Grants on a new boiler for pensioners

Post by Lew200100 » Mon Jan 14, 2019 4:16 pm

Good afternoon fellow clarets , My mum is on pension credit and as very little money does anybody know where it may be possible to get a grant for a new boiler / heating system please . I have looked on line but am struggling . Her boiler must be 25 / 30 years old and is in desperate need to go onto a combi boiler as she still has the old fashion system set up .

Obviously don't know your (or, more importantly, your mum's) situation but maybe have a look here and see what advice that Martin Lewis dude is offering. Good luck with it all.

Hi lee

I quite often get calls from them annoying cold callers, about government energy saving grants for insulation not sure if it still includes boilers though. My Flat is to new so I have never gone with it but have a look on this link

If she does get one watch out for lots of pressure leaks from joints or taps. We just had one and the difference between a gravity fed hot water system and a combi system has resulted in 5 leaks in the 1st 18 days - 2 of them ended up with water dripping through the kitchen ceiling and 1 with 1/2 inch of water in the kitchen from the washing machine connector tap!
