A shot of the disabled stand at full time yesterday. Sadly our friend Alan was missing from his usual position, replaced by the reflection of a sunbeam. I like to think the spirit of Beaky was there yesterday cheering us on

Alan's funeral details

Friday 31st January at Burnley Crematorium at 10 a.m.

Alan will leave the undertakers at 9 a.m. and will be taken past his beloved Turf Moor before the funeral an hour later. He requested that he doesn't want people in black but colours - so you can wear football shirts, Christmas jumpers or anything.

I'll post further details if and when I get them.

The Crem won't hold the number of people wanting to attend his funeral, myself included. Knowing how popular Alan was, I think Turf Moor would be packed if the service was held there.
I'd like funeral on the Turf.

Spoke to Terry last night. He is still none the wiser as to your identity......

Met him in Philly USA in the 90's here watching England. He heard from the barman that a Burnley fan was a regular and came back to find me. Had a couple of great evenings. Left me his address and phone number if i ever needed anything claret, or a spot on a coach when i visited home. Only met him and his mates that one visit. Top bloke. RIP.

When you walk into the club shop on a match day there are always two shirts on manikins - one Burnley shirt and one shirt that the opposition are wearing. Really nice touch on Sunday; this was the back of the Burnley shirt.

I was a member of the Colne Clarets back in the 90s which he used to run. That was back when I used to travel with them for all away games with my dad. Alan was very warm, generous and welcoming. A great loss to all. RIP Alan.

IMG_20200117_181029.jpgI remember going to Wembley on a coach with Alan which I think was British Gas social club to watch England v Holland pre 1982 World Cup. Alan was resplendent in a tshirt emblazoned 'Northern Muff Divers Association ' on the front and "No muff to wide we dive at 5' on the back.

And here is Beaky wearing that t shirt

Alan's funeral is this morning at 10 a.m. at Burnley Crematorium. He'll be going past the Turf on the way there.

It's going to be a very difficult day for so many of us who were able to call him a good friend. Please have his family in your thoughts - his wife Georgina, son Simon and his wife Belinda, step daughter Francesca and her husband Simon, and his three grandchildren Layton, Skye and Aiden.

Thanks so much Alan for being such a good friend.

Funeral service was so Alan. The place was packed and beyond. Says everything about him.

I’ve got an order of service which I’ll scan when I get home.

So hard saying goodbye to such a good friend.

I was on that train. I had to leg it to the stadium, just got to the top of the steps when the game kicked off. My then father in law couldn't run and we were 1 down when he got in.

What an amazing turn out for him today. I was really struggling emotionally when he arrived with his hat on top of the coffin and when he went in to Bette Midler's 'The Rose' but the funeral was lovely and the celebrate had certainly got a grasp of just what sort of bloke Beeky was. He did choose his own music so probably no surprise we left at the end to 'Leap up and down and wave your knickers in the air'.

I posted above that it has been so hard saying goodbye to such a good friend, and it has. I'll never forget him though.

As promised, the order of service is below. I'm not sure but I think the first pic might have been taken at Olympiacos. I don't think I want to know where the second one was taken.

Top turn out as expected. Good number outside Turf and packed inside the crem, the whole Isle down to the front and the glass box at the back where we were stood.

Good to see the Claret family come together from around the country and across Europe.
