It does sound like an interesting role, but I can’t imagine the salary being great, and you’re pretty much a relegation away from losing your job.

Thats the spirit!

I imagine that the most suitable candidate for the role would command the market rate as a minimum for that sort of job.

I wouldn't want to guess at any figures but I would think it would bring a very good salary.

Just a thought, but the successful candidate is likely to have enough ambition and drive to look beyond an obsession with relegation.

It will be a senior person who has the credibility to deal with other senior leaders in business and broker high value transactions. This is the next frontier of untapped revenue for clubs and I am pleased Burnley are looking at it.

Will open many doors for someone with the right skill set.

4 weeks holiday a year?! That certainly wouldn’t do for me, I’m used to 13!

Salary is probably much better, mind.

It's a misquote. Should read 'Subsidised Jim'. He's an apprentice from Bacup. He'd be your assistant.

I love this discussion about 20 days paid holidays, plus 8 bank hols, being on the "stingy" side. Has no one worked out that the job involves watching the Clarets, both home and away, and that will all be paid time. So, let's say 38 Premier League games, and each game counts as half a day's work - as the person will be entertaining sponsors and prospective sponsors, isn't that another 19 days when you are being paid to do what you would love to be doing anyway?

If you love your job, you don't measure it on the number of days you aren't required to show up at work.

Maybe this role is dependent on staying in the Premier League. I'd expect lower sponsorship payments if relegated to Championship, so maybe staying employed would also be dependant on a quick promotion.

There may be some job security by looking at the Commercial Director role. Maybe the higher paid job would be the one that gets cut with falling to Championship. More importantly, if you are good at the job, then there are always 20 Premier League clubs, so, do a great job for Burnley and your next career step will be another Premier League club, or a similar sponsorship relationship role across many other sports and other cultural events.

I'm 67 next birthday. I wish all candidates for the role every success.

Of we want to be attract the best candidates then the package has to be competive. You can get away with 20 days if the salary is extra ordinary, but I cannot see that being the case with us.

I'd also guess that alot of time could be spent down London, as that is where the UK clients will predominantly be headquartered.

I still think its exactly what we should be doing, but having it outsourced to a London company or consultant that specialises in this area. This would then also give us the option to reduce our costs accordingly if ever needed

Not convinced. Someone with the right skill set, experience and from Burnley would be the perfect candidate.

Also will be based on KPI’s so chance to get more holidays and pay/bonuses or what ever floats your boat. Hope we find out who gets it and see background etc. Whatever I wish them the best of success, we just drew with the PL Champions, European Champions And World Club Champions, that should help sell the club a little bit

Thanks for the tip off.

I put my application in right away.

Had a call this morning. Impressed by my cv.
When do I want to start dispensing the chicken and chips?

Think my writing must be bad and the postman delivered my application to the wrong place!

I can’t imagine Fletch being able to do this job but if we were ever looking for former players to act as ambassadors, as other clubs do, he would be perfect.

He’s very busy though with UCFB & his stadium work.

I was baffled when I saw this and spotted I was the last but one to post on the thread.

To answer your question Chester Perry, I don't think we ever heard any more from the club on that one and I don't recall any appointment.

That's what I thought, though I suspect with a little thought you may know the purpose of why I am asking

I would have thought, given the new intake of directors, that the role might no longer be required.

will the new directors all be moving to Burnley, or even to the UK? Somehow I doubt it and the role required someone who would be in Burnley regularly.

Some of them will be Burnley based, I think most of them are already in the UK.

That's reassuring, thank you, I certainly thought at least two of those named would not be UK based.

it was from the summer when the Club was looking to build its commercial activity globally - I suspect the huge travel restrictions and closed door games had a role to play in it not going any further at that time - may change soon though
