Assassin's Creed & Prince of Persia.
Do they have a good mix of puzzle solving and combat?

I think they both have combat. If you want puzzle solving, then look up the Tex Murphy games.

Witcher 3
Skyrim
Oblivion
GTAutos from 3 onwards.
Pro Evolution Soccer 6.

I don't mind Assassin's Creed games, but I struggle to finish them, though I do have great hopes for Valhalla.

We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow

The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new land
To fight the horde and sing, and cry
Valhalla, I am coming!

I remember me and a mate playing moonstone until about 5am, got to the last level and the game crashed and shut down. Still gutted 20 odd years later. :(

My nephew is getting Football Manager for his laptop soon, so said I'd start a game with him.

Has anybody played the latest version recently? I remember in the earlier versions there were boring jobs you could leave to the coach such as training, reserve games etc?

Well found. There were rumours of another game but we're going back probably 8+ years and nothing materialised.

Be brilliant if another was released. The video on there was uploaded on 2017 though, so it's taking a long time.

I actually fancy investing some money in a hand built retro arcade machine (Tall Boy)

Theres a place locally that builds them to order called Chilli's Arcade.

One of my best mates has a couple and they really are quality and dont cost much more than what the new generation of consoles will cost on release

I bought one from a shop in Burnley - Ben's Oddities.

Not a tall boy but I already had a stand to put one on, incredible bit of kit.

The PS1 has some amazing games that IMO will never be beaten. Just a few of my favorites:

Metal Gear Solid
Gran Turismo 2
Resident Evil 1,2 and 3
Tenchu
Final Fantasy 7 and 9
Broken Sword

I was born in 92 and inherited my older brothers SNES, in terms of consoles it is probably my favorite and the following I still play infrequently:

Super Ghouls and Ghosts
Ghoul Patrol
Donkey Kong 2
Out to Lunch
Super Star Wars
The Legend of Zelda- A link to the past
Super Mario world
Super Alien Probotector (otherwise known as CONTRA 3)

Honorary mentions for the following from various consoles:

Monkey Island series (for anyone who enjoyed Broken Sword)
Oblivion and Skyrim (ps3/4)
Goldeneye (N64)
Banjo and Kazooie (N64)
Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast)

They don't make em like they used too!

In response to the edited FM 2020 comment.

I sometimes use the grey market sites to buy games. More often than not I buy from Gamivo.

A full list of cdkey sites and a price comparison can be found on

https://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/buy-foo ... re-prices/

Now, why are they called grey market sites.

It is because they tend to buy cdkeys in bulk and sell them on. In some cases those purchases might have been made with stolen credit cards and in support of other nefarious activities, like money laundering.

The outcome is that developers and publishers make less money when games are sold through these sites and if the initial purchase does involve something like a stolen credit card the game producers can lose money when those payments are recovered. Both of these cases could be considered bad for the revenue streams of game creators.

So why do I buy from them ?

I prefer to buy indie games over triple A games and a lot of these games don't have in depth reviews which can be used to make an informed purchase. Sadly, while there are some fantastic indie games the scene also puts out a lot of worthless dross. So, I pick up a game cheaply and if it is good I scrub it off my steam account and buy it directly from the developer or from a more reputable source like steam.

A lot of the indie games I pick up are 50p or less on Gamivo. I would never buy a high price Triple A game from them.

Having bought a reasonable amount of games over time I've only ever had a problem with one game, but I go for suppliers that have a lot of positive feedback. If you run into problems you won't get any help, unless you buy the extra service packs ( don't do that ). Normal online buying laws should provide help, but they don't seem to with these companies who just fob you off.

The EU game will work, normally the one that just says steam with no conditionals is the one to pick - or Epic, GoG etc.

One thing that I should point out is that these sites are shifty. On Gamivo when you select a game to buy it will automatically tick a box for their customer protection program. This will add to the total price unless you un-tick it. This is their extra service option. When you look in your shopping cart you will see it below each game. Simply un-tick it and choose the " No I'll be fine option " on the pop up.

When you pay ( I think it is directly after you chose the payment type like Paypal ) a box pops up and the option to join a SMART price service ( or something ) is once again automatically ticked. Joining this signs you up for a monthly service which costs you £1.83 every month and they are notoriously difficult to get out of. So you MUST un-tick that box before proceeding.

When you click onto buy a box will also pop up sometimes giving you the choice between paying the regular price and the SMART price ( which is cheaper ). Again, selecting the SMART price will sign you up to the monthly fee paying service - so pick the regular price.

Gamivo will also add a small payment handling charge to the final price - so you have to factor that in as well.

On the upside, Gamvio regularly post % off codes on their front page which can be as high as 20%, but are normally 10% or below.

So, all told, these sites have some very cheap prices for games and I've only had one problem with the purchases I've personally made ( I bought one game and when I entered the code it was for another game, more expensive but not the one I wanted ). They aren't doing anything that is obviously illegal, but it is a case of BUYER BEWARE and scanning each page before continuing to the next one and finally posting payment.

I've tried to point out most of the pitfalls, but you might be better off buying a new retail packaged hard copy ( with box and disc ) off Ebay for £20 Buy It Now or less in an auction. If it is like anything else then the price will probably fall a bit more when the new season edition comes out.

I've since had a deeper look and looked at reviews such as TrustPilot and it all seems to be above board.

So, given how the 21 edition is out next month, for £12 I think I'll just go ahead and get the key/code - then download it from Steam.

I've since had a deeper look and looked at reviews such as TrustPilot and it all seems to be above board.

So, given how the 21 edition is out next month, for £12 I think I'll just go ahead and get the key/code - then download it from Steam.
Nods, just watch for the pit falls and price addition tricks I mentioned or you could end up paying a lot more than £12.

Just use cdkeys.com

The one time I had a problem (relating to the description not the actual key) they gave me a refund.

They're pretty much the cheapest anyway.

I only buy stuff on steam when I know i'll be wanting a refund

Had this Speccy disc with a 1000 games on. Worked up until windows10 made it obsolete.
Lemmings my favourites.
