There has been speculation all week about him leaving. A good look down the league tables and their appear to be only two clubs where the manager could possibly leave. CP, if Hodgson retires and I’ve seen no leaks on that, and Newcastle if the takeover goes ahead and Bruce is dispensed with. Pochettino has already been heavily linked with Newcastle.
I’m disregarding Villa and Watford. If they stay up the incumbent will keep his job, if relegated see below.

I can’t see him wanting to drop down a division into the dog eat dog world of the Championship. He has already proved himself there twice.

He is a progressive manager who might be tempted abroad for his own education but with the PL still regarded as the best league in the world I’d doubt it.

I’m going to sleep easy. He’ll see out the next two years with us. UTC.

Managerial changes happen very quickly, I don't agree that he would not want the Villa job if they went down. The championship are considering suspending FFP rules and Villa gave loads of dosh. I t would be One step back and three forwards as far as he is concerned. Also I think Dyche feels that is Garlick continues with the current fiscal approach, it will be difficult to keep Burnley up next season

Hodgson is only signing short term deals at Palace. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Dyche ended up there in a year or two.

I think there is too much assumption that we are alone in the financial dip caused by Covid. Every club has suffered and I don't see evidence to support every owner aside from ours pushing money forward to cover losses.

I would venture to suggest most will be very cautious as the future is still very uncertain.

Dyche would more than likely face the same challenges at any other club within his scope because in my opinion he isn't destined to manage at the elite level. He is good, no doubt about that but somehow I don't think his ideas suit the traditional big clubs.

Palace must be the worst ground in the PL to get to from the north.

Sean has just been in Robbie Savage’s R5 radio show. As usual he sounded very upbeat and came out with the usual stuff about mentality, commitment etc. He successfully swerved the question about if he will still be in charge next season as well as whether Dwight will still be at TM.
However no real probing just the usual obsequious fawning from Savage. We need Laura Kuenssberg to grill him.
No mention of the banner thankfully.

If ever he quits Burnley a career in politics awaits as he has become very skilful at waffling on without giving a direct answer. He did come up with a cliche I hadn’t heard before apparently the players all “have their noses pointing in the right direction “ which is good to know.

Don't forget sunderland he was taking the job until their manager did a u turn on leaving!

Tend to echo JohnMac's comment. I think Dyche's values, outlook and vision are one of everyone pulling together in the same direction. Club, fans and community. There's a great deal of emphasis on togetherness. I am not convinced he'd get the time at a so called 'bigger' club because they are more geared to wanting success yesterday, than building a solid foundation within the community and club for the long term.
He'd be better suited to a club of similar size and of a similar traditional community. WBA or Palace type clubs. Although as suggested. A lot of clubs will be wary of splashing the cash in these uncertain times.

Phew. I was worried some might have come back with their noses pointing in the wrong direction. Lawton’s looked out of place but it’s hard to see amongst all the facial chub these days

Good to know because nose placement issues are the last thing we need with all the banners, injuries, OOC players, MG/SD fued going on.

Out of interest, how did he swerve the next season question in relation to himself and McNeil?

Good points, though maybe he now feels that the club aren't pulling in the same direction after the contract renewal shambles? This is why I think he'll leave at the end of the season, even without a job offer. Hope I'm talking crap, but it's how I feel at the moment.

I dont think Newcastle is an option mainly because of the job Bruce has done, and I don't think they would see SD as an improvement. It would take a Poccetinho to be employed for Bruce to go, or a Benitez

Clubs keen on SD would be WHU, AV and Palace.I think having been influential and in control at Burnley for 7 years WHU would be the wrong fit for him and they would whip him out after a winless run of games. AV might appeal if they stay up, but cannot see that happening. He would be a good fit at Palace and I think they would welcome the stability he gives the club-a phased intro with Roy departing eventually is something I could envisage. The journey from Kettering though is not an easy one

His ultimate dream job would be Leicester and maybe he is hoping that will come free in 18 months. They are a community club, with good compassionate owners, strong fan base and have a great team of players and within 25 miles of where he lives. It would be great locationaly too for Woan and the other main coach. I believe both are from the East Midlands. The beauty of this for clarets fans is I could not see this happen for another 18-24 months which is roughly when SD's contract runs out. Rogers is an ambitious manager and may well be tapped up if Leicester win nothing trophy wise soon.We have to appreciate we will not have him for ever. Would bet anything he will not extend his contract

I fully understand what you are saying, all clubs are in the same boat, but some are financially supported by very rich owners who are prepared to speculate a little to help the manager acquire his transfer targets. This is not the case at Burnley leaving SD frustrated each and every year.

He might be frustrated, but he gets £3m a year for his working life, or a smaller amount one assumes, if we go down. So basically a great job for life and the satisfaction of keeping us punching above our weight. Worth moving his family to the Ribble Valley or Yorkshire Dales for imo.

It is only four words but makes such a big difference-owners who are VERY rich. Our owners may be very rich compared with Mr Average BFC fan but they are poor relations compared with the PL team owners and many in the Championship clubs.

SDs next move is so important to his career.

There have been many managers who have been the bees knees for a year or two right back to Brown was he was at Hull and dozens since , the names I can’t remember ( which is my point). If he is not successful in his next job he may well join that list

Right now is not the time to gamble. His stock will rise when we finish mid table, or above, and even more if we stay up next year

If I were he the only reason I would leave is if I thought relegation was nailed on next season

And that maybe why he could walk having been told there is precious little money for transfers other than from selling assets and if SD thinks the likes of Benson, Glennon, Goodridge Koiki and Philips (if they re-sign) are not up to it at this level.
A five year stint at this level for a club like ours where funds are limited is one hell of a feat.

What really puzzles me is the timing of Dyche’s outburst.

The Chairman like all chairman is trying to manage the club during a period of unprecedented financially uncertainty.

I could understand Dyche venting his frustration several times in the past when we have had very disappointing transfer windows.

If anything the Chairman’s prudent stewardship in the past has been proved right and enabled the club to build up a contingency fund which has cushioned the current financial impact.

Dyche professes to be a student of wider business management, if he is why is he venting his frustration at this time and not more sympathetic to the clubs current financial challenge?

Just a thought, but might be frustrated because he wants to take Burnley to the next level. If he was adamant in leaving at the end of the season what would be the point of speaking out at at this juncture.
During the lockdown, SD appeared to me, very much keeping himself in the public consciousness appearing on no end of radio and TV programmes. I know our Shaun is media savvy but I felt he was possibly stretching it a bit. He also indicated that beside spending quality time with his family, he was also reflecting. To me that is the crucial word in all this. If he were to leave, maybe he may in years to come regret and thing if only. Who knows but grass is not always greener on the other side.

I’ve always thought he’d go to a club on the continent. I think his methods would reap rewards just about anywhere, and I think success there would give him the experience to return to the U.K. at a big club.

I hope he stays with us because I think his project here has more success in store.

I think the timing is perfect. We are not "skint" skint and SD knows the reality of working within our budget.

He wanted to keep Jeff Hendrick and, I suspect, Jeff wanted to stay. SD knows it will probably cost more to buy another Jeff Hendrick + wages than keep the original, and settled, Jeff. I suspect the hand of an Agent at work here.

Sean was simply making a stand for his players, and quite rightly so.

15 - Love to the Board at present but, if SD walks, then it's Game, Set and Match to him.

Fair point Summit. I suppose what we don’t know is how much has been said behind closed doors and for how long. It’s certainly not unusual for managers to use the media to influence decisions in the club.

I think it was more trying to force MG's hand re Bardsley and Hendrick. He managed to get one, but not the other. Hendrick has always been a losing battle - apparently contract talks had been ongoing for quite a while.

My fear also.

If the right amount of cash was put on the table by the likes of Villa, he'd be silly to turn it down.

Family and Future come first but, I doubt whether he'll be able to do what he's done here at any other Club.

I’d suggest not, Smith has them playing good football. They lack a top goalscorer and like most teams that don’t score many they seem to concede one soft goal. I think they’ll give him some more dosh to try and solve his problem.
