So basically we have to hope we hit lucky in the draw for Q2 & Q3 and if we get to the playoffs hope that there have been some shocks so we get seeded
Re: Europa League Seedings
If we do get to the play off round we will probably be seeded if only 1 of these higher ranked sides end up in EL qualifying from Champs league qualifiers:Dy1geo wrote:So basically we have to hope we hit lucky in the draw for Q2 & Q3 and if we get to the playoffs hope that there have been some shocks so we get seeded

For all those who are dreaming of a possible trip to the San Siro in the group stages;you might want to hope that we do not draw a team from any one of these nations early on:
Ireland,Finland,Norway,Sweden,Iceland,Latvia,Estonia,Lithuania,Belarus,Moldova or Kazakhstan.
Teams from those countries that we could possibly draw might only be of League 2 standard at best ; but they will be 15-20 games into their season.

Re: Europa League Seedings
I would like to award you 10/10 for the most pessimistic, unambitious post I have seen in quite some time. Why would anyone sacrifice a place in Europe for fear of being relegated from the bloody PL? Why are people so afraid? I damn well despair I really do. The biggest achievement in the last 50 years for Burnley FC and some of you would duck out just so we will be mid-table in the over hyped over glorified PL. Personally I would rather we won the Europa and got relegated. There is more to football life than just surviving in the PL and playing in Europe is one of them. Get a grip.Claret&Green wrote:We couldn't beat a non league club on our own turf in the fa cup last Jan. Personally I am of the opinion we would be better of sacrificing Europa League as early as possible and concentrating on a mid table finish. God forbid we get any injuries in the 6 games we'd have to play before getting to the competition proper.

Someone suggested there is a limit to how far we'll have to travel for our first match.Dazzler wrote:For all those who are dreaming of a possible trip to the San Siro in the group stages;you might want to hope that we do not draw a team from any one of these nations early on:

Re: Europa League Seedings
Whilst when the time comes i'll want us to win badly my hope/focus is on getting a really good, sunny and accessible venue for our first away leg and would take getting knocked out there over winning a few rounds in the outreaches of Europe where only fans desperate to see the game will be likely to travel.
The first away leg is the one that potentially every man and his dog will want to go to and will be more like a big party with thousands turning up juts for a drink and a jolly. After that is will go back to more the hardcore fans whose priority is watching the game in the stadium unless of course we get a really plum draw later on in the competition like a visit to the San Siro

If we did have to travel to somewhere like that for our first match at least it solves the issue of enough tickets.Lancasterclaret wrote:Your flights to Almaty guys!

Not many Burnley fans are going to pay that much, plus hotel costs for the match, first game or not.

Leisure can get 12 on here.
They'll have to split £57 k plus between them though.
But those Accy Clarets have always been a bit richer than most!

Only knowing our opponents for the 2nd round one week before may make it difficult for big numbers to travel if we were away in the first leg.

A couple of Montenegro sides in there that would be nearer to you. We are in Paris for the the end of Le Tour but PSG let us down and went for CL.Colburn_Claret wrote:I'm in Croatia for the first game.
Osijek and Rijeka would be a bit far/awkward, but Hajduk Split would be perfect.
3.5 hours by bus and they run every 45 mins from Dubrovnik.

can't see link for the potential teams, are there any teams in Iceland we could get? Always wanted to go there and that game would be a good excuse

It’s the play offs, when we move to the right hand column, where the fun starts (assuming we don’t suffer a catastrophic exit by then).

For those folk pondering the Champions League element, there is a picture half way down this page which explains it, though I thought it was 2 side’s entering from CL Q2, not 3. A bit of ambiguity online.

Not being funny (probably just me being stupid) but how come Sevilla, Besiktas etc show in the 2nd Qualifying round but are also in Pot 1 when the group stages are shown? Not sure if they are through to the group stages or have to go through qualifying.
Jeez - it's complicated!!

does the seeding effect whether you are home or away in the 1st leg? Or is that just luck of the draw?

Re: Europa League Seedings
I think seeding takes on a different form in the group stages with all sides ranked sequentially, the table on foootballseeding.com just shows which Pot out of four each side would be in, the sides in bold heading straight into the group stages and the sides not in bold having to win qualifying games. We are thus certain (barring a freak set of results) to be in Pot 3 in the group stages which would mean we would get 2 bigger clubs and 1 smaller club. Sevilla, AC Milan, Burnley and Slavia Prague would be a typical group we may get.Dazzler wrote:It means if they progress to the group stages then they will be seeded.
It shows Burnley will be seeded if we advance to the 3rd round.

It is likely to be academic as we are probably going to be like West Ham (twice), Southampton and Hull in recent years to fail to reach the group stages, and all of them lost to smaller clubs too.

Not necessarily though.piston broke wrote:It is still an either or until the first round is complete.
There are 47 teams that enter at the 2nd round stage & 27 from 1st round.
You work it out.
And being a seeded team we might get a straight draw.
If you know what I mean.

Take a look at the 2017/18 2nd round draw.
Some teams were given a 'straight draw'

Out of 143 teams in the qualifiers only 13 will get to the group stages to join the 35 who have qualified directly to the group stages,

Re: Europa League Seedings
Im not sure if its at all possible but Id be happy with just a one off “big” qualifier against a team steaped in history. 6/7,000 clarets travelin. That’ll do me. If we lose, so what?

Re: Europa League Seedings
Looking at the seedings etc in round 2 unless we draw a Scottish side there are not that many “attractive” away ties. However if we get to play off round and the games go as per the seedings given the teams listed at present there is only Besitkas that I wouldn’t fancy going to and I can see many fans “hoping” we get that far and that will be the one most decide to do the “away” leg.
