane, George Boyd and Ashley Westwood to bounce back without the kick up the jacksey that they will inevitably get. Add in the missing first teamers - Mee, Lowton, Ward, Brady, Defour (if fit) and Barnes - and we will have a team of confident players. Business as usual.

However I do wonder what effect the cup shock might have on our other two strikers who put on such a powder-puff performance.

I suspect you're probably right, IWOODLOVETT, in that the senior pros (esp those not involved) won't be affected....other than to prove their Premier League credentials at the earliest opportunity. Ironically, it might be that defeat yesterday might bring everyone together with a point to prove.

Still, think SD and the backroom staff will have to work on one or two to get their confidence levels back up to anything like.

For what it's worth, I don't think we'll lose next Saturday.............
