Erik Pieters
Got to praise this fella!
What a total professional. He improved us as soon as he came on.

Strength and pace, not thing's I thought I'd say in the same sentence as Pieters!
Re: Erik Pieters
He's a good footballer. I like him. Did well for the last few games last season too.

Couldn’t agree more. He is not only a consummate professional footballer, but a sound man who clearly brings humanity, wisdom and strength to his game. He really looks as though he’s enjoying his football .

Outstanding out on the wing again - I really think he does a brilliant job out there. Great squad asset and has proven to be terrific signing.

At this rate we might be needing him on the right wing.

During last seasons re-start Pieters proved what a quality, versatile asset he is. He could make a considerable contribution this coming PL season.

Didn’t watch the game (kids football training). Did he play left or right wing?
I’m a big fan. Delighted to have him.

Re: Erik Pieters
Brady is the leading candidate at the moment but I'm sure Lowton, Long and, possibly, Wood (for his offsides) will attract some of the small-minded too.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 8:56 pmDoes this mean he becomes the next target for the haters?

Re: Erik Pieters
Brady didn't play very well, as anyone who watched would agree.
But he was playing on the wrong wing! It is so unfair to give him stick for this game...... also he took the match winning penalty very well.
There's a player in there......

Yeah nothing but praise for Erik, a real professional. I guess the only worry is too many games in a short space of time. He is getting on a bit.

The fact that Pieters is becoming such a key player says more about the progression of the Burnley squad than it does about Pieters as a Prem League player

Re: Erik Pieters
what progression is that then? Getting in a solid Prem quality professional who's helping in getting a squad to stay in the Prem, even be mid-table? He's a squad player and was brought in for instances like now. In some respects it is a sign of how far we have come!

Yes. One of the best so-called squad players we have signed since we got in the PL.diamondpocket wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 9:30 pmwhat progression is that then? Re: Erik Pieters
not exactly what I wrote though is it. But well done on the editing skills, you're clever!
I guess you're comparing us with top 6 sides seeing as we've finished 7th and 10th. You must expect us to be getting in players pushing for a top 6 side if you're disappointed with valuable members of our squad like Peters & Long. Be thankful we've got such loyal pros fighting for the shirt when they come in. They may lack a little in quality but more than make up for it in their professionalism and desire to do well for us and their fellow team-mates. You might wanna get behind them some time, it helps to not always be a miserable, bitter **** once in a while.

Re: Erik Pieters
You can aspects of our squad, but the one thing you can't fault is their spirit, and this was shown again tonight, when we battled back and edged the penalty shoot-out, as long as this unity remains intact we've got every chance of achieving our goals for this season once again, and the main goal is sustaining PL status, despite our victory tonight the cups will always play 2nd fiddle to the league, but it's a boost to get a victory tonight.

Re: Erik Pieters
No, that will be Brady who held the position before he was injured. He did well tonight by the way, Brady that is, but some won't want to see it.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 8:56 pmDoes this mean he becomes the next target for the haters?

As for Pieters, he's a real asset to our squad. I remember what Mick McCarthy said about Hendrick when asked to play out of position, he said he doesn't moan, just gets on with it. We've asked Pieters to play either side of the pitch and further up and he's just gone out there and done a job for us. These are the sort of players we need at our football club.

Always liked Pieters, he’s not a left midfielder though but him needing to play there kinda says it all in regards to our recruitment or lack of.

Re: Erik Pieters
Pieter's manages to play out of position and play very well there. That's the difference to Hendrick. It's a stark difference too. Of course Hendrick had fantastic moments but his average performances out of position were dire.
Can't say the same about Pieter's.

Re: Erik Pieters
I see someone has mentioned Stoke-surprised we have not been in for Joe Allen. Pieters is a tremendous professional and loves playing for us. I can see him being the "new Hendrick" in terms not of his positional play but because of versatility. He can play FB or wide midfield(where he is less exposed). He brings a bit of steel too. A great signing

Re: Erik Pieters
Pieters set up an excellent chance for Brady which their keeper deflected on to the post.
Re: Erik Pieters
A great squad member but come on he is very limited and if he will be playing out wide all season then god help us - as for Brady I thought he was very average last night but agree he will be one for the boo boys as we know he has some talent in there but we don't see this often enough and hopefully this season he steps up to the challenge as jesus we are going to need him to.
