From what I'm told the Quaison deal is now off. I believe he is likely to stay with Mainz.
The Allgemeine Zeitung writes that Robin Quaison was about to be sold in recent days. "It was close," confirms Mainz sports director Rouven Schröder. According to the newspaper, it was Burnley who tried to buy the Swedish national team striker. Quaison is said to have a buyout clause of 15 million euros, that is also what Mainz wants, but not what Burnley would be willing to pay. In the past, Tottenham have also been stated to be interested. The Allgemeine Zeitung concludes the article with the words "A move does not seem likely at the moment". Continuation may follow.
The Allgemeine Zeitung is a German regional daily newspaper, published in Mainz
Disappointing that 14 million quid is out of our league for a player who looks like he could improve the first team. Of course there's no indication that he wanted to come to Burnley.

I think the deal was far enough down the road to be assured that Quaison was interested. I'd no idea it was off, other than I was told that was the situation, but it isn't a surprise if it is the case that we couldn't agree on a price.

If that is true, then it would mean we've turned down the 35+5 million, which is good. The club have believed to have already said £50 million.
Don't believe those figures, in fact I wouldn't believe the suggestion from Sky last week that they'd even been back in with a third offer.

As the article says, there's time yet. I still think this may happen as both Burnley and Mainz might soften their stances. Burnley in particular, now we are without both Gudders and Brady. I think Quaison could be our main target this summer, especially if we get a large chunk of dosh from an outgoing sale.

Around the £35 million mark the club would have settled unless the mark means an extra £5 mill with him being 27 with 2 years left hence the hammers valuation, whether the article can be believed is another question.

Have you seen sky reported this morning that Palace had made a formal offer for Brewster, since which the Palace chairman has asked them to take it down saying they haven't made a formal or informal offer!
More chairman should do the same as all this false reporting just winds fans up when things don't happen.

That article doesn't suggest the deal is off. Be interesting if the Stephens deal goes through that it could strengthen our focus on Quiason. It would pretty much solve all our outfield issues barring a back up Centre half.

I would expect Fulham to throw more money at him. They don't appear to value money that much.

I think Sheffield United want him & another club, it’s come from LFC or his agent it’s all engineered to get the market moving & generate auction style offers, I agree when it’s BS more chairman should quash the rumours or in this particular case a downright lie.

I guess sitting on the bench here for a few months would be better than not even getting on the bench at Brighton.... don't see him taking over for Brownhill or Westwood and would only provide some cover until Cork comes back. Halfway decent signing if true.

I guess it'll be a midfield of: Brownhill Stephens Westwood McNeil
until Cork/JBG returns.

Can only hope we're interested in another winger/right sided player as Brownhill isn't that.

In the prem he's got 1 goal and just 5 assists in 99 games, plus he can't get in the Brighton team anymore.....I can hear the barrel being scrapped from here.

Leeds have asked ManU to inform them if James becomes available.
Yorkshire lad, Hull born, it might sway him that way.

I know a number of people are asking for a new RB, and to a degree I fell in that camp. Having seen Bardsley play last night in extremely difficult circumstances I think he will take some budging. For me he emerged as a leader on the pitch, and rose to the occasion

He is a sitting defensive cm player. His job is to protect the defence and move the ball on from deep. That's how we play. Would have preferred someone younger, but atm we can't afford it.
If he is the first of a minimum of 3 coming in it's a decent start.

Disappointing that 14 million quid is out of our league for a player who looks like he could improve the first team. Of course there's no indication that he wanted to come to Burnley.
It really does make you think why do we bother ? why put in all the hard yards doing background checks ect, find out if the player wants to come, and then go in with a stupid low ball offer when he has a reasonable release clause.

I also take it from that post that you don't know what kind of player Stephens is.

Surprised to read that Chambers of Arsenal is only 25 and West Ham going for him at circa £14m. Surprisingly Chambers was on loan at Fulham, so you would have thought they now wanted him on a permanent but they seem to prefer Dawson

He was very close to joining them for £7m one window - was at the ground, medical completed before Swansea pulled the plug. Joined United the following summer. Suspect he’d feel he owed them if he’s leaving United.
Probably a good move for either party if they get Sancho.

Clyne would have been a good option as a free agent albeit with fitness issues, believe he's back at palace if that turns out to be a good move some clubs might regret not looking & offering him the chance.

If Leicester are still interested give them a final offer
£35m + Choudhury and Albrighton on season loans with no fees or wages to be paid by us
See Mr Garlick, you could just pay me minimum wage to do the job of Dianna

Just training with them at present I believe.
Yes true subject to earning a deal dependant on overcoming the fitness issues, prior to the injury was a decent RB.

You mean in general or Sky in particular? They just seem to whore themselves out imo. I don't know if you were thinking down the same lines.
Generally - I remember a poster on the message board getting in trouble with the FA on one occasion - the Lancashire Telegraph picked up on the story and quoted me on it even though I'd never commented. You just can't do anything about it.

The trials and tribulations of being a moderator. I feel your pain. I moderated a 'Worldwide English' group years ago and it was a pain in the backside.

I have to say it's a bit sad if we're picking up Brighton's chuck-outs.
A couple of seasons back it wouldn't have happened.
i've always thought we are much better than them. But they have money!
