A few things didn’t add up especially Steve arnott stocking up at different chemists for painkillers/other medication, he seemed to be well stocked up, & the lesbian axe to grind plot towards the end suggesting the Indian girl/other origin was going to AC because she had been jilted obviously unhinged anyway with slashing the ex’s clothings.

Steve had a serious injury in an earlier season, wasn't he in a wheelchair for a bit and had to learn to walk again?

Have to admit I was fairly disappointed with that episode.

It’s the slowest start to any Line of Duty series yet.

I wouldn’t say I was disappointed, nor would I say it was a riveting episode as was said earlier. Plenty plot setting which was of course to be expected.

I did spend a bit of it seeing if I could spot any glaring covid restriction mistakes. The scene with Kate and Steve in the car seemed to be the most obvious one.

Anyone notice Steve looking a bit thinner in one of the scenes? Wonder if that’s to do with filming being paused halfway through due to the pandemic.

Yes that’s true, end of S4 that happened, maybe I’m reading too much into it, it just seemed strange to me him visiting different pharmacies collecting an assortment of different drugs & then seeing a stockpile later on, usually you would go to 1 chemist for everything, I guess we’ll see if anything later on develops regarding this observation.

You can only purchase two pharmacy items over the counter. I've tried getting some lemsip and two packs of Ibuprofen at the counter before. Had to put one back. So he's going to different stores. He was/is probably addicted to them.

Modern society but I get your point about 3 being overkill. Makes it look like most police women are gay which probably isn't the case. So so episode after all the hype but hopefully will improve. I spent most of the episode being surprised at the main lasses new teeth and slight lisp she has now.

Not the greatest episode ever. With it being a series opener, I was hoping for more.

I’ll try to keep spoilers subtle for those who haven’t seen it but I thought it was low on action and high on teasing links back to previous series.

Ones I spotted were the kitchen appliance and owner, the person with the fingerprints (who is likely related to the guy Ted visited in the last series as he has the same surname), AC12 still on the naughty step, the Superintendent who we’ve seen several times (who may have facilitated the clean-up by delaying the op, as could his DCI who could have staged that bust but didn’t want anyone shot).

It could also be a typical Mercurio red herring that we witness a relationship breakup thinking that was the reason for grassing the ex up, but in reality it could prove to be a genuine claim worthy of AC12.

We’ll see what happens, but good writing doesn’t stop during lockdown so I’m hopeful.

There was a pretty obvious continuity issue with the unmarked BMW 5 series vehicles in convoy on the way to Beechwood House.
One of the overhead scenes showed the second car as an E60, whilst in the other scenes it was the current G30 variant.
Strange, that the E60 was retired over 10 years old.

Great episode though, and hopefully this season will be as gripping as the last.

I thought exactly the same regarding the spoilers but then again if somebody hasn’t viewed it, anybody with a modicum of intelligence certainly wouldn’t be browsing on this thread to start with, you would watch it first then read & comment.

Fictional lesbians.

Something else we can add to the list of things Firthy is having forced upon him in order to appease the Woke.

Who was the third btw?

Was another poster who said 3 I was just replying to him. It's not forced upon me, I chose to watch it. I don't write the scripts and have no control over it so nothings going to change because of my opinions but it doesn't stop me having them.

It's such a great program but there are lots of things you can miss.

The lad who was being interviewed and the flat that had been cleaned was the same lad and flat that was in series 5 that had the body parts of Laverty from series one in his freezer - which is now missing. You saw the print shop that they worked out of in series 5 in one scene.

There was a paperwork mix up with the warrant in series 5 with the £50k being found with the wrong reason for the warrant which then made it inadmissible in court. This time it was a mix-up in the type of surveillance. Are these just coincidences? They tried to plant it on Davidson's boss in this episode but who knows...

H & The OCG is clearly at large still... It's brilliant

Total belter of an episode last night. Back to its best.

Options for the main bent copper (apart from the one obviously being coerced) who could be unearthed appear to be:
1. Buckells (who met 13 year old Ryan in series 1 and seemingly didn’t recognise him???)
2. The Commissioner (unlikely)
3. The Chief Constable (Owen Teale) who was Steve’s boss in Series 1 and stitched him up, got to be hot favourite?

I thought Ted and the crew should know for sure now that the DI is dodgy. The way that brilliant interview sequence unfolded meant she was either bent or incompetent. If the latter, she wouldn’t have spotted the bookies robbery but missed everything else. So it must be the former.

With the way the burner phone was delivered to her in the final scene, and her reaction, I’d guess she’s slightly bent, and being blackmailed, possibly for being a Les?

Who do we think fired those 2 shots? My money is on Arnott.

Don’t think the cliffhanger worked - far better to play out the whole scene as a dramatic sequence. It’ll be an anticlimax next week, like the Tommy Hunter revelation which was obvious and which we had to wait a week for.

I reckon the old AFO from last season. Theory is he didnt stand down when ordered to by Darth Carmichael, and was there to take the shot when he had to.

Need to listen back to see if it sounds like 2 separate pistol shots or a "double tap" which would be more likely from the AFO

Fantastic episode. Yes it is dramatized beyond belief but it wouldn't last this long without being.

Whatever happens with the shots, it will take the series on a few notches.

I'm a huge fan but for me this season of the programme has not been as good. Still very watchable but not as good and that final scene last night just made me think of American TV Shows with a rushed, cobbled storyline. Which they all are. (Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul of which the latter I am painfully hanging in there hoping it gets better and we're only in series 2)
Line of Duty is very good at placing clues and a storyline develops where you expect the unexpected. Then it goes off and shocks. Usually.
They're not normally afraid of killing off leading actors either but this series seems like it's got a lot of after thoughts. Just not the usual standard for me.
It's got me thinking more in this series 'Why did the writer do that?' or 'Why did the director do that?' rather than thinking 'WOW! I didn't see that coming.

One thing that gnaws at me, is why dont they just replace the whole prison staff?
