That's awful Canada. I've had pneumonia and know how horrible that is, but to have received your terrible news so soon after, my heart and all my love truly goes with you. You're a brave, brave man to put your news on here. Fight it as hard as you can mate.

Like others, I’m speechless. I have no words to console you my friend, your mortality has however had a purpose for me on this horrid evening. My 12 year old daughter (she lives with her mother) has decided she doesn’t want me in her life and I was feeling sorry for myself, until now. My thoughts are with you fellow claret, please keep as well as you can in what time you have left, take care, tell those you love that you love them.

Sorry to hear this. Terrible, tragic news.

We never know whats round the corner. Hope however long you have left is full of enjoyment and laughter. Remember the good times and in 71 years I am sure there are many.

Try and make as many more memories as physically possible. Hope you have enjoyed an amazing season and I am sure you will watch down on our further progress in years to come if you dont win this battle.

Shows how fragile life is. Hope this forum has helped you enjoy following the club over the pond.

Respect for posting. x

ClaretCanada - can you tell us, when looking back, if you had any hints that could have warned you of this?

Have you got family or others that can help you with this and its consequences?

I too am at a loss for words. I had a fall on Christmas Eve which resulted in a head injury which has stopped me from driving for 6 months and I was feeling down because I can't get to the Turf. I now realise that, at the same age as you, I am extremely lucky that I am able to get on with things regardless.

My heart goes out to you and I just wish that I could say or do anything to help you ---I am so sorry to hear of your problems.

I can only reiterate what others have said, a truly sad time. Amazing you have posted, very brave. We obviously don't know the exact situation but many people have been told similar things in very similar situations by doctors only to prove them all wrong - fight with everything you have, with ever fibre in your body - we are all shouting for you that's for sure.

My very deepest sympathy and thoughts are with you. Such bravery at such a very cruel time. I hope that the messages of support, of which I am sure there will be many many more can give you some form comfort in this desperate time, it can only be a positive. If there is a possibility to get you back to the Turf for next Saturday and some sort of crowd funding can be done, I will contribute as much as I can. Stay strong and stay brave. Good luck friend.

Feck me! I was watching a film and casually browsing on my phone, wine in the other hand. Glanced at this and had to do a double take and stop what I was doing.

I am truly shocked to read your sad news fella. Wishing you the best of Burnley and beyond. I don’t know what to say but I’m amazed how well you’re handling that news.

I hope they’re wrong and you get many, many more weeks and months. Stay strong, but most of all let your family know your thoughts.

Hideous news but take comfort in all you can and enjoy the remaining time and your family and loved ones.

At very least you can arrange and organise your last days in this realm. Life itself is a blessing even if we seldom appreciate it.

God bless and hope you are peaceful.
