Assuming he goes, I would think that Long would replace Tarks and we'd be after a back-up centre half, as well as a replacement for Lennon.
Which would work.

In the Championship.

I don't think he's that fussed about going to West ham, I have a suspicion that Leicester will come in soon once they know the required fee and that will be that. For me -(my opinion) he either stays here or goes to Leicester.

I think Dyche would likely go for an older highly experienced type for Tarks initial replacement . I hope he stays but the 30m plus add ons and no doubt big salary jump will likely push this one over the line .

Using WHU to generate interest so that the actual fee we want is dangled leaving Leicester to decide if they want to pay it or not - I suspect that there's many a subplot to all this

There will be sub plots, but we can do ourselves a massive favour by signing Gibson's replacement now. It's not the time to **** about like we do.This is deadly serious.

We don’t **** about when it comes to replacing key players. We’ll make dodgy signings as back up but not replacements. We’ve been in this position lots of times under Dyche (Think Shackell, Ings, Keane, Austin, Trippier), we’ve then go on to be more successful.

Let's hope the whole thing is a sub plot, designed to distract people from our search for a Wing Back or Winger. Maybe Tarks is part of the plot and doesn't really want to go anywhere? Wheels within wheels, within wheels. No doubt that by 5th October it will all have been revealed.

Leicester are only in the Europa but are likely to hang around the top 8 for years - so i can see why Tarky would want to go there, with Evans ageing. That match at the Turf with the penalty miss a few years ago has really turned Leicester into a top club - they would never have won the league had they lost that.

West Ham - cannot see any reason at all, apart from money, but he has plenty of that anyway.

Tarka The Offer! £33 Million Seals Deal
Submitted by nevillenixon on Thu, 10/09/2020 - 13:20

West Ham United's pursuit of James Tarkowski is going the way of many 'big ticket' deals as both parties jockey for position with offer and counter offer, and now it appears a compromise might be reached on the selling club's asking price. Mindful that Tarkowski's £50 Million release clause will not be met by ANY club, Burnley have opted for the best they can get in the current Covid-19 affected market, with prices up to 40% down compared to last year

West Ham's initial bid of £23 Million was knocked back instantly, but there was enough 'meat on the table' for Burnley to 'request' further dialogue, at this point the situation became more complex because Leicester City, flush with cash from player sales, made enquiries regarding the midfielders availability. Sean Dyche did what all good managers would do by insisting the player is a key part of his set up and that any representations would have to factor in the player's importance to the club, this 'statement' of policy was obviously designed to bump the price up, and it has!

Hammers returned with a £27 Million bid which DID get considered by the Burnley board who ultimately have control of transfers, unfortunately Leicester City spoiled the party by matching the offer, this was not what David Moyes wanted. Entering in to a bidding war for a player is the last thing he wanted, bearing in mind the 'microscopic' transfer Kitty he has available to use.

The toing and froing between all parties has continued at a relentless pace, however the break through came when West Ham's next offer proved too rich for Leicester, an offer of £30 Million was enough to 'bounce' the opposition but still not enough to convince Dyche to part with one of his most valuable assets, the Burnley board think otherwise and have made it known that they are prepared to do business.

As with all deals of this nature, the final fee including add ons and sell ons will probably get a 'UF' notice, the term undisclosed fee is commonly used in transfers because club's can legally manipulate how and when payments are made, it also ensures confidentiality and enables the buying and selling club to 'save face'.

£30 Million should have sealed the deal, but the request for a further 10% has rather complicated the issue, this hiking of the price is perfectly normal but will not help in the speedy expedition of the transfer, in other words it might drag on and on which actually will suit neither party in reality. Dyche will want to use the money from the sale to make player acquisitions as soon as poosible in order to integrate them in to his squad, and likewise David Moyes will want as much time as possible with his new player in order to integrate him in to the squad.

Further developments are all on hold waiting for the deal to either happen or not, if it does go through then you can bet your bottom dollar that Issa Diop will be on his way. Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the French centre back however a deal with Tottenham is highly unlikely due to the bad blood between both clubs. It is worth noting that West Ham spokespeople have been very careful with their terminology regarding players available for transfer, the "Grady Diangana was sold because we had so many other players available to cover that position" statement was clearly designed to pave the way for further outgoings, so by citing a surfeit of players in one position, a similar situation is likely to evolve as happened with Grady Diangana.

The club will be able to say " Issa Diop was superfluous to the squad, because we now have enough centre backs following the arrival of James Tarkowski", and if West Ham do end up paying the £33 Million Burnley are asking for it might not just be Issa Diop who will be the sacrificial lamb because there is still a massive need for at least one additional full back, preferably two, Oh and the need for a back up striker for when Big Mich 'The Beast' Antonio picks up his inevitable hamstring injury! - Ed

Whilst Leicester are right now a more attractive side, they ain’t Spurs level (Poorest in the Top 6 but probably still uncatchable over a prolonged period). West Ham are only 2/3 good transfer windows away from them and could easily finish above them year upon year. It’s also what he wants in his personal life now, that’s often forgotten when players decide on their future.

The only encouragement teams like WH and Leicester are getting, is from the media as they are desperate for stories.

Tarks is going nowhere this season.

Were in a good but also bad position in my eyes, we have a excellent player under contract and a club offering 30 million to buy him thats the good news for right now - BUT if he stays as we hold out he could easily "do a Hendricks" and see out his contract and go for free securing big wages for 3-5 years but us watching a 30m plus player out the door for nothing - russian roulette time.

Keeping him for 2 years and him walking away for nothing, could make us more money than selling him for £30-40 million now.

fair comment but why are the club saying there is a value they would accept for the player ?? because that value (even at 50m) still would not be the worth of us staying in the premiership for next 2 years ?

Well it seems that there's a £50 million clause, meaning we have to accept it. Which is why we've put that figure on his head in terms of what we'll accept - as we don't have any say, if it's reached.

So whether it would be worth us keeping him and staying in the Premier League for 2 years, it would no longer come into consideration as it would be out of the club's hands.

To be fair, the situation with Covid and PL money is so tenuous you can't really blame any player for wanting to get the best possible deal he can right now.

I think you’ll find it’s true. Brentford were wanting £46,200,000 for Ollie Watkins but had to settle for £33,000,000

That's a shame,if only Gibson had shown some professionalism & a bit of patience,Tarks would be already gone and Gibson could have shown us his worth as a premier league footballer...all ifs & buts but we are going to lose out twice by losing Tarks and our record purchase Gibson being out on loan...you couldn't make it up!

Had he behaved and waited, as Tarky did, he'd have played the last six games last season.

Prices 40% down :-)

Compare Maupay’s and Watkin’s stats whilst at Brentford and their transfer fees to Brighton and Villa respectively.

Muppets.
Midfielder. Prices down. What a laugh. Funny that the WHU fans think they’re in with a chance at all, never mind at £30m.

Can’t see it, myself. Leicester fair enough, although as others have said, could’ve been so different. Worry for me is that Villa see a similar rise off the Hawkeye error.

It speaks volumes for how far we've progressed as a club, that we can rebuff £30m offers for our star names, that's staggering considering where we were in Sean's first full season, when we had to offload Charlie Austin to allow us to balance the books. It does put this "problem" into perspective doesn't it.

If Tarks is going anywhere I'd rather he went to Leicester, they're much less likely to be fighting down the lower reaches of the PL, whereas West Ham might well be in the lower half of the table, and possibly even a potential relegation rival.

Why is it that any rumours on here that may turn out to have substance get deleted?

I can't see anything on either the BBC or Sky Sports, just our rejection of Tarks to WH.

It won’t be in the media until it’s decided if we can agree terms with anyone they’ve offered (Gray/Albrighton/Choudry (loan)
