Chris Smith Ipswich?
Sky saying we've signed a Chris Smith on loan to season end.
Anybody in the know?
My bad. The Clarets it refers to are Chelmsford.

Doesn't sound right to me. The lad has rejoined Chelmsford on loan: https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-new ... rd-on-loan" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Re: Chris Smith Ipswich?
Out of interest, has a Premier League club ever loaned a player from a “lower league” club?
I can’t think of any

Re: Chris Smith Ipswich?
Sure it happened a couple of seasons back where someone in the premier league took a championship player on loan, not sure if it was something to do with them not being able to complete a permanent transfer in time or something like that, but I can't remember who was involved.wilks_bfc wrote:Out of interest, has a Premier League club ever loaned a player from a “lower league” club?

Newcastle signed a Man City keeper on loan back in last nineties I think when City were in 1st Division, Tommy Wright or Nicky Weaver, can't remember which one.

Liverpool signed Steven Caulker on loan from QPR a couple of years ago. If the signing wasn’t bizarre enough, most of his appearances were as a striker.

And the mascot wasn’t Bertie Bee but Turfy Topper.djt2006 wrote:I remember when we were ... The Turfites.
I was thinking that (Turfites) myself and wondered when we were first known as the clarets and how it came about (I don’t need to know that it came about because of the colour of our shirts).
Can anyone throw any light on this?

In all the books and annuals I read as a youngster we were always 'The Turfites', had a maximum capacity of 52,000 and a record gate of 54,775 v Huddersfield in the FA Cup. Don't know when we became the Clarets.
