We need to win both the bournemouth and Cardiff game. Cardiff are more than capable of winning at Fulham and Brighton and at home to Palace

By the time we play Everton they'll already be on their sun loungers.
If we are desperate for points , we'll get them at Goodison.

Well we did actually win at Goodison in 1976 and prior to that 1963, so a victory there is overdue!RingoMcCartney wrote:By the time we play Everton they'll already be on their sun loungers.

Re: Cardiff at home
We will be 5 points or 6 or 8 ahead by that game. I do not think a draw will do id=f we are only 5 points clear when we play them as I fancy they will beat Fulham and maybe Brighton and then they have palace at home-so I think we need to win if we are only 5 points clear especially after that we have Chelsea Man C Everton and Arsenal and most of us have said we need to be safe before our last 4 gamesBosscat wrote:Depends on Saturday but yes if we are 5 points ahead going into the game at Turf moor against Colins bottlers then yes a draw would do....

We are still in squeaky bum time.
Remember there are always a few strange results in the last couple of games.
Remember our Spurs game, last game of the first season.
Man Utd could be on the beach for Cardiff’s last game. I hope we don’t need a result on the last day, it could undo us.

Re: Cardiff at home
People are perhaps forgetting that Newcastle , Southampton as well as Brighton and Palace are very much in the thick of it . I’d expect at least one of the above ( hopefully Brighton) to totally sh1t the bed .
A point at Bournemouth and a decent win against Colin’s lot should see us fairly safe . As mentioned above hopefully Everton will be “on holiday” As for Arsenal and Chelsea let’s hope they’ve secured champs league or no chance by the time we play em

Re: Cardiff at home
If results go our way this weekend and we beat Cardiff we are safe so we have to win.
Re: Cardiff at home
I am not great at maths but given goal difference, I reckon if we win one of our remaining games they have to win 3 games to overtake us. So I guess a draw would limit their ability and our win could be against City as we owe them !!

We owe Arsenal one more than any other team I care to mention
But what we dont need is going into that last game needing to beat them
We all no how things go against that lot and it really would be a psychological potential doomsday disaster.

Cardiff have 6 games left. 4 are away from home and the two home games are v Palace and Liverpool. I think we need just 3 points to stay up

Wel thump them at home
Re: Cardiff at home
I'd certainly take 2 points from the next 2 games, however if Bournemouth beat us, I'd say a win v Cardiff is essential.
It'd just finish them off if we beat them.
I'm not sure the Brighton and Fulham games are going to be easy for them, 1s a 6 pointer, the other will be against a relegated team with all the pressure off.
I'm thinking they'll get 7 points at best from the next 6 games. That'd be their best run of results all season, at the time pressure the is greatest.
Brighton, Southampton and ourselves have been here before, it'll be a huge advantage.

Re: Cardiff at home
I don't know that I'd "take" a draw at Burnley, but it's definitely not a disaster if we draw it now. Cardiff need the win far more than we do - almost irrespective of our result on Saturday, but especially if we can get a point on Saturday (and if we get 3, Cardiff will virtually have to win at Burnley).

@theroyaldyche - I love your unerringly positive/definitive posts (even if somewhat delusiona, if you'll excuse me for saying so, on the odd occasion). If we do beat Cardiff I suspect it'll be closer to how we beat Fulham rather than 'thumping' them.
As for the general situation, a five point (or six, with GD) gap really is a big lead at this stage of the season. How often have we (or any other team for that matter) gone defeated for six straight games? Not often - so very unlikely we'll not get more points. Equally, how often do teams that have struggled all season suddenly dramatically improve? We did just after Christmas but other than that, I can't think of many, so the chances of both us imploding and Cardiff becoming unbeatable really are slim.
Still, I'd be very relieved if we won the next two games and basically put this relegation threat to bed.

Say city beat us 5-0 again and Chelsea 4-0 again. That takes us to -31. Cardiff win against us 1-0 we are level!

You don't turn around a -11 GD at this stage of the season, especially for struggling teams.
It's a shame people don't look at previous tables/results to see that.

Re: Cardiff at home
That could happen but at the latter end of the season when the pressure builds on teams the scoring becomes more of a tight affair
at Arsenal you could say we shipped a few in Wengers last game but we where already on the beach.
But when Huddersfield rock up at Stamford Bridge Chelsea had to win to gain a Champions league place and a 1-1 draw was the out come saving Huddersfield bacon

Next 2, ideally, get us out points. The remainder are all dodgy.
Brighton for relegation!

Re: Cardiff at home
Someone asked me yesterday if I think we'll stay up. I was cautious and pondered the question. I responded by saying if we went down from this position, we deserve to. Re the question, I think a point at this stage would suit us more than Cardiff. That said as another thread indicated, we can only take each game as it comes, but these are definitely two big games.
Re: Cardiff at home
If we cant beat Cardiff at home then we dont deserve to stay up. Not sure a draw will keep us up and a defeat will almost certainly relegate us. Our best chance of points in our last 4 games is Arsenal at home. How big was the dropped point v 10 man Leicester !! and the win v Spurs !!!!!

Re: Cardiff at home
Win both we are safe. In my eyes a draw at Bournemouth and beating Cardiff is job done.
The Turf should be as tense and loud as it was for the big games in my lifetime watching Burnley, both times against Plymouth to stave off relegation and to get to Wembley in the Playoffs, playoff against Reading, Boro at home, and like any game against Rovers. This matters.

Re: Cardiff at home
Have to kind of agree with FCBurnley in that if we can't beat them at home, then maybe we don't deserve to stop up and maybe they do and will. Plus, if you can't get enough points over 38 matches then clearly you're not good enough tbh. Ironically if we do beat Bournemouth and then Cardiff, depending on other results it could well suddenly be Brighton who are pooing their undies with Cardiff breathing down their necks rather than us.

Re: Cardiff at home
If we manage to beat Bournemouth, which won’t be easy and more than likely a loss, then a point v Cardiff would be better for us than them.
Whatever happens they HAVE to beat us, but 8 points (+ goal difference) if we win at the weekend makes a point invaluable. 1 less game for them to gain on us.

If we then lose our last 4 games by an average of 2 goals and they pick up just 5 points in their remaining games, which is quite possible, then they would most likely stay up on on GD.
Put it another way, if we lose at Bournemouth and draw against Cardiff, then (looking at the fixtures) I think Cardiff will consider that they are in with a really good chance.
