Trial by social media.

The assumption that if you're the one filming on your mobile phone you're automatically a good person and definitely the one in the right in any kind of scenario.

The use of the word 'so' at the beginning of a sentence (particularly in answer to a question)

The price of a Twix at Turf Moor

People complaining about getting abuse on twitter & Facebook & acting as if there are completely powerless to do anything about it when the simple solution is staring at them in the face.

Plenty of stuff to agree with here but this is the worst one. I've seen someone on Facebook mid song at a gig before. Live your life, when are you gonna watch that video back you gimp!!

Even worse, people who do that at fireworks displays.

Pretty much anything that is imported from the USA, many of which are listed above.
Leeds being in the Premier league
Womens boxing. Although to be fair, I've nothing against women boxing, it's just that it means there is more boxing and it was bad enough when just men did it talking crap all the time on sky sports.
Oh, and on that note, sky sports having basketball and us soccer and flogging them to death like they previously did with cycling.
The existence of bt sport
Irregular pricing of rail tickets. I used to like travelling by train and now it just feels like I'm being ripped off.
Celebrity culture questions appearing on quiz shows as if I give a ****.
Cars not having spare wheels.

Weather presenters!

At the end of the News, we have to endure the grinning weather presenter who smugly tells you it’s been doing all day and eventually what it might do the next. I’m ok with that but when they finally finish, up pops a second weather person to tell you the same thing.

People who are just offended by absolutely everything. Twitter users are notorious for this.

People who just don't understand, or worse, don't care about their privacy. This includes uploading photos of their young children on Facebook -- let the kid decide for themselves when they're older whether they want to be plastered all over the internet. That should be their choice, not yours. Oh, and people who welcome Amazon Alexa devices etc into their home. I don't think I need to even elaborate on this one. There's info everywhere online.

Not sure if it's a modern day thing but something that I've seen more and more in recent years...these extendible dog leads. Why the **** do you need to cordon off the whole bloody street walking your dog? (Hint -- if the dog is a mile in front of you, it's walking you).

The young lad off the news Owain Wyn Evans is painful. Seems to everywhere and he's condescending and irritating.

Divisive society. Whether left, right or inbetween, far too many just wanting to be correct and thinking they are always correct.

Selfish people, in any form.

It shouldn't surprise me, I suppose, that "woke" (meaning "opposed to social injustice, especially racism") is used as a term of insult by racists.
The reputation of the town of Burnley - and the detrimental impact it has on our club - could be greatly improved when a few more people are awoken to these issues.

You should read the whistleblower Edward Snowden's book, I didn't know too much about him but decided to after watching him on the Joe Rogan podcast. According to him, privacy in the traditional sense is almost a thing of the past due to advances in technology. Our devices and the platforms we use on the internet leave an almost permanent record of where we've been and what we've been doing, e.g your phone is constantly pinging signals to nearby phone towers which reveal your location etc. It's pretty much unavoidable though unless you want to completely isolate yourself from modern society, I mean what's the point using a niche private/anonymous messaging app when all your mates are on WhatsApp.

Like a few others the Americanisation of society, people who use the word guys in particular.

Toadies using corporate buzzwords to attempt to get up the greasy pole, embarrassing.

Not being able to speak to anybody on the phone when attempting to buy or change a service in life.

Americanisms 🤔🤔🤔 you mean like Buzzword 😉

Origin. The origin of buzzwords can be seen in Hallgren & Weiss (1946) as coming from business students studying at Harvard University as a way to help them gain better results from their studies. Such language terms were collated and then became what is known today as "buzzwords".

Some serious irritants nominated already on this thread. Two linguistic trends make me grind my teeth to dust :-
1 “Would of” and “Could of” instead of “would/could HAVE”
2. “ Can I get a coffee ?” Err , no because it’s round this side of the counter but you could HAVE one if I make it for you.
What do people have against the word “have” nowadays ?

It was a question with answers that will be personal to everyone. And for the record, your assumption is wrong. It's people branding other people racists at every opportunity that's part of the problem, but that's for another thread.

Funny you say this. I was up Leith Hill a few weeks back, and there was a good 15-20 middle aged women congregated at the top. All chinwagging for 45 minutes, with little intent to do any actual mountain biking.

Being in Surrey, every single one of them had a Scott/Cannondale/Trek full suspension mountain bike at £2000/£3000 a pop. Good luck to them, but it did make me chuckle.

Simple explanation....

When I was very young my mam used to tell me there were two kinds of people in this world.
The haves' and the haves' not.

Why are some things Amazing to some people. It can be so small and insignificant but they tell you its AMAZING.
Or even worse..."Awesome". I mean "Awesome" is OK if describing witnessing a major tornado or seeing a gigantic whale breaching the surface of the ocean but definitely not for confirming the time of an appointment or choosing to have chips with a burger.
