Herr Flick’s lot at it again

Watching Bayern Munich v Schalke. Close game, 8 minutes left and Bayern have just gone 8-0 up.

Ha ha.

Boring last few minutes. Finished 8-0. Gnabry hat trick but only one for Lewandowski and that was a penalty.

Only the 1st game, but already they're looking formidable, clearly no CL hangover in Bavaria.

David Wagner has not been having a very happy time since he left Huddersfield.

He wasn't having a very happy time at Huddersfield either for a few months before he left. He and his team got it horribly wrong with their recruitment in the summer of 2018 and they paid the price for that.

I remember some of the green eyes on here at Huddersfield's recruitment at one time.

There's some 'kin negative dummies on here.

I'm convinced they are on P.E.Ds

Utterly convinced.

The musculature gains in such a short amount of time (whilst keeping fitness, low body fat etc) are absolutely insane...

Not to mention the running stats for the team in the last 3 games of their UCL campaign - the highest in competition history and they were played within 10 days or so!!!

Bayern M have already got 8 German championships on the trot and will very likely make it 9 this season (and probably then 10). It's becoming a one horse race on a par with Scotland (9 in a row now for Celtic but Rangers closing the gap latterly at least).

According to the BBC report on the game they have won 30 and drawn 1 game since their last defeat in any competition going back to December last year. Definitely something dodgy going on.

You do wonder when they turn a player who only got one game at West Brom into a Champions League winner....

That's when Flick took over, previous manager went in November and I think they have lost just a couple of games since.

I think there’s a difference between the ball being belted up 70 metres over your head playing under Pulis, to playing in a team full of world class players.

They have a very strict training program for their players. Look how big, strong and powerful they all seem to be.

I take your point but he was hardly pulling up trees at Arsenal and they weren't pinging long balls. Granted, players can develop at a later age but his rise has been phenomenal.

In fairness he was only 20 when he left Arsenal - what is without question is how good a player he's become.

It was hardly a contest to be honest last night. I only watched it because I'd been watching Hamburg v Fortuna and this match followed.

The disparity in club finances has turned the Bundesliga into a non-event as far as winning it goes. They might as well give the trophy to Bayern Munich on the opening day, it's that uncompetitive. Same in France. What's the point of that league when it's virtually certain Paris St Germain will win it. I know they've started with a couple of bad results, but in reality the whole season is a non-event apart perhaps from who finishes second.

In England at present, we do at least have four teams that might win it, two from Manchester, Liverpool and perhaps Chelsea, but with every season it seems to get more and more unbalanced. It's what happens when big business gets its hands on sport, it sucks the life out of it. And it's done for reasons that have nothing to do with sport.

I would agree with that but up to Christmas last season it didn't look as though they would win the Bundesliga. Even the biggest clubs can get it wrong and Bayern had. They put that right and then coasted to yet another title.

I think Schalke will struggle this season as it happens but that was so one sided last night. It just wasn't a contest.

All teams have strict training programs. Bayern aren't doing anything new, there's no secret training program these days, football is always trailing the athletics world... I really believe something dodgy is going on here.

Training as is building the players bodies up. Can’t remember who it was but one player before lockdown had a body like McNeil and came back looking like Mike Tyson. A lot of their players are similar, been built up like machines.

Dodgy how? If you had Man U, one of the lesser top 6 sides eg Spurs, it’d be the same here. They can have the pick of every player in the league to an extent.

Goretzka- but even Phil Coutinho has put muscle on like he never has before.
