there have been a whole host of transactions across Europe this window with bids accepted substantially below the release clause of the player in question- Wolves Silva purchase being a single example less than a third of the actual clause was paid and then agents walked away with nearly 30% of that - release clause effectively force the club to let a player talk to the bidder that's all

Are you feeling ok?... only 2 paragraphsLong Time Lurker wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 6:21 pmIn response to the possibility of life on Venus, Burnley have decided to add Max Burn to their recruitment team.
Burny used to be a Barista with Starbucks and despite having no technical scouting experience the plan is for him to identify players and possibly make a valuable contribution in the next 10 to 20 years. Sources say that this is a long term strategic move to get ahead of the planetary arc.

I was thinking that. Got my jim jams on, lit my pipe, popped my slippers on for a good read. Very disappointed LTL. Not one of your better novels, I mean; contributions.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Smiles, I split it up into 2 paragraphs to make it look like more. I'm current having to direct an inordinate amount of my energy towards keeping my optimism up. The 5m offer for Davies dented it a bit more, but apparently that offer was rejected. So much for the daft idea that waiting until late in the windows might reduce the potential to become involved in bidding wars.
I'm also occupied with the process of finishing up my Christmas shopping ( for gifts, the turkey can wait ).
I'm working on the premise that Covid will still be around and the en-masse shopping expeditions to retails stores will be curtailed in some way ( although they might not be if the Government continues to put economic factors before public healthy factors ). Even without our incompetent Governments intervention I suspect that a lot of sensible people will shift their buying online.
In the event that shoppers do buy more online this year ( which would have probably happened as an extension of developing consumer shopping habits anyhow ) choice could become limited very quickly as things sell out, prices will rise for what is left and deliveries could overload the postal services that will result in significant delays.
So I opted to start my main Christmas shopping at the start of September, instead of leaving it until October. It is called forward planning and being aware of potential changes in the market place. The net result should be more choice, cheaper prices and care free delivery for me. So far I have picked up quite a lot of bargains, got almost everything I wanted and it is all sitting here waiting to be wrapped.
No fuss, no stress, and so far no problems. However, the price of a specific OOP jigsaw I wanted has sky rocketed on EBAY ( along with many other nice OOP designs ). It used to go for £5 before Covid and now it is going for £20.
I'm guessing the silver surfer puzzlers are shopping for things to fill their time during lock downs. I've also noticed early price leaps for products like graphic tablets ( I need one of those as well ) decent web cams and headsets etc.
Leaving things until the last minute hardly every works out well and it rarely results in bargains. The same is true for buying players. If a club leaves it until the last minute they could end up empty handed or paying a price that is over the odds for a player who is well down their wanted list - or possibly wasn't even on their list.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Have some of you spent all summer obsessing over this ? I don’t see any desperate need for new bodies. Barney’s back on the grass and Erik (good pro) can cover at least three positions. Plus we’ve got the up and coming Longy to provide adequate cover at centre half. It’s sorted.
We should direct our efforts to sorting out contract extensions for some of the lads out of contract at the end of the season. Westy, Cork, Longy, Lowts, Bardsley, Brady, for example. Good lads who’ve got at least 3-4 years left at the top level. Let’s get it done.

You could be pleased at the end of the window then. I’ve heard from one source that Garlick would be happy to stretch it out for this window and if we don’t sign anyone so be it ( if we don’t sell Tarkowski which would need a much higher bid). Agree about Pieters. Think he did a good covering job in a different position.SkiptonClaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 8:00 amHave some of you spent all summer obsessing over this ? Milot Rashica available from Werder Bremen - promising midfielder who was interesting Aston Villa - he performed well in an underachieving team last season and has potential.

What a great set of CB options we’d have if we had Mee, Tarks, Dawson & Long!

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Dawson seems the obvious stop gap back up. Was never convinced by Worrall. I'm not au fait with Championship up and comers overall though and we could do with a young one. Bobby Thomas perchance one for the future?
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Hopefully we’ll reap the rewards of a Barnfield built young prospect soon, instead of buying up another club’s one
And I think Dawson will be a fine player if we signed him
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Can't see many of Westy, Cork, Longy, Lowts, Bardsley and Brady
being offered contract extensions unless they have a blinding season.
Apart from possibly Westwood.
If so then probably only another 12 months as back up?
Most will be 30+
We'll need to built our future team (say next 2/3 years) around Pope, Taylor
McNeil, Tarks & Mee, Wood, Jayrod and Vydra assuming they all stay.

3 primarily right sided centre backs although Tarkowski can and has played on the left side

Oh not disagreeing at all. Still a good few years in them yet but we should be trying to bring in younger players preferably in the next year.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Agreed. I don’t know any left-sided CB’s that I want/would be available.
Think in this circumstance we are looking for a quality, experienced CB, able to cover Tarks if he goes but professional enough to be part of the squad. That’s not too expensive. For me, nobody better than Dawson to tick all those boxes. From the NW too.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
the new Sky deal with China should ease some nerves and perhaps give a little sense of security around the future for all clubs and allow the Board to factoring that in to future planning, every little bit helps.

I notice on Transfermarkt that Jozo Simunovic is listed as a free. We were supposedly interested in him a few years back. Still only 26.
There looks to be a few players available on a free, still at a reasonable age, that look to have lost their way.
If we really are struggling then you wonder if a short term deal for someone like Aleix Garcia who was at City, and is only 23, would be worth a punt.

Fulham being linked with Craig Dawson today, if we did/do want him.. that won't do our chances of getting a decent price any good.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If the potential investors to BFC are making the club nervous about buying new players , then what about the loan market. I know Chelsea are prepared to let Tomori out on loan-Everton are keen. I am certain Lampard will only loan him to a club that can give him as much first team playing time as possible, and he is too good to drop to the Championship. If you look at the strength of the Everton squad versus ours , then if you are looking at the chances of playing first team football there is only one choice. Lets face it no-one knows if Tarkowski will be still at the club on 5 October. This guy is such a good CH he would walk into a number of PL sides
