Transfer Window Marks
Transfer Window Marks
7 weeks gone just over 2 to go.
Think we needed and 8 or 9 out of 10 this window afte a few poor ones.
Out of 10
Marks now: 2 for keeping Tarkowski and moving Gibson on.
Expected Marks at end: 4 think we might get one in

You get nothing for a near miss.
Re: Transfer Window Marks
Are you judging the when the window shuts in two weeks, or later after the window for deals with EFL clubs close on 18th October?

Re: Transfer Window Marks
Our biggest coup will be getting Sean to extend his contract
I said a few months ago that we are skint and have to select from our U23 to make changes to cover injuries
I still feel we will struggle to get any new faces in and have grave doubts about the suitability of our recruitment team, beyond finding new youth team players

Re: Transfer Window Marks
Have you heard a story about a player not arriving for his medical? I’m not 100% sure who it was but I think you may have prepared an article ready.

Re: Transfer Window Marks
Keeping hold of Tarks has always been the main priority imo, and so far so good (fingers crossed). There's no denying it's not been a good window thus far, but it's not been for many clubs. Also good moving on some of our highly paid bench warmers/subs. Lastly if we don't strengthen the squad it will give an opportunity for some of the youngster's to stake a claim. I still expect us to be competitive given the quality in our squad.

I can see us bringing new faces in around dead line day when clubs have done their business, and realise they need to move on the dead wood.

Re: Transfer Window Marks
The player not arriving for a medical may be the Oxford Utd midfielder, who has signed a new contract at his club. CT may be able to confirm

Re: Transfer Window Marks
Hmmm, lets think....marks out of ten for a transfer window that sees us with 12 senior outfield players to choose from for our first Premier League game ? Tricky one...

Late deals, low fees, not household names.
It's been the same for donkeys, yet twice a year mass hysteria takes hold because we're doing it like we always have done.

Our transfer window is as useless as a Safe Style UK salesman.

To be fair, if we Buy One; Get One Free at this stage, we’ll probably all be quite happy!
Re: Transfer Window Marks
While we're foretelling the future, how many marks for next January's window?

Re: Transfer Window Marks
0 or 1 out of 10.
We're 2 weeks away from ending the window with a significantly weaker squad when compared to how we finished last season.
And even then we were struggling to put a bench together.
Unbelievable really..

I still think we’ll bring in 3-4 signings (first team).

Re: Transfer Window Marks
Extending SD contract is pointless if you're not going to give him anything to work with, you could sign Pep but if he's not given the tools to do his job with ( Players) whats the point? Going into our first league game with the squad we've got in the richest league in the world is quite simply shocking.
Don't mind waiting to sign players but they should be in and gelled for the first league game, not the 3rd or 4th.
This league will be hard enough without giving teams a head start because we haven't the players to affect the game.

Re: Transfer Window Marks
There isn't any. However, several reasons to be concerned:-
Cork could be out for months and we have known that for ages. We only have 2 others for cm. An early injury to Westwood and we are in a right mess.
JBG out again, in a position we were already low on numbers. Brady still not proven his fitness and more importantly that he has confidence in his ability anymore.
To contemplate starting the season with only 3 cbs, the best of those continuously linked with a move away and the second best injured, is a massive risk.
Every other club in the League has strengthened their 1st eleven.
I get that we can't spend much atm, but if we don't invest enough to give us a decent chance of staying up, what's the point of all our progress over the last few years?
We are at that sliding doors moment.

I can think of two in our mini league that haven't. Palace & Southampton.
Even though they've started well Palace are pretty much the same as last season, likewise Southampton.

Re: Transfer Window Marks
Palace have signed Ferguson, Eze and Batshuayi.
Southampton have signed Walker-Peters permanently and Salisu.
Both have improved their first team, you can’t just make stuff up.
