He only tends to say it if he does have a tale in my experience
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Seems to be a number of fans who consider Stephens a squad player, I disagree.
He's good enough to start and will do for a while, it will be up to Corky to force his way back in when he's available for selection.
Brownhill will fill in on the right hand side until JBG/new signing ? are available. Again I think Brownhill will need to displace Stephens and not the other way round.
If we are after a sitting midfielder then look no further than Ilias Chair at QPR.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It’ll only go on for so long, you’ll see measures slowly introduced to mitigate the impact you can’t hold out forever, everybody is in the same boat to a certain degree but with being a relative small club with no outside investment it’s more noticeable, it’s admirable in some respects the way the situation is being managed despite not enough signings to properly strengthen the source of frustration for some.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 4:14 pmCovid has affected a lot of companies and clubs, and we have seen some of the measures taken by companies to trim staff levels.
If the club is therfore so skint, why are we not making redundancies in the RECRUITMENT team which now seems quite sizeable in terms of people and salaries. Can we even justify it based on results. Its been running for 2 years and we have in terms of first team Pieters, Jay Rod, Hart, Brownhill and Stephens to show for it. I believe Jay Rod was on the cards for several years anyway and Brownhill was being tracked for some time too, and we know Stephens nearly signed for us 4 years ago. Lets face it based on this window and our finances we are unlikely to be pulling in new players for quite a while. Plus our recruitment from abroad is abysmal. Is Mr Garlick pleased with what has been achieved by this team. It seems that SD spends the majority of his press talks back-pedalling on recruitment of player questions, when he should be focused on the next game

It’s all so quiet, usually hearing some mutterings by now of incomings.
It would be a sad state of affairs if we don’t bring in at least another 2 players able to slot straight into the first team as a minimum. We really require a couple more than that to be fair but it won’t be happening.

**EDIT** - Actually once we got past the Wilson questions and transfer stuff, he seemed to relax a little.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Nor have I, really, but from what I have seen he has one basic skill - whipping in great crosses. Stats back that up as BC’s most influential player - 12 assists, 56 key passes. Re: position, BC play wingbacks (no wingers) so he’s had to accept a role on the bench/being played out of position.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 3:20 pmMaybe, I've honestly not seen anywhere near enough of him to say either way. But from what I've read BC had to adapt their formation last season to accommodate him, and this season he's been playing out of position at left wing back. I'm not writing him off by any means, I just think that PL scouting teams would be all over him at £2m if they thought he could cut it at the top level.
My view is that whipping a cross in is one of those skills that could easily transfer to the PL. Not suggesting he’s a starter, just that he’d be useful to stick on with 20 minutes to go when we need a goal with JRod/Wood up front. And at 24 could be one we could develop. At £2.2m, not much risk & ticks our “inexpensive” box!

I think there is no player involved, but with one day of the window to go he will tell us about people who "got away" that we were interested in, and generally rub our noses in it. Seems to be very anti-Burnley at present
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Has he been anything but anti-Burnley? Wasn't he good friends with Qwen Coyle too? I guess he hasn't had much chance to gloat since we last got promoted so he's probably loving the SD/MG fallout speculation and the last 3 or 4 crappy windows for us.I think there is no player involved, but with one day of the window to go he will tell us about people who "got away" that we were interested in, and generally rub our noses in it. We will do our usual scattergun approach and put out loads of names in the press of players ‘we are trying to sign’ but end up with none. Garlick will come out and tell us what a tough window it’s been followed by Rigg who will tell us what planed for January. Then we’ll just repeat the above again!

Eliasson at £2.2m is insane value, get him in asap, even if he fails spectacularly he will still be able to fill in on the right and his crossing looks superb, seems a no brainer signing to me

If we have reached the end of our spending £1 million must be a new record for the smallest amount spent by an established PL club in the summer transfer window.

We're back in for Dawson at Watford apparently. West Ham and Fulham also interested.
We do need a solid 3rd choice option before the 15th deadline.

I guess it depends on how confident we are in Dunne. He could be our 4th choice.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I find it all a bit ironic. We're looking at Dawson when we have sent Gibson out on loan, who IMO wouldhave been good alongside Tarks now that Mee is injured. This would have been the ideal opportunity for Gibson to stake his claim for regular first team football.
I honestly can't see us bringing anyone in now and have given up on any expectations.

Burnley's move for Wales winger Harry Wilson, 23, could now collapse as they are reluctant to meet Liverpool's £15m asking price. (Football Insider)

Love the way how over 2 years we have built up this huge team of Technical Director and analysts claiming to know everything about any player in the world-probably can tell us what these guys eat for lunch
So what are the results two years down the line for this much needed window, with two days to go. One is Stephens who we should have signed 4 years ago. Now the next rumor at the twelfth hour is Dawson who we have been courting since our initial interest in Stephens and who we have tried to sign half a dozen times. Both of course are very needy players for us. However Mr Garlick is this the best your team of recruiters can do
