England vs India 1st Test
England won the toss and will bat first, whether they will bat well is another matter.
Surprised to read India have never won a Test at Edgbaston losing 5 and drawing just the one.
Overcast but on balance if you have the choice bat first and put the runs on the board,Rashid and golden arm Root should come into play in the 2nd innings,if England can set a decent target.

We tried to sign an Indian spinner but the acquisition team were told that they couldn't sign guys who had already played for India.box_of_frogs wrote:Have the cricket team made any signings?

Poor attendance but let battle commence, after all the opinions/views on Rashid's selection, it's now up to him to justify himself whatever the mouthy Vaughan, Boycott and others think.

If he goes for under 7 an over and picks up a wicket in his four overs he will have done well.

The demise of Test Cricket. Just bash it folks. That's all they want.

Ticket prices went sky high when Test cricket came very popular, it's hard to get it back to a fair price.

Scoring rate is pretty lively. What odds on Root getting out between 70 and 90?

Probably more likely than we are to sign someone this window capable of playing in the 1st team.TheFamilyCat wrote:Scoring rate is pretty lively. What odds on Root getting out between 70 and 90?

£66 to sit in the party stand of a half empty stadium. Think they've got something wrong on the pricing.

Currently 100/2. Jennings just gone. Unlucky , defensive shot bounced of bat onto his legs and spun slowly onto wicket, just about managing to dislodge bail.

162-3. Going well at the minute.
Plenty in it for the bowlers earlier but need to make it count now.

Re: England v India 1st Test
I just hope that the silly run out hasn't opened the flood gates for India.
We need to be batting at the end of the day with no more than 7 wickets down, however, Buttler has now just gone so I think that we will be all out after having looked very comfortable.

224-6 buttler a duck
Re: England v India 1st Test
Poor cricket from Bairstow. I'm all for positive running but not suicidal. And now the customary collapse. 224 - 6. Anyone else find Kohli extremely irritating?

Just taken the dog out for walk, come back and three major batsmen gone for next to nothing. Typical England.

Unbelievable....
You go out shopping, when we're cruising and come home to this mess.
Highlights won't be much fun tonight.

Re: England v India 1st Test
I said it ages ago. Root, a very good batsman, should not be captain. I saw his interview on SSN yesterday, when he was questioned about Rashid's inclusion: he was like a rabbit in the headlights. We need someone, who understands Test Cricket captaincy and who can get the message across to team what Test Cricket is all about. It reminds me of when Botham was captain and had to be replaced by Brearley..
End of play 285/9. 6 wickets fall in last session.

Re: England v India 1st Test
You have to question why Root agreed to the selection of the inexperienced Crane as spinner for the Ashes tour. This understandably peed Rashid off, if Root didn't rate him then, what has changed now?

Edit...Root sits in the meeting as does Strauss but neither gets a vote.

Root hasn't shown any captaincy skills so far but is there any other stand outs?
