Hold up, you weren't willing to give him 45 minutes when you started this thread.

Hopefully Tarkowski is watching. It’d put me off a move there, if I was silly enough to want one in the first place.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 9:53 pmIt’s no wonder West Ham want Tarkowski with Diop at the back.
Re: Hendrick
He’s had a good game on the right. Helped stopped the Antonio threat, covered well and showed some great touches. Good assist and a composed quality goal. Demonstrated the passing technique that created the goal for Vydra at Southampton. We’ll miss him that’s for sure. Certainly made a fool of the OP.

Re: Hendrick
Great goal that, hit it sweetly but how much time did West Ham give him? They look shocking.
Newcastle fans will be happy tonight.
Those of us who say Brownhill will end up being the better player may be right, but nothing so far to suggest he can score goals like that.

Re: Hendrick
Hasn’t taken long for Jeff to become Messi-esque. How many goals like that did he score for us, and how many games did he play before he showed us? How many games has JB had?
He had good games for us of course he did, but he was NEVER a world beater, just steady when played in a position he was half familiar with.
There’s an awful lot of people on here who “know” why he didn’t want to stay here....

Re: Hendrick
He got a goal and an assist but his general game didn’t look that great. He’s an a bang average PL player. Let’s see how he’s doing after a dozen games. Don’t get the love in from some like they’be lost part of the family and wanting him to do so well for another club. He was offered a deal, wasn’t around to play the last few games and wanted more money.

Re: Hendrick
He was getting pelters from Newcastle fans at half time.
People are going on like he had a masterclass. Steady away and scored a decent goal like he did every now and again for us.
Doesn’t get into our starting eleven with everyone fit. Thank him for his service and get over it. Don’t see anyone raving about Arfields performance today?

Dyche wanted him, Bruce wanted him,McCarthy wanted him. I’ll take that over ‘bang average, crap and championship player’
For someone who couldn’t get in the team when we had a fit squad he played a lot of games in 3 years. Isn’t that part of his attraction. He can actually play when others can’t. And we did pretty well in those years.

We've been in the PL for the past 4 seasons, and JH has played in the majority of those games, that can't be a coincidence.
No-one is claiming he's a world beater, but he's an experienced midfielder with nearly 140 PL games under his belt, and he's gone to a fellow PL rival.
All those facts point to the case for him being a proven PL player, who was in demand.

18 months - still in the Premier League.
Prior to his goal Newcastle fans were slating him. good player but he pretty much contributed the same as Arfield in his time with us. Don’t see many people saying we should be back in for him.

The interview I watched and I am sure you did was him stating that he left to get to play in his preferred position in centre midfield - so remind me again who picks the team ???

Newcastle fans slate anything and everything, however they're now full of praise for Hendrick, his goal, his work rate etc because he turned up, didn't hide, didn't let his head drop and that's what some fans like to see.
Bruce knows what he's got in Hendrick, an assist and a goal also justified starting him.

Re: Hendrick
Newcastle fans are probably the angriest fans in the country, nothing suits them and they'll slate everything because they think they should be signing world stars. He's better than Arfield, and that's not a criticism of Scotty, but he was always very stretched at Premier League level but outstanding in the Championship and in Scottish football. Arfield will always be remembered fondly by Burnley fans even though he, like Hendrick, chose to let his contract run down and go for nothing. I've never, ever understood the criticism of Hendrick who I thought proved time and time again just what a good signing he was. And I do laugh at this suggestion that Brownhill is an upgrade. We don't know how good Brownhill is going to be yet. He had some very good games when he came in but tailed off towards the end of the season although I expected him to. Hendrick proved himself to be a very good player for us over four years.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 10:42 pmPrior to his goal Newcastle fans were slating him. good player but he pretty much contributed the same as Arfield in his time with us. Declan rice looked poor as usual.
Difficult to judge Newcastle on that performance. They looked like us with the 442 set up, but you can't play West ham every week.

Proper funny thread. OP almost immediately made to look a fool and things only get better from there on in.
He's started his 5th successive season in the Premier League with a goal and an assist, you can speculate that he'll be in the Championship in 18 months all you want and it's still nothing but make believe.

Stats don't mean everything, but in this case I think they tell us a lot.
Most Premier League appearances for Burnley:
Mee 166
Barnes 155
Tarkowski 123
Hendrick 122
Cork 116
But worth noting that Mee and Barnes made their PL debuts over two years earlier than Hendrick.

That 122 for Hendrick is out of a possible 137 games he could have played. Only Mee & Tarky ahead of him in that period.
