Now, when someone starts a thread about a game from, say, 1985 and says 'I remember that game because....' almost without fail, CT comes on and is able to give us inordinate additional detail e.g. 'ah, that's when so-and-so came back after an eyelash injury' or whatever.

It all makes me wonder if CT;

a) has a room full of diaries about every Burnley game he's been to, impeccably catalogued
b) is a bot
c) is an incredible 'memory man'

I don't know how he does it...I can't remember what I had for tea last night, let alone details from football matches 10, 20, 30, 40+ years ago!

Not professing to be CT but I can remember most of the burnley scores from the last 30 years - especially the many I attended.
Not sure how impressive a skill that is these days with the joys of google....but it was a decent party trick many years ago !

No diaries or cataloguing, don’t think I’m a bot. I just seem to have a good memory. Sausage & mash for tea last night by the way.

I’m terrible at remembering games / goals / scorers. A good few goals stand out but who they were against, what season or the final result, I can seldom recall.

Don't spoil it for me. I have this image of CT in a darkened room checking details of Maidstone v Burnley circa 1989 and remembering when the front wheel fell off his Reliant Robin on the way to the game but getting there in time to see John Deary score the winner, or some such odd story......

I find I can remember some things from 3 pm games and very little from 5.30 pm games.

I know now I have no chance of remembering even the score from a 7.45 pm game on a Saturday

I can remember the sixties games no problem but struggle to remember the more modern ones. CT clearly has a better memory than me but he is a mere youngster in comparison. He is certainly not a bot. Maybe Claret obsessive would be a better description

My memory of games from the 60's and 70's is far better than any other decade I've been watching us play. Just the game itself and then a report on Saturday evening or midweek to reinforce my images of the game. Tend to remember who I went with, where I stood, the result(obviously) and players who played or perhaps were missing for some reason. I am thoroughly enjoying our current status as an adult with my children and grandchildren but find it difficult to compare with those heady days,especially of the 1960's, when as a youngster and teenager the 'playing field' was much more level.
Along with the football I have a very good memory for the popular music of the 60's and 70's and when I hear a song from that time can often align it with a particular game we were involved in.

At Watford a couple of seasons ago I was talking to Stevie2112 about games we went to in the 1980s. My 13 year old son asked how we remember so many things as he can't remember what he did yesterday. Steve then trumped it by saying I remember driving through the Mersey tunnel going to Tranmere and you had Shot in the dark by Ozzy on the car stereo.

If anyone listens to Forgotten 80s on Absolute radio, a certain Herts Claret had that request played last Sunday evening.

I once knew a guy who could recite every Leeds game in order with goal scorers for something ridiculous like 25 seasons in a row.

It seemed totally useless at the time but he’s just published the Official History of Leeds United so he must’ve done something right.
