Leicester City versus MIGHTY CLARETS

Post by IanMcL » Sat Nov 10, 2018 9:59 am

No messing about with the opposition name today. Respect to them.
I wish them well with their match.

The 2 minute silence will be particularly poignant.

Peace to all.

As for the Mighty Clarets, Madge is ready to fire us up to help our heroes to a big victory.

Come on you Clarets

With our defence so shaky of late and given how fired up Leicester will be i cant see anything other than a defeat.

We badly need a result though as if not we'll likely be in the bottom 3 tonight.

I know what your saying but stranger things have happened.. I'm thinking when Burnley were struggling in Div 2 down the bottom and played away to Spurs in the League cup who were in the 1st Div. Frank Casper was sacked and Brian Miller was appointed manager.

Like today few people gave Burnley a chance...the score 1-4. As I say stranger things have happened so fingers crossed ;)

Script already written I'm afraid. Vardy hat trick other scorers all looking to the sky when they score. Post match interviews we did it for you/him etc. No confidence in this team at the moment, was but that's how it is.
TBH a one or two nil defeat would be a moral victory of sorts today.

I can understand confidence being low among fellow Clarets but high emotional distractions does not guarantee success in the pitch. You only have to look at our own insipid performance after the Jimmy MAC tributes v United.
I’m going for a 1-1. It’s a day for Burnley to rediscover their organisational framework in the face of adversity.

The plus is that Harry Maguire and James Maddison are both ruled out.

We'll need to press them from the off, and frustrate them. A game I'd like to see Wood and Vydra start.

In Jubilee Square Leicester with my wife, thousands of fans here but we've only seen a few Clarets joining the gathering for the walk to the stadium. Very friendly between fans.

Just left a drab/dreary Nottm on the train to Leicester.

Dreaming of a Clarets victory; realistically, expecting the worst i e something like 3-0.

PS good opening post, Ian....nice (and appropriate) show of respect.

Terrible team selection. Lennon in and Brady out is a joke. Two strikers, who will get in each other's way up front. Hope I'm proved wrong but can't see it. Setting off now to watch it.

Brady for Lennon and any of Vydra/Barnes/Hendrick for Vokes and I'll be happy with the front 6. Just hope Lennon and Vokes dont start the Newcastle game

We would have had people complaining had Hendrick been behind any striker.

We would but I wouldnt be one of them. As said Id be just as happy with Vydra or Barnes in that role although Id prob go Hendrick today and one of the other two against Newcastle

Hi IanMcL, I agree your sentiments.

One small point: Leicester will not be playing their usual goal music today - if they score.

This report was in The Times on Wednesday:

No celebration music for Leicester City goals

"Leicester City will not play any goal celebration music should they score against Burnley on Saturday in their first game at the King Power Stadium since the death of their chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

The club usually play the Kasabian song Fire after scoring but will not do so this weekend out of respect for their late owner and four companions who died in a helicopter crash as they left their game against West Ham United on October 27.

Leicester are planning a number of tributes to Srivaddhanaprabha and the others who died before the Burnley game and will not play any celebration music as they seek to set the right tone. The club will review whether to change their celebration music at a later date or resume playing Fire by the Leicester band Kasabian, which contains the repeated phrase “I’m on fire”. Claudio Ranieri, the former manager, credited the song with inspiring his players during their run to the Premier League title three years ago."

End quote.

No further comment from me.

Just seen the team and straight away the clock stopped ticking on the wall. Really hope I`m proven wrong but it just looks stale and lacking in any creative thinking at all BY THE MANAGER. If Leicester get in behind the midfield 2, then we`re done.

PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG!

Leicester will fly out of the gates and we will hit them hard and poach some goals.

3 points to the Mighty Clarets.

I am parked up. Very wet drive, most of the way.

Here is Madge, ready for action.

I've been 7nhappy before, and SD has proved me wrong, but I can't see it today.
I presume Lennon is in instead of Brady to help out Lowts, more than to create chances.
2 big men up top could work, IF the 2 players were used to playing with each other, wink, wink, say no more. But I'd prefer a big one little one. In fact today I'd prefer a loan striker and fill that midfield.
If Leicester score early this could be a disaster.

Afternoon, Fellow Clarets.
Tough day to come. They'll be all over us like the proverbial rash, but only score once from loads of efforts.
We'll have two on target all game.
A 2-1 Clarets victory!

Right, that's the crystal ball back in the cupboard.

This board appears to have driven out a lot of fans who want to get behind the team and enjoy some sensible debates.

It’s depressingly negative.
