The old firm allow their supporters to buy shirts without sponsors on them.

I feel like it’s about time other clubs started following suit too.

I’d be willing to pay a bit more for a shirt with no sponsor’s logo.

Having watched the video a few times I have convinced myself I like it. It’s not as bad as I feared from the leaked images, anyway.

Kids like it so there’s two sold!

Away kit usually comes out a few weeks after, so end of August I assume?

Personally I’m fine with the kit. I’ve not got too worked up that it has taken a while to come out and I’m not even that bothered that it was leaked.

Got a bit wound up though with the clubs PR/ communications person (and granted it’s his personal twitter account) who constantly demonstrates his political views. I am sure that 90% of his followers are Burnley fans and he uses his position in the club to share his political stance on a daily basis.

The recent exam results debacle he describes as a shambles, the same day that a sticker book shares our new strip with us.

How much extra. Let’s say we sell 20,000 at £80.

Which we wouldn’t.

That’s still nowhere near what we get in sponsorship money.

I hope that the powers that be finally have the courage to ban the on shirt betting companies. They are already planning to ban live in game adverts from said companies. I don’t want to start a big debate about gambling but for me it’s obvious that the only people who win are the bookmakers.

There was something recently about a ban coming in from 2023

Is that shockingly stunning or stunningly shocking. Either way I'm not a fan, those sleeves are more a nod to the handball rule than the old kit.

Think I'm gonna try it on an old shirt. If it works I might get the new one and remove the sponsor. Will post the results if/when I get round to it.

Sorry that I used the same word, how about homage or recall or a throwback - happy to use those in future

In my opinion, if the blue band around the collar was thicker, the material was different and it was a plain design without the badge or logos - then, to me - that's a replica. Toffs make replicas, they take like-for-like design and reproduce it.

Also, the Ribero shirts from 1992 in the club shop - the claret colour looks off to me, and the material feels cheaper and Endsleigh logo is printed into the shirt rather than applied - there are a few differences, but its a replica - it's almost a direct copy. Its a 'Zombie' - that's a recreation of product where the original is no-longer manufactured, sometimes using the same original branding - you tend to see this with retro games consoles and the like and electrical goods - like Polaroid cameras

A nod, as the club use, is when you borrow elements and inspiration of an old design and implement it to into something new. I believe this is the case.

Tony, give me your opinion, look at the images below - I'm just interested

A) "Nod'
B) Replica
C) None of the above
image.jpg367F60A400000578-0-image-m-38_1469182445475.jpg
I agree with that. 2009s effort was crap. It looked totally wrong. I understand the same material couldn’t be used as the original for the players, but modern football shirt materials with that design just didn’t look right. Then there’s the actual design of it. The fit of a shirt plays a part in the design, you can’t just transfer things over.

I don’t see why we need to have this nod to past shirts. Nike are designing some fantastic looking kits at the minute with a modern retro vide.

I'm not a gambler so it doesn't affect me personally but I've met people in the last year or so for whom football ambling has had a devastating effect. I met a couple who had to deal with their son taking his own life because of it. It made me sit up and notice just how much gambling there is around football, I had to put up with our group, on the concourse before the Peterborough cup tie, being pestered by a Ladbrokes employee wanting us to have a bet.

From next season in Spain, betting companies have been banned from advertising on shirts or any other aspects of a football club. Currently that directly affects eight La Liga clubs, not sure how many Premier League clubs will be hit if it was introduced in this country.

I've been to a couple of meetings of charity Gambling with Lives on behalf of Burnley FC Supporters Groups and met people who have been addicts, are related to addicts and have seen family members take their own lives because of gambling addictions.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against gambling, but I do think something has to be done about the amount of advertising that is ramming it down the throats of potentially vulnerable people.

Eight La Liga clubs and, based on the season just ended, ten Premier League clubs. Interestingly of those ten, each of the bottom five clubs were sponsored by gambling companies whilst none of the top five clubs were involved with a gambling organisation.

From a Burnley perspective of course we were sponsored by LoveBet (£7.5m) who replaced LaBa360 (£5m) from the previous season. Remarkably that £7.5m last season was £1.2m more than our total Matchday receipts for the year which goes a long way to understanding why our Club took the decision to allow such sponsorship. Shirt sponsorship now represents slightly under 50% of our total Commercial Income.

Its a decent design but once again the logo and the company it advertises spoils it. Why do we need a Far East betting syndicate as our sponsor? First it was Fun88 then Laba they were both unheard of, and now this lot. Please get rid of the clubs association with nondescript betting firms BFC Board. Surely as a top ten premier league football club we can get someone from the UK as a sponsor. Once again I won't be buying it.

Would a business from the UK pay us over £21m over three years.

Is there even a UK company or business that sponsor a Premier League team?

Like the shirt and style but not the advert and for that reason I wont buy one. I will buy a shirt or merchandise of equal value though as I did last season.

To all those upset about the wait for the new shirt I’d have waited for ever hoping not to see this hideous offering by Watford. The fella is their new manager, Ivic from Maccabi.

Definitely does look nicer on video. I also prefer the thin piping on the sides of the shorts as opposed to a wide stripe.

Socks!!! Should be hoops!!! And they should be hoops forever. It would create a recognisable identity in our strips no matter how the rest of the kit is changed. Say what you like about our near neighbours but their shirts give them immediate recognition and I reckon that we could create some of that by having socks that say "BURNLEY".

Why, Mike !?!?.......See my post above

Does anyone at the club Or the PL actually know Anything about these syndicates? What fit and proper tests do they have to pass if any? We’ve had a number of our own players addicted to gambling, yet the club Continues to happIly take the easy money and ignore the damage gambling does To peoples lives. Online gambling Which Lovebet promote makes it so easy To chuck money away Money that many people around this area can’t afford. The club and most of the League need to bin its association with faceless gambling companies and start promoting some home grown reputable businesses. Sorry but I love my club and would buy the merchandise, but I wont buy and walk around promoting a Chinese betting syndicate.

Having LOVEBET plastered over our shirt damages the reputation of the club. What value can you put on that?
Why lump ourselves in the group of 'scabby' clubs who take the gambling money and are automatically labelled with that identity?
We should be building on the proud history of our unique football club and promoting it to the world, but this is very difficult with a top like that.

The club's shirt should be something you can be proud of. At the moment it is just a betting billboard.

Most clubs are sponsored by betting companies so I doubt very much that our sponsor is damaging the reputation of the club in any way whatsoever.

I have no issue with betting company sponsorship being banned from football although for the vast majority it is a harmless bit of fun. I think the pop up adverts at half time encouraging punters to bet on the next scorer are far more harmful than a logo on a shirt.

There is also a lot of ‘faux outrage’ over shirt sponsorship in general, plenty of people wanting to buy the shirt and take the sponsor off. Well the sponsor makes the shirt in many ways, if you remove it you may as well buy a cheap plain claret and blue t shirt. Or buy bfccrazy’s effort which amusingly enough promotes alcohol, which I expect ruins a lot more lives than gambling.

It's supposed to go on sale at 9am this morning, but you can already go head and purchase it now.

I was hoping to get it using my teamcard points which I opted to take instead of a refund, but appears you can't spend them online.

Good to see no price increase. We must be the cheapest in the league looking at some of the prices of new shirts that have recently been released.

I was just going to mention alcohol. I know that’s not on the shirt and betting companies are, but we don’t HAVE to bet just like we don’t have to drink.
What do we do to protect alcoholics, not watch any tv programmes that have alcohol in them? Ban the entire whisky industry because mike Baldwin had a double in the Stewards return....
Vegans banning tv entirely because they had chicken on the latest episode of “Friday night dinner”?

Ok, so I take it to the extreme, but we have to be realistic. Not having lovebet on our shirt won’t stop people gambling, and those with a problem won’t have that problem increased due to it being on our shirt.

I think we just have to be careful about what we are looking to ban and the reasons behind it. Seems to me that any minority, no matter how small will get its way if it complains long enough...

Would a business from the UK pay us over £21m over three years.

Is there even a UK company or business that sponsor a Premier League team?
Yes we are looking at getting oddies on the front. They will supply us a couple of pies and twixes.

Anyone heard anything about away / 3rd kit release dates? Only 4 weeks to start of season so imagine it’ll have to be soon?

How much extra. Let’s say we sell 20,000 at £80.

Which we wouldn’t.

That’s still nowhere near what we get in sponsorship money.
The sponsors don't care that much about being on the shirts that are sold to fans though. The reach of those, particularly to their target audience, is pretty limited compared to the TV audience.

We could probably get away with selling the XXXXL version of children's strips like West Ham and others do.

To all those upset about the wait for the new shirt I’d have waited for ever hoping not to see this hideous offering by Watford. The fella is their new manager, Ivic from Maccabi.

It must be Watfords punishment for relegation.
