When this guy left us he was almost out of work, going on trial at several clubs
Give him his due he has had great spells at Sheff U, Wolves and Fulham. Be good to see him in the PL as I feel Fulham could win the play-offs

That game against Arsenal was good. I watched it in the Earl of Essex Pub with my friend Dave, who as a Chelsea fan had been in the opposite end during the earlier round. Fun times!

I think he looks a good player at championship level. By the looks of things he's matured and managed to perform consistently. Will be interesting to see if he can make the step up to the Prem, although I think the fitness demands at the top level may stretch him.

Well if he does make the step up to the Prem, maybe he'll be in a position to pay back the wages he stole from BFC for 2 seasons.

Re: Kevin McDonald.
Both Blake & McDonald cleared off - McDonald came back before the end of the game but Blake didn't. I'm told that it was Blake who encouraged him to walk out but Blake went home, not daft enough to go in the Subway on Eastern Avenue and then call in the 110 Club where he was seen.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote:Wade Elliott came on for Robbie Blake but I didn't know that Blake also cleared off ---although, from memory, quite a number of 'fans' also cleared off!

Re: Kevin McDonald.
McDonald was far from the worst player on that pitch in that first half, and Laws singled him out by taking him off in the first place.
From what we've heard since, Laws was a disgrace in the dressing room at half time, and I'm surprised more players didn't leave immediately.
This is an incident which saw Blake and McDonald leave the ground and be fined, Gudjonsson fined for speaking about how bad Laws' behaviour was, and numerous other senior players speak in public about it.
Laws should have been sacked on the spot.

Re: Kevin McDonald.
Laws was without doubt the wrong appointment, undoubtedly, but some of our players were absolutely appalling in the way they treated him. They'd been given a free run of the place with Coyle and suddenly a manager came in to try and get things organised with some discipline. Some of those players then tried it on with Howe but he had more sense than Laws, whereas Laws tried to get some of them on side with new contracts, Howe just got rid of them.UpTheBeehole wrote:McDonald was far from the worst player on that pitch in that first half, and Laws singled him out by taking him off in the first place.

For what it's worth, that day against City was embarrassing. I remain convinced our players threw that game to try and undermine the manager. To be fair, McDonald had a nightmare in the first half. Interestingly, when Howe did the Clarets Mad event he was asked about loans and he said a player would be going out the following day but he was going to a club that the player thought was beneath him. That was McDonald, he went to Notts County. All credit to him, he was sent back twice from loans and looked to be heading nowhere when we released him, but he's done well in recent years at Wolves & Fulham and won his first Scotland cap last month.

Re: Kevin McDonald.
Funny how we had him down as either the second coming or a lazy disgrace, fit only for Scottish leagues. Turns out he's another decent Championship player, which isn't quite so dramatic. All water under the bridge now, but fair do's to him for knuckling down and getting a good career for himself.
Re: Kevin McDonald.
Claretintown, WTF are Arabs doing meddling in English football anyway? Ass Emirates? Why spend on an English club? Why not spend on an Arab club? The Emirates Stadium, an insult to the gunners, especially now Highbury has been reduced to an allotment is a national disgrace. Around the stadium they have pictures of the likes of Radford and Graham all facing inwards with their asses out to the fans. It's wierd. That club has been effed upp its own arse backwards in the name of funding.

Re: Kevin McDonald.
We had a team punching well above its weight in the Premier League against a top quality side – the result needn’t have been a surprise that day. It looked to me that we were simply swept aside by a far superior team. It happens.ClaretTony wrote: For what it's worth, that day against City was embarrassing. Most of us have seen some very poor Burnley performances, but to publicly suggest our lads threw a game without strong evidence to back it up leaves a pretty sour taste.

Re: Kevin McDonald.
I watched it - three goals, another disallowed and hitting the woodwork all in the first seven minutes. They were better than us, but no way should that have happened. What left a sour taste was that performance, or lack of it.Peebs89 wrote:We had a team punching well above its weight in the Premier League against a top quality side – the result needn’t have been a surprise that day. Re: Kevin McDonald.
CT suspected players chucked that performance in to undermine the manager, I still suspect the Leicester players did the same to Ranieri when we beat them last year.
As for McDonald “Scottish Gerrard” I heard him being described when here is one of the few players to progress after leaving us.

Re: Kevin McDonald.
A Sheff Utd. mate of mine speaks very highly of him after his time with them.
As for that game v. Man City it is the opening few minutes that I can recall with any confidence. Each time they came forward looked like it would end with a goal with Bellamy, especially causing all sorts of problems with his pace. I genuinely felt we might be on the end of double figures the way it was going but thankfully their generosity and a heavy pitch slowed everything down. Cracking goal from Fletcher though.

He had great talent and he has improved greatly, particularly where attitude is concerned. However, I don’t think his work rate is remotely close enough to Dyche’s requirement.
