If that’s the financial market we’re now in, then so be it. I’d rather have Stephens than nothing to swell the ranks there. He’d do a job for a season or two but wouldn’t get the pulses racing.

Stephens would be a great signing for us, superb fit. Hopefully we can sort it as they’ll be plenty of clubs after him in the summer. If we can also add Dawson it would have been a fantastic window. Bags of experience. #Getitdone.

Give it up spijed, you’re a broken record!
Yes Bardsley and Pieters are both okay (no better than okay) but if every signing is like that, we’ll go backwards. Surely even you can see that?

can't believe people are "getting excited" about signing a 30 year old defender who has turned us down in the past ????
Looks like we have no pride as well as no recruitment team that can do their job !!!!!!!

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Absolutely, 28 starts with 13 shots , 2 of those on target and 1 assist in those 28 games.
32 at the end of the season.
Get him in!
Finally Mr Riggs role bearing fruit.

If you mean Dawson, I don’t think we ever actually had a bid accepted the multiple times we tried to buy him, or I’m pretty sure he’d have come.kenyon6923 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 12:57 pmcan't believe people are "getting excited" about signing a 30 year old defender who has turned us down in the past ????

He would be a fantastic signing too, in my opinion. I’d rather a 30 year old who we can rely on immediately than an expensive 23 year old who might take 12-18 months before Dyche trusts him to start games. Dawson would push Mee, Tarky, Bardsley and Lowton in both the CB and RB areas.

Course Rigg can do his job. We wouldn’t have got Pieters without his contacts. If he can get Stephens and Dawson in then the lad deserves a pay rise.kenyon6923 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 12:57 pmcan't believe people are "getting excited" about signing a 30 year old defender who has turned us down in the past ????

About 5 seasons ago, he watched our Friendly v Preston from the stands, but maybe he was just doing some scouting...jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:01 pmIf you mean Dawson, I don’t think we ever actually had a bid accepted the multiple times we tried to buy him, or I’m pretty sure he’d have come.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If we got Dawson and Stephens and then also managed to get a couple of players in their early 20s too (possibly that O'Brien at Huddersfield and then obviously a winger too) I would think the window will have been a relative success (assuming we keep all of our players too).
Dawson and Stephens are solid types and FIT so would add decent quality and numbers to the matchday squad.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
John percy has tweeted that forest have opened talks with aberdeen for Scott mckenna . It looks to me like if there after him then one of there cb could well be on the move
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I'd rather we went for Mckenna than Worrall
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Me too, 23 plenty of experience and a left sided CB , so gives us some balance, and IF Mee is injured could be moulded to long term replacement, and if not quite up to being a premier league regular then perfect cover.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Stephens, Dawson and then one of Eliasson or Bright Osayi-Samuel would be an okay window.
But ridiculous that we couldn't get at least one of them over the line before now.
I'd suggest we need Dawson even if Tarkowski stays, what the hell are we going to do if West Ham break and offer the 50m.

No Stephens in Brighton's 18 today.....
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
There has to be some thought to future windows. We are kicking the can down the road and effectively creating a bigger problem for windows to come.

Well, we're not going to sign players who are in favour at Premier League clubs so probably best that fans understand and accept that.claretandy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:30 pmHe isn't good enough for their 18, that's the difference.

Sign of the club moving forwards, it used to be championship side Stoke who we raided for their 30+ stars

Whilst it’s not an exciting link every time I saw Brighton last season he looked their best centre mid, very much a Dyche type of player.

Recruitment team must be working 24/7 , coming up with Stephens and Dawson must have taken it’s toll ,they’ll need a holiday after the window slams shut

Cork wasn't a cast off, he was starting for Swansea, Westy was 26, and looking for a fresh start.
Wasn't it 5 years ago that we were in for Stephans?

Even if we were to sign Dawson and Stephens they aren’t exactly exciting signings. Make do type players at best. Better than nothing but again wrong age and cloggers.

I agree, be reasonable cover but hardly worth getting excited about.
I don’t know why we aren’t going after younger players with potential, Fearguson at Aberdeen type players who would cost a couple of million at the most.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Cork wasn't starting at all. The only reason we signed him is because Swansea had signed someone to replace him and he became available because he wasn't first choice. He was a 'cast-off'. Like Westwood....claretandy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 5:11 pmCork wasn't a cast off, he was starting for Swansea, Westy was 26, and looking for a fresh start.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I doubt we'll get even the likes of Dawson and Stephens, to be honest. Their clubs are too difficult to deal with, the numbers were too high, they are already high earners, we're not market leaders, we don't break the bank, we don't bet the ranch, we won't put the club's future at risk, why would they want to live in Burnley? etc.
I just feel that the noises coming out of the club are all negative and I find it hard to imagine something giving in the next 1 and a half weeks, or however long we have left to do a bit of business.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
In 2014 we were linked with Troy Deene and Craig Dawson who most felt would be superb additions, likewise in 2016 with Dale Stephens. All a little bit older of course but still good enough for us.Resale value aside have we progressed so much this board no longer deems them exciting or is it because we are now so familiar with their names?Whatever progression we have made and there is of course plenty, we are still a small club battling the odds in the Premier League.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Surely everyone knows by now that most transfer buisness, especially at Burnley, is done in the last few days. And it's obvious why. Everybody is hoping for the best possible deal for their particular circumstances. That's clubs, managers and particularly players, who with the complication of their agents fees make it all very difficult.
When the first domino falls and 'A' goes to 'B', then 'C' will make his move forcing 'D' to do the same. Then the avalance begins. That's why we have all the stories of players being spotted at airports and reporters stood outside grounds for the last 48 hours of every window.
Still over two weeks to go. It's no one's fault but the football authorities that we have the stupid situation of the summer transfer window finishing AFTER the league starts. At least Burnley and Villa will have played one less game this time.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
How do you know they have potential have you seen them?
Ok younger players with potential for the first team.
We can afford them. We just refuse to because we are ran like a corner shop. We are one of the richest clubs in world football and struggling to field a team at the start of the season because we flatly refuse to spend money.
