What if lolley, romero and davies are being tracked, and offers have been made medicals on thursday and friday.
Would that satisfy?
Would there be humble pie eaten?

In 8 months time the picture should be much clearer.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 8:22 pmAnd how do we afford someone good enough to replace Tarks in 8 months time.
What’s wrong with seeing if Dunne will be good enough, for example.
If, indeed we do go down, (which i think a blind man can see is likely) we should be in a position to bounce back.
By then, maybe, some of our academy players will be ready for first team football.
We will still have Gawthorpe etc & we won't be crippled with debt....as many will be, think Bolton.
Give your head a wobble and calm down.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER/AUTUMN 2020 (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Late bid for Henri Lansbury ?
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER/AUTUMN 2020 (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Hart Out GK Replaced Norris
Gibson out CB not replaced
Hendrick out MF replaced Stephens
Lennon out Wide replaced Brownhill (he was a bonus last Jan)
So the shortage is one centreback who is unlikely to feature, when Mee returns.
Long is ok but not top quality/suspect...Dunne not yet up to it. Thomas unknown but not ready.
Wanted 1 quality CB willing to play very occasionally, unless injury or transfer happens.
Any takers? No? OK.
The difficulty we have in attracting players is the fact that you are out until in the team. No squad use at centre back or keeper.
The strength is that we have a regular choice 11 with some options in midfield and attack.
Injuries have been a problem.

Are we saying we could not raise £5m or so money to secure this guy, who probably wont start that often for WHU .He could immediately step in for Ben, cover for Tarks, and if both those play would inevitably he could play RB. That gives us a fairly formiddable defenceReecey1987 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 8:52 pmWest Ham could conclude the signing of Craig Dawson tonight.

RB is an issue, although not urgent.
CB is urgent, even when Mee is back how likely are we to go another season without any injury to those two?
Stephens is a downgrade on Hendrick.
The only decent one was Hart out and Norris in......

Baffles me that the club don’t tweet that they are standing down too, yet tell local journalists to have an early night
Do they do it on purpose to keep hopes up or is it a pre-planned excuse that they tried their best right up to the deadline?

Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool and the likes must have players they want to get minutes under their belt or work experience?!!
I’d take another Nathaniel Chalobah, Georges-Kévin Nkoudou or even a Jon Flanagan (!!) - at least it’s cover.

All of the tweets are met with abuse at the minute anyway! I’d rather see a thread full of angry clarets on a stand down tweet rather than the one for the signing of the U23 lad

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER/AUTUMN 2020 (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
We have £40million in cash according to figures posted on here. Once it's spent it's spent, no getting it back next season.
So what would that buy us, two decent champ players in fees (plus a bigger wage bill), all in a season where revenue will plummet and maybe have knock on effects into the next.
I think the decision has been made the risk of relegation by not strengthening is preferable to putting the long term future of the club at risk by spending what little we have and still potentially falling off the cliff edge with a wage bill approaching £90million, no cash reserves and unpredictable future revenue.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER/AUTUMN 2020 (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
We’re now probably 3 bad tackles away from relegation.
More important is the effect on the squad, there’s little here to convince a group about a clear vision of progress in the Premier League. Probably Dyche’s biggest challenge.
On a positive note, at least we’ll have no problems with squad rotation

"I'd take another Nathaniel Chalobah"
Really??
When he was at Burnley on loan he played just 66 minutes (45 minutes in one match) before his loan was terminated and returned to Chelsea with SD commenting that the player was "not yet up to the rigours of PL football".
Chalobah really developed as a player in the second half of that season at Reading on loan under the tutelage of Steve Clarke.

No, I’m suggesting that with a threadbare squad, without major signing made with 15 mins left of the window remaining now... I’d take fringe players from other top 6 Premier League teams.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 10:31 pm"I'd take another Nathaniel Chalobah"

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER/AUTUMN 2020 (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
What's the melt-down in aid of? My understanding is that we still have another week or two to sign players from other than the EPL? That should be good for another 20-30 pages, particularly now that the Dyche out!/Board out!/Sign everybody! brigade seem to have resurfaced and even if we don't, far from being the end of the world, I suspect that it might be for the best.
It might not look that way right now, it may look even less so come the end of this season, but at the beginning of the 2021/22 season (whichever division we're playing in) when we're there for the kick-off and not one of the dozens of clubs who've ceased trading over the summer, it'll look a very smart move.
Football Clubs are 'businesses' in the leisure/entertainment industry, just the same as cinemas/theatres/pubs/restaurants; this year is not first and foremost about making the top-6/8/10, or even in the worst case, avoiding relegation, it's about managing to continue trading and still being around next year and to my mind, reducing/minimising costs to stay within or close to our likely income is for BFC, the best way to achieve that. Lots of our competitors are still throwing money around, but they're already so deep in a financial hole of debt and contracted player salaries that relegation will bankrupt them anyway, so like a losing gambler, they're simply chasing their losses - they've no more to lose, only their creditors have - and if they do lose their EPL place, there's every likelihood that they'll spiral on down as so many have before them. We fortunately still have a choice and if the Directors can keep the club debt-free, or close to it, whilst SD and the players work equally hard to stay in the EPL we will do it but should we fail, then there's a high probability that we can halt the decline at the Championship and re-group from there.

No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. It might be the case that Garlick has upped Dyche’s bonus for staying in the league based on what we have saved in wages of the players he has off loaded. He might have said to Dyche I will take the flak, you can have a moan in public then if we go down you won’t be tainted.

We will only spend it all in the Championship as we have before, just moving it down the road

1) cash in the bank does not equate to profit - it’s just a point in time balance sheet asset. You could have £40m in cash and still go into liquidation.CombatClaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 10:17 pmWe have £40million in cash according to figures posted on here.
2) The £40m reported number was from our accounts 16 months ago - a few things have happened since that might have reduced that significantly !!
I think your last paragraph sums up Garlick’s current strategy - overlaid with other complexities such as the potential takeover and his view on what the next couple of years is going to bring in terms of the next TV deal, impact of COVID etc

Yes but only on loan for the season with an option to offload in January if he gets in a nightclub brawl.
