Notts Forrest ...

Post by HollandsPies » Wed Jul 22, 2020 10:27 pm

I am soooo looking forward to work tomorrow.
Proper c'ocked it up tonight they did. I'm not sure how to present my self tomorrow:
1 - laughing and rubbing their noses in it - blatant.
2- presenting faux sympathy, yet laughing inside

Hmm.

They won the European Cup twice, don't you know.

The problem with option 2 is it takes a really good actor to pull it off with any sincerity, I don't think my poker face was good enough after Leeds blew the play-off semi final last season.

Don't have a problem with Forest but that was an epic cock-up. That said, their form going into the play-offs surely wouldn't have led to promotion anyway.

Walk into work and just say, "What's the date for the playoffs?"

I've found in the past that saying absolutely nothing hurts them most of all.

Yes, Bodge. I'm absolutely delighted. Bet Rowls will be along soon. You need to live down here to appreciate their arrogance and delusions of grandeur. Hope all is safe and well your end btw.

Agree with Riley here. They're nowhere near good enough this time round - they play far too deep lol.
Actually, forrest fans aren't to keen on their style of play.

Joke of a club, another one with the entitlement culture, who think they belong in the PL, how they managed to blow that though baffles me.

A good friend is a Forest fan, I haven't talked to him today, but I bet he's not best pleased :o He's Welsh by birth so maybe Swansea and Cardiff making the playoffs may ease the pain a little.

My favourite way of approaching such a situation is to pretend I haven’t heard the results (not really that interested in lower league football). Make no mention for half an hour or so then suddenly say ‘oh, how did Forest get on last night?’

Oh what larks we shall have with this!

Only just found out the scores because I was out playing football but this is just bed-wettingly funny.

I'm almost paralyzed by the options as to how to rub this in their noses.

Think I'll play it cool and after my most sincerest condolences to them and console them with how it's actually all just rotten luck.

They haven't given me this much joy since they spaffed away a two goal lead at home to Yeovil in the second leg of their 3rd Division play off final.

Just been on the Forrest forum.

They had a poll asking if their fans thought they'd win the play offs!!!!! Ahahahahahahahahahaha

And 36.84% thought they'd win it! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Sadly the poll is now closed, so to speak.

Worrall is supposed to be a decent CB, and we were once linked with him? Could be a decent back up, and seems to fit the fairly narrow bill?

But Forest were not in the play offs against Yeovil were they? Don't think Forest have been in
the 3rd tier since the 50's.

All good for our Forrest-dislikers, though personally I'd have preferred this to happen to a certain other club a little nearer to home... ;)

But there's always next season, I suppose... :D

Has there ever been such a three pint and six goal turnaround between two clubs vying for promotion or play off slot, with the home team losing out to the team playing away?

Not quite the same, but I remember PNE sneaked into the playoffs in 2008/9 ahead of Cardiff on goals scored (they had same points and same GD but PNE had scored one goal more). They had beaten Cardiff 6-0 a couple of games before the end of the season which really swung things.

I remember coming back on the train from Southampton, where we got a 2-2 draw courtesy of Jay missing a sitter late on, and hearing that a certain Mr Wallace had scored a late free kick for PNE. which meant that our qualification for the play offs rested on the last game.

The Notts Forrest players looked like they'd had more like six pints each last night than three.

Brings up bad memories of 2002 when we lost out to Norwich by a solitary goal, but at least we didn't capitulate as Forest did last night, and they've been poor for some weeks now, 2 points from their last 15 available. But this sums up the Championship this year, West Brom haven't won in 4 games, yet they clung onto 2nd due to Brentford losing their last 2, and Fulham lacking the consistency to challenge.

I would argue that we spent the second half of the season in one long capitulation.
