Re: ARTICLE: Duff goes back to Cheltenham as boss
I didn't think there was much in it when he was first linked with them, but it's a great opportunity for him to get his first management job and at a club he knows so well and where he is considered a hero by the fans.
Re: ARTICLE: Duff goes back to Cheltenham as boss
Best of luck to a brilliant servant of Burnley FC . Tough, low key, very professional.Hope he does well.

Re: ARTICLE: Duff goes back to Cheltenham as boss
Wasn't expecting the news today to be honest given he was on the Turf this afternoon - but clearly all done and dusted by the time he got here.
Re: ARTICLE: Duff goes back to Cheltenham as boss
Sorry to see a great servant leave, however obviously needed to learn the ropes lower down the league ladder, and where better to start for Duffo then Cheltenham.
Re: ARTICLE: Duff goes back to Cheltenham as boss
Best value for money signing we've made.

Re: ARTICLE: Duff goes back to Cheltenham as boss
Some players get the moniker legend, without really deserving it. Michael Duff does.
Never our best player in any era, but where would we have been without him, a true servant to the club.
Best of luck Duffo, I wish you nothing but enormous success and will henceforth always be looking out for the Cheltenham score.

Re: ARTICLE: Duff goes back to Cheltenham as boss
Players like Duff - who give everything without necessarily having as much to give as others - are the ones who make me proud to watch Burnley. I really hope that this turns out well for him - so many players don't succeed as managers but this is one who truly deserves success. I always think of Duffo and that dreadful dance when I think of Wembley! (And the way he ran round the Burnley end of the pitch filming or pretending to film the crowd).
Re: ARTICLE: Duff goes back to Cheltenham as boss
Duff and Jolley both being in managerial roles can only reflect well on Dyche and the rest of the club.
Good luck to him, will look out for their results.

Yep, last two U23 coaches now managing in League Two - neither of them having coached at that level previously. There should be a queue for Duff's job now.PWBFC wrote:Duff and Jolley both being in managerial roles can only reflect well on Dyche and the rest of the club.

The original Kevin Long.
Good luck to him. Will be a tough job. But he will have learnt so much from his time here playing and coaching.
He will have learnt good (and bad) from Cotterill, Coyle, Laws, Howe and Dyche. Not to mention some great pros like Alexander, Barton, Andy Cole and co.

Good luck to Michael, fully deserves it. Has been a true stalwart for us. He will also have learned some tricks from the managers he has played for (good and bad ☺).

Stevie C had a great eye for a player and made some great signings and Duff was one of his best. I'm sure he will be successful at Cheltenham. Good luck Mike and thanks for the memories.

Re: ARTICLE: Duff goes back to Cheltenham as boss
Was interesting what Duff said about those managers at his testimonial Q&A.cricketfieldclarets wrote:He will have learnt good (and bad) from Cotterill, Coyle, Laws, Howe and Dyche.
Cotterill - at times too intense but the manager who always had faith in me and gave me the chance to come to Burnley
Coyle - we had the most unprofessional team ever to win promotion
Laws - never given a chance
Howe - he never spoke to me, only spoke to the younger players
Dyche - modern manager with old fashioned values

Not the first time I’ve heard that about Howe.
Must be difficult being a football manager younger than players in your team and telling them what to do, but you would think that you would want to use their experience

Never knew that. Thats really interesting. And sure he can learn from all of their approaches. Howe and Coyle included.ClaretTony wrote:Was interesting what Duff said about those managers at his testimonial Q&A.

And for those of us lucky enough to be there on that unforgettable night at Stamford Bridge when he just ran up to the ball and smashed it home during the sudden death part of the penalty shoot out. Forever etched in my memory.Woonderbah wrote:Immortalized in my memory for a certain goal celebration with Arfield... Best of luck Duffers.. A great servant to BFC
