BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER/AUTUMN 2020 (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Problem is, loan signing cost as much as permanent signings these days.
Your looking at paying full wages (and most PL players are on at least 40k a week) plus loan fees. Most clubs looks for at least £2/3 million in a loan fee. I know Fulham have spent over £5/6 million just to loan a couple.
I can't see our board be willing to folk out £2 million on top of a players wages just to loan them. They don't even like parting with money for a permanent signing half of the time.

Loaning out should be re-named "hiring out"...more honest

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Apparently the new trick is selling with a buy back clause.
Club a sells to club B for say £10m with a £10m buy back. Player has a belting season at club B, so club A buys him back and immediately sells him to C for £20m.
All done to circumnavigate the new rules to stop clubs loaning (read farming) young talent for profit.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Surviving and playing in the PL brings its reward but there are costs to being there because thats where the market and business is at. So we need to accept that good loans will involve a fee. We did it ourselves with Gibson.
When people bleat about being prudent its like reserving a table at one of London's top restaurants, then you scroll down the menu expecting to find a starter under £4.99 and and a main course under a tenner (including the side dishes). We cannot have it both ways
We don't need to spend a fortune at getting good players but you need to be smart at scouting and recruiting-more so than the strong PL clubs. We have proved it in the past-Ward,Arfield, Heaton, Pope, Pieters, Westwood, Tarks, Keane, Barton, Gray, Brownhill.I could go on with numerous names
The one thing I am absolutely certain of is that our ability to recruit has gone backwards big style, and this after 5 years in the PL

Is that a laugh at the valuation, the player suggested, that we’d spend £25 million, or a laughing smiley for each?

£600,000 for Gayle in a team that has no defence and without a credible midfield
A massive waste of money.

I’d risk him on a loan with a view to purchase - if the price wasn’t ridiculous.

Anywhere on the left isn’t he?
Unfortunately that’s our stronger side and certainly won’t see us chucking big money around for cover.
Then again, Sean is a fan of a left footer on the right...

Brownhill, replacement for Hart, some additions to the under 23’s - spring to mind.
I’m not privy to the objectives he is set so I’d be interested to know why people suggest he isn’t performing.

I think he is fulfilling his remit, bringing in young players for development.
My comment about what we can afford alludes to the fact that, if we are to improve on 10th, we have little hope of matching transfer and wage demands offered by clubs above us.

I think it's time that Rigg released a dossier of all the players he has reccomended to Dyche since he has been here. It will be way over a thousand.

I wouldn’t even hazard a guess, I don’t know exactly what his job entails nor does anyone else on here.
But I do know that if he’s identified way over a thousand players who are good enough and affordable enough to play for us then he must be terrible at his job.

If you're searching the thread for legit news it's rather pointless anyway. If, or when something happens a million people will make a new thread anyway.
Personally I enjoy the speculation and opinions.

Well that’s an insightful reply and encourages healthy debate about potential transfer targets
Rather than a daft post about a role that neither of us have the experience for, how about putting forward your reasons for not agreeing (which I’m more than happy to debate).

We are not after the very top players. As I keep saying its about being SMART, like we were with Ings, Mee,Tripps, Heaton,Joey, Vokes, Austin. None of these cost us more than £1m and fitted into our salary range.I could give you 15 names of real discoveries found by us.The window has been open 7 weeks and we are told we are not even close.Add to this out total inability to work the loan market and we really are a sad club in this area of the businessboatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 6:32 pmIt's not our ability to recruit, it's our inability to pay what top players demand.

By no means to I think we're doing well in terms of recruitment but saying we should be making sub-£1m transfers with relatively modest wages as we did with Ings, Trippier, Mee etc. is disingenuous.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 8:20 amWe are not after the very top players. As I keep saying its about being SMART, like we were with Ings, Mee,Tripps, Heaton,Joey, Vokes, Austin. We were in the Championship then (ie. that was those players' level when we signed them), we didn't have much money and teams we were buying from knew it and the transfer market was a very different playing field back then.
There may be players of their ilk available but they'd cost more now, they'd want bigger wages and most importantly they wouldn't be good enough to play regularly for us and thus wouldn't improve our first XI or get enough playing time to develop into the players they could become.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
There are Championship clubs desperate for money that we could easily get bargains from.
Preston for example have Daniel Johnson, Ben Pearson, Alan Browne and Ben Davies all out of contract at the end of next season and all refusing to sign new contracts. Preston are struggling financially as it is and will (without saying it publically) be absolutely desperate for a club to take these players in this window - they can not afford for them to walk for free, which they will be doing.
Do I think they’re better than what we have? No, I don’t, but like Brownhill, I think they’d prove valuable squad padding with the potential to break into the team. Davies, Browne and Pearson are still young enough to improve and grow in value.
Just an example of the sort of opportunities out there and available to us, well within our budget. To sign nobody because the ones we really wanted we couldn’t afford would be negligent, we need SOME depth. I think when we get to deadline day, if nothing has changed we’ll switch tact and snap up a few players of the likes I’ve listed above. Preston would have wanted £8-10m for some of these a year ago, they’ll be lucky to get £4-5m on deadline day.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I am not advocating spending sub £1m pounds-I know the market has changed, but wanted to demonstrate we had a flair at recruiting, which is non existent now.We have just seen Duffy go to Celtic for a £2m loan fee. I doubt whether Celtic's wages are higher than us.The loan fee for Gibson would have off set this. I know who I would rather have.Mattster wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 8:55 amBy no means to I think we're doing well in terms of recruitment but saying we should be making sub-£1m transfers with relatively modest wages as we did with Ings, Trippier, Mee etc. is disingenuous.

If on the eve of the window closing, and we still have no replacement CH, and maybe no Tarks by then, and we were offered Duffy on loan, the majority would take him. John Swift has been mentioned above-another good example. Connor Gallagher has been available on loan-looks like he is heading to WBA . I doubt Swansea paid him a huge wage. These low cost, maybe free players are out there, not necessarily wanting a high wage.John Lundstram for example is refusing to sign a contract and on a low wage. If I read today we had signed him at 26, I would be over the moon.
After Dyche's comments yesterday calling our recruitment policy "LAST MNUTE.COM" I do despair and can see us signing absolutely no one.If we lose v Leicester I will guarantee Dyche post match interview will be interesting re recruitment

I'd rather try to sign a long term CB option than waste £2m + wages on a 3rd choice CB for a season in the form of Duffy. And that's even if he'd have chosen us over Celtic given his clealry expressed desire to play for the club he's been a fan of since he was a kid.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 9:25 amI am not advocating spending sub £1m pounds-I know the market has changed, but wanted to demonstrate we had a flair at recruiting, which is non existent now.We have just seen Duffy go to Celtic for a £2m loan fee. Reading's owners are cash rich, they just have FFP concerns so they may have to sell but they'll drag it to the end of the window whilst trying to shift less important players. Either way both Villa and Sheffield Utd sniffing around means the price will go higher and higher.
The Preston lads I can see (not Johnson though, he's decent at Championship level but isn't going to cut it any higher, he's pretty much at his peak age too) but there's no way any Championship clubs like these sell on the cheap now when they can get games out of them until mid-October and hope to get a bidding war going - unless you go big at this stage (Watkins, for example) they're under no pressure.

Many thanks-I actually feel Nixon is more reliable than other current sources.Be pleased with these two, particularly if JT stays. Dawson can also play RB, which he has done for a variety of managers, and adds good aerial power at the back and set pieces

Agreed and has often not played every week, so presumably won't do a Gibson if not a regular. He is a massive threat at corners.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 10:09 amMany thanks-I actually feel Nixon is more reliable than other current sources.Be pleased with these two, particularly if JT stays.
