Do we really have 50 posts over an unsubstantiated rumour with no links backing it up?
Did you expect anything else?

May not be in the England squad, however he is a collosus for us, just like Van Dyke is for Liverpool. The very last player I would want to leave, and that includes two exceptional other players in our team
Mee and Taylor?

Mee & Taylor are consistently very good and would hate to lose either-Tarkowski is just immense. For me he would be very difficult, if not impossible to replace, particularly when you look at our budget

Pretty sure we were all very concerned when Keane left.

Same when Heaton got injured etc.

We just have to put trust into the club finding someone else.

Just heard that Norwich are looking at a loan deal for Gibson - paying 70% of his wages and a 2mil loan fee ...... I have faith that we could replace even Tark but with Gibson being a bit of an anomaly I think it’d be different cos’ unfortunately if he’d just not been a pri(k, he’d of been looking at 1st team Prem football with us soon I think.

We could find a replacement but would it be one who slots straight in and starts, that’d be the difficult thing.

Why?

We all know Tarks can pass a ball, can run with it and can defend.
Changing clubs may not make much difference to his international chances.

I don't think he did himself any favours when selected.
And we must realise by now that Southgate is almost constantly looking at the next young star coming through.

Like all previous managers Southgate has his preferences and nothing will change his mind there.

If he'd rather play someone like Walker at CB then there's nothing Tarks will do to dislodge him.

I've yet to understand why Mings gets picked, but I'm not being paid silly money to pick him.

if someone like Leicester came in for you and offered to double your wages you would be a mug not to do it, footballers are just doing a job, nothing more.
True, but its a product of the modern era. Loyalty did exist before so much money came in to the sport...and as you'll know in sport with wage caps its still more prevalent.

I think today to sign a new Tarkowski would cost us 20m. That's why we put it small bids for players who clearly not as good. We can't afford the best central defenders in the championship.

With Keane leaving it was different, we had Tarkowski lined up.

Funny how putting “Tarkowski transfer” or “Tarkowski Request” into twitter gets absolutely no mention of this.

Usually even a rumour has some basis

Rumour or not the fact is that JT has just two years left on his contract (with this messageboard showing no options for further years)
I would hope we are already in negotiations to get another long term deal sorted as we did with Wood, Taylor and McNeill
If any team comes up with the alleged £50m release fee this window I would think he will be gone
If a replacement is going to cost £20m plus wages that's going to cost us £30+ mill but we will have made a profit
Offering JT an extra £30k per week for a new 4 year deal will cost us circa £6m
So to keep him may cost the club £20+m
The fact that JT is not getting England calls, along with just 2 years left on his current deal will only diminish his transfer value when this window closes

I'm willing to trust a group who've got us this far with the signings we've made thus far

Doesn't matter does it. Point is we had Tarkowski who was able to step up when Keane left. Now we don't have anyone unless we think Thomas/Dunne are good enough.

Not sure, you can look up players here: https://www.transfermarkt.us/championship/ but beware market value doesn't represent an actual transfer fee.

Here's some extra detail from Dyche on the topic:
The days of us nicking Nick Pope for 1.5 million pounds ($1.85 million), Johan Gudmundsson for 2.2 million pounds, James Tarkowski for 4 million pounds and Andre Gray for 6 million pounds, they’ve gone.

Norwich deal confirmed.

Heard another couple of bits today that could rock the boat a little.

Potentially an ex player heading back soon.

Tarks is at the stage where his next move will probably be his last chance of a big one. I'd be amazed if he signed a new deal with us.

No it's Graham Branch, apparenty his versatility will be handy with our small squad. He can play in 10 out of 11 posistions.

Was reading an article just last month about Gray, and how we got a great deal selling him to Watford.

Burnley got tremendous value from Andre Gray and made a huge profit on selling him

Burnley signed Gray for what was then a club record £9m from Brentford back in 2015 (as per BBC), a move which worked wonders for him and the Clarets. They more than doubled their money on him with the sale to Watford, for whom he has scored just 16 times in 94 appearances – less than half of his 33-goal tally at Turf Moor inside 78 games at the Lancashire club.
