Cancer has no colours - this Friday
This Friday, 14th July at 11:15 a.m., is the date set for Bradley Lowery's funeral.
The family have opted for a cancer has no colours theme and will all be wearing football shirts.
I probably wouldn't have worn a claret & blue shirt on the day but will ensure I will be that morning in Dublin ahead of the game that evening. It would be good if as many people as possible could wear football shirts this Friday to raise awareness of this dreadful disease that has taken the life of a 6 year old boy.
If anyone would like to make a contribution to the Bradley Lowery Foundation

Re: Cancer has no colours - this Friday
The school I work at are allowing students to bring football shirts in to wear for afternoon lessons in exchange for a donation to Bradley's Foundation. Pleased to say it was the idea of a student.

Whilst I don't want to sound like a sourpuss it is hard to believe that people in this country are not aware of cancer, both from their own sufferings or of family and friends.
There already exist many cancer charities. In 2000 there were 620 registered cancer charities. There are 405 listed here:
http://www.charitychoice.co.uk/charitie ... onations=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Cancer receives £billions in contributions from all sorts of sources, tax payers, charities and they amount to the biggest spending sector of medical research:
http://www.amrc.org.uk/blog/comparing-c ... -landscape" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Go down about a third of the page to see a pie chart.
I realise this investment is never enough and it is all very emotional but I think some perspective is also required. It's much easier to get drawn in to Bradley's predicament then it is, say, this:

Re: Cancer has no colours - this Friday
It's the day of his funeral which has a theme of Cancer has no colours. Football organisations are encouraging people to wear their colours on the day to support the family and to help raise funds for the foundation that will help other kids who might suffer, particularly from neuroblastoma.
I know everyone is aware of cancer but this poor lad and his family have been a positive force over the past few months and have certainly made more people aware of neuroblastoma, something I'd not heard of.
I'll be wearing my colours with pride on Friday and have already made my donation to the Bradley Lowery Foundation - I hope many others do also.

Re: Cancer has no colours - this Friday
We are all wearing our shirts at BT on Friday.
Pretty confident I will look a slight fish out of water amongst a sea of Sheff Weds/Sheff U and Chesterfield fans, but it'll be nice to feel a little superior!
Great cause.

Swap shirts with someone. I've said I'd be happy to wear a Blackburn shirt for a day if we could get enough sponsors.jedi_master wrote:We are all wearing our shirts at BT on Friday.

Can't tomorrow but if something could be arranged I would happily do it.

Couldn't get away with wearing my shirt, got some meetings and visitors in today.
I settled for the next best option and I've put my shirt on my chair.
