Re: Pakistan beat Afghanistan
Another absolutely pulsating finish, but Afghanistan really did snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Not long before the end the "win predictor" was 79% v 21% in their favour, but the captain simply blew it by bowling himself in the 48th and then 50th overs and he was garbage. The 48th went for 18! I suspect he was hunting personal glory and it badly backfired. Such a shame and the knock on effect is the extra pressure now on England. Crowd were phenomenal again!

No mention of this on the BBC

I wonder if the Guardian are carrying it.

Come on, man. Don’t let reality get in the way of a good agenda.Rileybobs wrote:You mean no mention here?

A little embarrassing isn’t it. You can pick from a guaranteed shortlist of posters who would have made that post too.SammyBoy wrote:Come on, man. Don’t let reality get in the way of a good agenda.

No place for that behaviour at the cricket.

Re: Pakistan beat Afghanistan
Credit to Pakistan they ground out a crucial win,Afghanistan are improving but lack the killer instinct, they should have beaten both India and Pakistan, but contrived to blow it at the death.
Impressive win for the Aussies easily defending 243,and skittling the Kiwis for 157,yet again showing low totals can be defended if you have the strike power.
That result puts New Zealand under pressure now,and it could be a winner takes all clash when they meet England at Chester-Le -Street.
Their narrow victory over the Windies is looking more important than expected at the time.
Firstly England have to pull off a victory tomorrow against India to keep our hopes alive.
Let's hope the do or die stakes bring out the best in this England team.
An unusual situation for the Pakistan fans they'll be cheering India on,through gritted teeth no doubt.

Will Pakistan be through then if they beat Bangladesh in their final game?

I''m not sure,Pakistan's handicap is their net RR,and it's so tight that could be the deciding factor.Foulthrow wrote:Will Pakistan be through then if they beat Bangladesh in their final game?
It looks like Bangladesh-Pakistan,and depending on the result today,England-New Zealand could effectively become KO games.
Meanwhile the Aussies are strolling atop the mountain, they even have the luxury of rotating in their dead rubber against South Africa, ditto India if they win today will confirm their SF place, with 2 games to spare.

I wasn't impressed with Afghanistan's captain Gulbadin (sp). They were doing so well until he put himself on to bowl the 48th and 50th ovets that went for a lot of runs. One of their spinners could probably have kept the score down giving them their first win.

You must be joking. If they are though it wont be the perpetrators fault. Its down to Empire no doubt. As a matter of interest its the second time Afghanistan has nearly pulled off victories.tarkys_ears wrote:No mention of this on the BBC

Obviously not. I would have the gumption to spend 5 seconds carrying out a simple internet search to see if a media outlet had covered the story before claiming that they hadn't.Stayingup wrote:Are tou referring to yourself there?

Afghanistan should have won that game. But it was a brilliant game to watch.
