Like I posted earlier it looks to be recycled info - Leeds were interested the other week but then cooled their interest and seem to be looking elsewhere.burnleymik wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 9:15 pmSo Leeds and Southampton now showing interest in Wilson...we going to have the rug pulled from under our feet here?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
To be fair Leeds marquee signing has just fell through could be something in them going for Wilson now
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It's not like us to be faffing around for a while and then lose out last minute.
If we were interested, I'm sure once we know we cannot get him, we will have moved on swiftly to another target and have started working on it immediately.
We will finish this window stronger than we started it remember
Keel the faith!

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Apparently our offer falls a considerable way short of what Liverpool
want for him (about 4m short) but they might go for 14m +4m add ons
which would be a reasonable compromise.
I think Liverpool have overpriced him but may have decided to put him
in the shop window tonight and see whether anyone else might come
in with a better offer.
Given he doesn't seem to have had a great game and missed a penalty
that may have back fired in more ways than one.

All gone quiet since the decision was made that tarkowski was going nowhere, whilst there is no guarantee of that until the window is shut it seems any incoming transfers was hinging on tarkowski's sale, that said I doubt we'll have any further incomings, but certainly need at least 2 imo, fingers crossed I'm wrong.

Hendrick, Hart and Lennon all left before the transfer window opened. And we’ve brought in Norris as well as Stephens.burnleymik wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 10:42 pmAs things stand? Losing Hendrick, Hart and Lennon, but only Bringing in Dale Stephens?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Hendrick is a loss, but we've brought in Stephens, and Benson might get more of a chance this season, he's not let us down in his displays so far, and he's certainly capable of playing a bit part role from the bench.burnleymik wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 10:42 pmAs things stand? Hart has been replaced by BPF, and he's looked more than up to the task of being a number 2, or even filling in for Pope if required.
Lennon was another who was at best a bit part player, and he's not really been missed.
In addition all 3 of those mentioned were some of our biggest earners, so it's great that we've got them off the wage bill.
Whether we bring anyone else in this window or not, as long as we can get our injured players back, we've got more than enough to survive in this league, what we don't want is too recruit players who are no better than what we already have, as once our crocks are back, they'll be relegated to warming the bench, while earning big bucks.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Tell you what we have finally seen is more of the younger/ reserve players;
BPF, Dunne & Benson - real potential there, may as well be 3 new signings and bench options waiting for their chance.
We didn’t see their potential 6 months ago

Just read that. It's not saying we don't already know though. He's bound to have interest. It's more touting his name to clubs where they feel he'd get game time rather than anything concrete. There'll be a fair bit more of names and clubs being bandied around as the window looms ever closer.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 7:27 amHere we go, I was afraid this was going to happen...

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
All that means is Liverpool and his agent are advertising the fact he's available to media outlets to try and bump and justify the price, promoting gazumping to get themselves a better deal. The question is whether we flinch and raise the offer...ClaretAL wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 7:27 amHere we go, I was afraid this was going to happen...

I’d like to know if our bid has been rejected. If so, I’d walk away and try for other targets, see if they come back on Monday!
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I don't disagree, it's just that it's getting too late for other targets, if all our eggs were in that basket
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I think it means his agent knows we are never going to meet the price, so he needs to advertise the goods elsewhere.

If Harry Wilson is our main target we are in trouble
We need a starting CM an experienced CB well before him

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I'd say a wide man and CB are the 2 key areas. A genuine first team winger, and at least a capable stand in 3rd choice CB, making Long 4th which is fair enough.
Long cannot be 3rd choice and/or play more than a couple of times a season when desperate.
Regards wide men, Pieters cannot keep needing to step in, we create very little as it is, never mind with a LB playing RW. Yes he gives his all and plug a gap for emergencies, but he cant be starting games there.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Anyone seen enough of Wilson to think he would be a good signing for us? Always seems like a set piece merchant who drifts in and out of games to me. Not overly fussed if we miss out on him.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I was pleasantly shocked when we were first linked, but in retrospect I’m never keen on a left footer on the right wing. It’s the checking back to get a cross in I don’t like. That’s not to say I wouldn’t take him (perhaps even as a RW but able to cover Dwight when JBG is back), but as a first choice RW I’d ideally prefer a right footer.
I may have a different opinion on this if he’d torn Arsenal apart last night but, since he didn’t, I’d just sit tight. Liverpool have a rep for selling very well. Fair play to them, but if they are going to tout him around he’s obviously not set on coming here so I’d walk away. See if the call back Monday and even then, perhaps ask for a loan with an option to buy given the lateness!
I think there might be may desperate clubs/agents trying to offload fringe players come Monday.
We can still sign Championship players thereafter and to be honest there’s players I’d equally if not more like to sign in the Championship than Wilson!
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Can’t see us getting Wilson. I just hope we have other options. Ideally, I’d like to see JBG fit for the season but that seems unlikely.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Sheff United signing Rhian Brewster for £23.5m. Real intent to find goals which they appear to be lacking. Meanwhile we are still flapping around despite clear areas we are lacking. Clock is certainly ticking now!
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I wouldn't mind us taking a gamble on Ryan Kent.
23 years old, RW, plenty of time to develop, from Oldham so a local lad, had a good upbringing at Liverpool, scored 11 in 30 ( although in the Scottish league ) and is available for 10m. You'd hope we can pay as much as Rangers are paying him.
Much prefer at least 1 right footed winger, and seems an ideal type to balance from McNeil on the left.

The thing is if he'd torn Arsenal apart last night the price would have gone up and more teams would have been competing for his signature. What is it with people requiring all wingers to play on the correct side of their favourite foot? Haven’t you been watching football for the last 15 years?

I've watched a couple of Rangers games this season and Kent wasn't all that good. However, Leeds manager seems to rate him.MACCA wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 9:03 amI wouldn't mind us taking a gamble on Ryan Kent.

I think that makes over £50 million that Sheffield United have spent in this window. If you add on what they spent when they first got promoted they must have shelled out £100 million plus.

Big money from sheff united on Brewster, although Liverpool have a buy back clause active for 3 years.
Shaqiri to leave before the deadline. He would be perfect for us. Stretch as far as we can for him and if the player turns us down fair enough.

I think it's now very much a case of seeing if we can get 1-2 from the Championship before the 15th deadline.

Why does anybody think Shaqiri would be anywhere near our price bracket? And if we could afford the fee, and his wages, I couldn’t see him being remotely interested in coming to burnley!
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Is anybody actually surprised that we're dragging our heels? This transfer window has been more embarrassing than all the others, and that takes some doing.

True. I was just saying that I would likely feel differently about signing him, had he had a stormer last night. I wasn't suggesting we should change our transfer strategy off the back of one bad game, if it's who Sean wants (or, more likely, who we might be able to afford).Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 9:04 amThe thing is if he'd torn Arsenal apart last night the price would have gone up and more teams would have been competing for his signature. if we go down its only because the gulf in finance has got too wide for us now. Without a wealthy backer/ investors it was always going to happen just surprised reality has really hit in covid year where everyone was rumoured to be spending cautious this transfer window.
Simple as that unfortunately.

Hardly surprising that the few links that were lukewarm, at best, suddenly went cold once it was all but confirmed that Tarks would be staying.
Now plainly obvious that we needed to sell first and buy later.
Loan from a Championship club is now the likely outcome.

Think this is the exact problem we face - £23.5m for a player only proven at Championship level. It's shocking, really, but shows why Liverpool aren't prepared to take £12+4m for Wilson and why we can't compete in this market. Need to step down or go abroad, I think.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 9:15 amI think that makes over £50 million that Sheffield United have spent in this window. We're so far away from being able to compete in the transfer market its frightening. Our much trumpeted financial prudence was fine whilst everything was going smoothly.
