Royal Mail
Royal Mail
Just curious how things are affected in your areas. I am aware of backlogs and problems, which is fair enough as we are in the middle of a Pandemic. I've only seen a postman/woman twice in three weeks anywhere in this area and not seen a van in weeks. Took two weeks to get a first class parcel from Huddersfield and a regular order I get from Luton usually takes two days. That's coming up two weeks now. Lord knows when an order we have coming from Germany will get here. Question is. Does anyone know if it is just a backlog due to Covid? Not seen anything in the news. Thought someone was abducting all our posties for a while. Not complaining about Royal Mail, just curious if it's nationwide or if they're having bigger problems.

Re: Royal Mail
To be honest I don't have much delivered by the Royal Mail these days but my match programmes for Watford, Palace and Sheffield United all arrived in good time.

Re: Royal Mail
Don’t get much post delivered tbh but have seen a postie around here everyday tbh
Re: Royal Mail
Must be a local sorting office problem then. Most of our orders are delivered by Amazon or Hermes, occasionally FedEx but these three orders seem to all have been sent by Royal Mail/International Mail. Just find it strange there's no posties walking around. Usually see lots of them. Seen two in a few weeks.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 5:22 pmTo be honest I don't have much delivered by the Royal Mail these days but my match programmes for Watford, Palace and Sheffield United all arrived in good time.

Re: Royal Mail
I can only speak from a small local perspective, our postie has delivered every day, originally they started with 2 in a van and then that policy changed so they went to 1 per van and alternated shifts, so one postie on for three days and then the second for the next three days
This has changed slightly again as we have had the same postie for about eight weeks now still working solo, but working all six days.
No change in delivery times and little or no noticeable delays.

Re: Royal Mail
On a related note, Burnley Sorting Office is only open for two hours a day for four weekdays each week (closed Wednesdays) - 7am to 9am! What's that all about?!?

I think the guess is more accurate than wildpushpinpussy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 5:39 pmjust a wild guess but might be something to do with Covid
Re: Royal Mail
One can only assume with social distancing within the sorting offices they're struggling to cope with demand.Sean Dyche's Watch wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 5:37 pmOn a related note, Burnley Sorting Office is only open for two hours a day for four weekdays each week (closed Wednesdays) - 7am to 9am! Re: Royal Mail
Ive never seen as many postmen/women since the lockdown. They've been doing a sterling job in the Colne area.. Good on them.

Re: Royal Mail
As others have said, no more van sharing, Posties are having to catch buses/walk to their rounds, also some staff with medical conditions have been shielding since March so staffing levels are struggling.BenWickes wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 5:21 pmJust curious how things are affected in your areas. Re: Royal Mail
No problems round here at all and any deliveries have been arriving on schedule or even earlier.
Re: Royal Mail
Must be a backlog, lack of staff and social distancing here then. Still weird that there's no posties though. Probably too busy sorting.
Re: Royal Mail
I understood initially that they delivered alternate days instead of every day.

I ordered something from Hong Kong and it's coming by sea (taking about one month) whereas it would normally come by air (about five days)

I buy and sell a lot of Football Shirts. 4 have been 'lost' during the virus.
Frustrating to say the least.

Re: Royal Mail
Best thing up here in Hest Bank is a huge reduction in junk mail since C-19 hit.
I know it helps finance the Royal Mail, but it is, mostly, rubbish that ends up in recycling.
10/10 for our posties.

Re: Royal Mail
This, RM under no pressure to not bring parcels back, unlike Amazon, hermes and yodel who only get paid for when it's delivered so will leave it anywhere.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 3:56 pmI bet the other companies are ahem, losing a lot more parcels than the Royal Mail.

Re: Royal Mail
Royal Mail have been brilliant through the lockdown, way more reliable than any of the courier companies.
