With away games at Newcastle, Norwich, West Ham, Palace and Southampton and home games against Bournemouth, Sheffield United, Watford, Wolves and Brighton, you'd like to think we'll be OK .... I wouldn't write off the chance of points in home games against Arsenal & Spurs either ...
Already safe, and beating Brighton on the last Sunday of the season to relegate them would be rather lovely .... !!

Those additional columns kind of prove my point on another thread about our chances of relegation. West Ham, Watford and Norwich have a very tough next 4 matches and Bournemouth have the toughest fixtures of anyone, as things currently stand, for the remainder of the season. Of those teams only West Ham (at the moment) are averaging over a point per game...and I dare say that mighgt change after the next few matches. I'd have thought that 38 points should be enough for safety with 40 points being nigh on a certainty to stay up.

We are now in a position where 9 points for us means the bottom 3 can’t lose 27 points or we are safe. Handy place to be at this stage. More than 9 for us, emminently doable, would really rattle them.

Evening Trevor. So West Ham, Bournmouth, Norwich have them below us. And even then, they aren't the worst. It's more about Villa.

I was more interested in the fact that even Chelsea, in 7th place, have only got 9 points from their last 6. There isn’t much movement Northwards going on which makes our current advantage invaluable. Also the more teams below you they are either taking points of each other or playing teams battling for Europe. There will still be shock results, there always are, but I’m more than happy with our position. A win today I’ll be ecstatic.

An anomaly mdd2. It was the last season of 22 teams in PL. 4 were relegated after a 42 game season. It was the 43 points made me check I thought it was very high to go down.
Here’s the table the first week of March, they were 15th, just look at the bottom end or it will ruin your breakfast.

Brighton may have done enough to be safe with 33 points. Scrap between the bottom 5, with Norwich the first to confirm their relegation.
So long as Brentford or Fulham take 3rd spot in the promotion positions, I'll have the same number of "near by" games to get to next season, if and when they start to let fans back into the grounds.
